I made surprise reservations choosing Watermark by reputation ALONE.There was no level of disappointment-none!
Our server was bright,cheerful,and knowledgeable.He recommended the grits/ham/cheese appetizer!!! I had filet & my
wife lamb.Excellent.The California Chardonnay was perfect. And to splurge a bit desserts of dark chocolate cake
and warm berry cobbler (recommended). Everything was prompt & valet is waiting. We chose outdoor and it was great! The staff was very attentive and courteous. We had the beet salad for a starter which was wonderful! I had scallops and our daughter had the filet - both were very good. My husband had the other steak on the menu and, while it had a wonderful flavor, was very gristly and chewy. The creme brûlée, of which I am not usually a fan but our daughter ordered one dessert for the table, was amazing! They even wrote "Happy Birthday" in chocolate on the plate. With one exception, the food was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We sat on the roof top patio and enjoyed some great Spring weather. The menu had adequate variety with creative dishes. The service was excellent. We had not been to Watermark in quite some time because the prices had gotten very high (out of line with comparable restaurants) and the food wasn't that spectacular. We had heard rave (and clearly well-warranted!) reviews of the new chef and were pleased to see the prices are more reasonable again with most entrees in the $25-$30 range with a couple at $32. This is consistent with other local restaurants of this caliber. We were extremely pleased with the quality of the food, the selection of wines and the outstanding service. The baby grilled octopus appetizer its one of the best I've ever had. We all chose different things from the menu and all agreed that food was great. Portions and the right size and the fusion of southern and french cusine makes a great combination. Our waitress Patricia did an outstanding job on describing each dish and showed perfect knowledge of the menu. I was contacted by email and phone to confirm my reservation by Watermark. I had mentioned in my notes it was my anniversary.
When we arrived we were greeted ad seated in a section that was closed off and at a table that overlooked the city. They brought us
Complimentary champagne. The staff all acknowledged our special occasion. The waitress was so nice and helpful. We ordered dessert
and they had prepared it on a plate with "happy anniversary" written in chocolate.
We are not known and no influence if any kind and watermark made my wife and I feel special.

Because the taping was such a fun experience, I chose to make reservations at Watermark, knowing that it is Chef Bob's restaurant. My dad was visiting Nashville for the first time ever and our experience at Watermark was our favorite part of the weekend, right alongside going to the Opry on Friday night! :) Our waiter, Cole was so kind, Chef Bob came out to personally greet and talk to us and even sent out complimentary scallops (delicious!). Wines were varied in many areas but not as deep in others, with many by-the-glass offerings. The wine prices varied but tended towards expensive. We tried the flounder, the shrimp and grits, the lamb & eggplant, the trout and the strip steak entrees, each was well-prepared and -presented. Portions were reasonable. For dessert we shared a delightful & unique beer ice cream & pretzel sundae and a deconstructed lemon meringue pie. Watermark is located in a "re-vibed", hip part of the city bustling with nightlife, they make it easy to park with a valet. The bar is on the street level and the only reason I didn't give this place a 5-star is that the February night we were there was rainy and cold and they had no heat in the bar, where we waited for the other couple to join us.
