Diner Reviews
  • "Very nice outdoor setting, except that when you ask for outdoor table on your reservation they don't guarantee it. We were stuck waiting for all the happy hour tables to finish so we could get a seat. The manager was nice enough to give us lounge chairs outside while waiting for a table to open, but the waiter kept coming over and telling us our table was almost ready and then looking suggestively at the table behind him. The prices were a bit out of range for this side of the East River. Nearby Blend LIC or SHI have very nice views at a fraction of the cost. The food is good, but the sides were so-so. Also the waiters are very friendly and nice but not professionally trained. So it's good, just a little overpriced for what it is."

  • "Outstanding view but subpar service and food that didn't "meet and exceed" NYC's "highest standards" (as per their website). If you don't eat at this price point in Manhattan, the view and plating may be enough impress, especially for non-locals. However, service was substandard, from the small (e.g., no wine list, infrequent checks & water/drink refills) to the significant (HUGE lapse between salads and main course, which we couldn't eat until we chased down waitstaff to replaced bussed silverware), and the food was just OK. Baby bouquete salad was bitter & without enough accompaniment, surf & turf was unimpressive, and the chicken was not flavorful, although some sides (e.g., potato flan, spinach bread pudding) were quite good."

  • "It could be a neighborhood or even a city gem only if the management is changed. The service is by far the worst I have ever see. And I don't mean the bus boys - they were perfect, in fact, the only ones checking on us. The waiting staff was horrible though. We placed our order at 7.45pm and have not seen our waitress until 9.30pm. The food is nothing special, very overpriced."

  • "My husband and I had reservation at 8:00 for our anniversary. We were seated at 7:50. We received water at 8:20, appetizers at 9:05, Dinner at 9:50 and desert at 10:40. We felt like the evil step kids that had to wait until ever has ate before we can. People were sea"

  • "I had been here three weeks prior and the service was excellent. On July 4th weekend I think the servers were trainees. They were unprofessional and didn't perform their job well at all. I couldn't believe I was in the same establishment. Very disapointing."

  • "This was our 1st time at the Waters Edge and I left impressed. Although we were there on a Living Social voucher I was treated like any other paying customer. The waiter was attentive but not pushy. His recommendation on the duck left us both impressed. I never knew duck confite could taste so light considering how it's cooked. I will definitely be back w/ or w/o another voucher!"

  • "With one of the most incredible views of Manhattan, it's just a shame how poorly the Water's Edge is being run. It looks as though the owner ran out of money while decorating but even what they did do over is stuck in time and awful! The butter had a refrigerator taste as well as the dessert and the food was nothing to write home about! In the background, a patron was arguing with a waiter which resulted in the hostess taking him out front for diners to listen in on while waiting for valet to get your car. Water's Edge is a sleeper just waiting for the right professional to grab it and turn it into one of the most desirable spots in NYC."

  • "I really like the setting of Water's Edge. My husband and I returned there for our anniversary dinner after having gotten married there a year earlier. We received a complimentary glass of champagne as a gesture of congratulations from the restaurant. The food was tasty. The appetizer that we shared, shrimp and mango dumplings, was especially delicious. The entree portions were a bit smaller than we had anticipated, but the food was satisfying nonetheless. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for good food in a mellow, music-filled, ambiance with gorgeous city views."

  • "Went there with an Amazon Local deal. Everything was top notch except for watching the manager be a little bossy with the staff a tad too close to me. However, service, food and ambience all were well worth it."

  • "The slogan "the only thing we overlook is the water" is clever and true. The place is beautiful. The welcoming friendly, the service excellent. I particularly liked the portions. Smaller, very beautifully plated, and delicious. A nice selection.,we had the the scallops with mango and curry, the shrimp and scallop dumplings, the beet and goat cheese, and the chocolate volcano with the vanilla ice cream. And the icing on the cake ( we were going back to Manhattan) was that our host called a car for us. Definitely a " go there again" place."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed our fifth wedding anniversary sitting outside overlooking Manhattan. Great view for out of towners impressed by such things. We had the only table under the covered area outside so when it started raining, all other outdoor diners moved inside which left us alone outside to enjoy the quiet and the view all alone. We sat there from 7 to 11 enjoying libations and the atmosphere. The food was okay, what I remember of it, we actually shared an entrée so it was a rather small meal, but that's okay because we were there to enjoy each other's company and the view, both objectives were met in outstanding fashion."

  • "The views at this restaurant are outstanding and the ambiance is certainly amenable to a special occasion or a romantic night out. The service was very good as well. The food was very good though for the price I did expect better. My strip steak was a bit overdone at medium to medium well rather than the medium rare I had asked for. The potato wedges were rather bland and just a bit undercooked on the hard side. My wife's snapper, however, was excellent. Like I said, the food is very good but given the high end nature of this restaurant, I expected it to be more superb. In any case, come for the views, the ambiance, but for true foodies there are better options. "

  • "Although it was raining, the view was stunning and the service was great. The food was good, but to my opinion a little bit too expensive in comparison with other restaurants (same style) in New York."

  • "The food was good (not tops, but very good). The service was excellent. But, the night view of the City takes your breath away. Whenever we visit N.Y. the Water's Edge is a must for at least one late-nite meal."

The place was very clean and the food was exquisite .I don't usually eat everything in my plate, this time was different. we were very satisfied ; my partner and I will definitely come back soon to that romantic place and some of your delicious food . Thank you!"

  • "Me and my girlfriend came to The Water's Edge to celebrate her birthday. From the moment we entered to restaurant we weren't disappointed. The lobster dumplings were absolutely delicious. My girlfriend had filet mignon with asparagus while i had duck with risotto. The dishes combined with the red and white wines complemented our dishes very well. It was my first experience at a restaurant of this caliber and i will never forget it. I cannot wait for the next time i go back to The Water's Edge."

  • "Bit of a factory location, but the restaurant boast a wonderful view of the city from the east river and the meal was very good. Pricey compared to other locations in the area minus the view, however besides that the ambience and the service was better than most restaurants I have visited."

  • "Food was amazing wine was delish. Entrees were cooked perfectly. And dessert oh my it was almost better than the view. Service was excellent. Great night great ambience. Had a window seat at 9pm with all the city lights in full effect. Very very romantic."

  • "Food and atmosphere are very good but our waiter kinda ruined it with the attitude. The molten lava cake was very disappointing as it came out like a brownie. We tried to communicate with the waiter but his response was , " that's how it is...."..."

  • "Thanks to all the staff and especially the manager Haleem (I hope I spelled it right) This was my first time there which was celebrating my wedding anniversary I am an experienced diner from the nyc area and they really got everything right from beginning to end I will definitely return its an awesome spot which is way beyond the great view of the city even the piano player Bill was great and played a request ,check this place out you'll love it !"

  • "The view of the City is incredible, and the prices are decent, but the atmosphere is very so-so. The food was prepared decently and with care, but it seems marginal products were used in production and so the final result is only marginal as well."

  • ""I loved the relaxed feel of the restaurant which is like a comfortable dining room in a friends home but with an outstanding view of Manhattan. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was well-timed and friendly. Awesome Raspberry Cheesecake."

  • "The location is far from subway, but you get a great view of Manhattan skyline. The food was not so good. I had an expensive surf and turf that was average. My husband had a "risotto" that was not good. The salad was super salty, as was much of the food. The servers were kind and polite, but I probably won't be going back."

  • "What we ordered- Appetizers - Crispy Pork Belly (4/5) --> The best dish during dinner - Wedge Salad (2/5) --> 38$ pre-fixe and the greens were iceberg lettuce. While it was good, I couldn't help but think how much better it would have tasted with either mixed/field greens or arugula Main Entree - Maple Miso Glazed Wild Salmon (3/5) --> Salmon was good, Soba noodles were horrifyingly mushy - Braised Lamb Shank (3/5) --> Overcooked, not tender Dessert - Hazelnut Mouse Cake (4/5) --> Yummy! - Raspberry Cheesecake (2/5) --> Better off buying from a supermarket - Crème Brulee (3/5) --> Custard was mediocre Overall- If it weren't for the views/ambiance, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Overpriced food but good service."
