Diner Reviews
  • "Hats off to Watermark, their chefs and staff. Our server Maya was well prepared with special menu for my wife's food allergies. Her service was spectacular. Our evening was another great time and dining experience. Highly recommended."

  • "The four of us all loved our dinner. Service great, nice atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone looking for a vibrant, fun spot with excellent food. I had scallops and the others had halibut, all very tasty."

  • "My mother had asked me to choose a place to dine, before going to the Ryman. The original restaurant called and canceled the reservation, so I needed another quick. My family was to meet that night and I had nothing. The watermark easily accommodated my urgent need of a place to dine. The service was a little slow until I said we had a time table to meet. Then it was quite prompt. The food tasted fabulous, but thethe appetizer portions were rather small, with a party of six needing four or five of them just for a bite or two. Overall I was impressed with atmosphere and the food. The only catch was it was considerably expensive."

  • "Our 35th wedding anniversary dinner could not have been better. Atmosphere, food and service were distinctively good, starting with complementary champagne and ending with a complimentary creme brulee - nice touches indeed!"

  • "We celebrated our daughter & son-in-law's silver wedding anniversary here. Our son went online to find a gift certificate for us for Christmas last year & picked you. We travel full time in an motor home so this was the first time we were able to use it. Unfortunately we had never heard of it, but it was a beautiful evening for roof top dining. We enjoyed the food, atmosphere & time visiting together. Thank you for the good service."

  • "We went to Watermark to celebrate a special occasion. The atmosphere was modern, romantic, and quiet. We had the halibut with asparagus and risotto, and the ahi tuna with gumbo and clam, with white wine that our server recommended. They were both delicious, and also very unique! Service was great too."

  • "Had a great meal with friends from the area who had never been to Watermark. Great apps and halibut was perfect. Had an entire room to ourselves"

  • "The food and service were good. The noise level was low so one could actually have a conversation. Great location."

  • "We dined at the Watermark for our anniversary the other night and it was awesome. From the appetizers (Fried Green Tomatoes and Fried Oysters) throughout to the main course (Haddock and Scallops), the food was amazing. Everything was prepared expertly with a unique blend of unusual tastes. The service was also outstanding. Our server was knowledgable and very attentive. The only drawback was the Strawberry Shortcake desert which wee shared was not the best that we've ever, had. All in all, though, a great experience."

  • "When we arrived we were reluctant to sit outside, thought it would be too hot. We were assured of a nice breeze, and it was wonderful. Our waitress had several recommendations, and because there were 3 of us; we were able to try them all. Appetizers and entrees. To a dish, they were wonderful! We gobbled up every bite and didn't have room for desert. Lovely dinner and we will definitely return!"

  • "I recently moved to Nashville and took my parents to Watermark when they came to visit me. I had never eaten there and honestly picked the restaurant at random based on my own research and the restaurant's good reviews. It did not disappoint. The food was very good, and the menu had a nice selection of relatively unique dishes. There's nothing less appetizing than going to a nice restaurant and opening a menu that showcases items that are the same or only slight variations of dishes served at every other nice restaurant in town. Watermark's menu was creative and unique. Our waiter was knowledgable and friendly. The atmosphere was beautiful. As a New Orleans native, I have high standards for fine dining, and I'd highly recommend Watermark."

  • "We had an anniversary dinner at the Watermark. Even though it was a bit overcast, we ate on the patio and wasn't disappointed. The service was excellent, with both the host staff, wait staff, and management being very knowledgable and exceptionally friendly. The food matched the service. We had steak and the tuna, which were top cuts of meat/fish and very well prepared. We'd definitely come back again! "

  • "We had hoped to dine outside on the patio for our birthday dinner celebration, but the weather did not cooperate. The dining deck is outstanding if you have the chance to eat outside. Our server, Adrienne, was very thorough and helpful in describing many of the menu items. She was also very wine-knowledgeable. We were seated in the room adjacent to the outside patio, and it has a wonderful wall of floor to ceiling windows, so it was almost like being outside. Our only complaint was that there were two other tables of fairly loud patrons, which took away from the otherwise great experience. We will return, of course."

  • "It was my first time at Watermark and it did not disappoint one bit. Service was great and the food was excellent. I am going to have to go back because although the menu is not huge, the selections they did have I feel I would have liked any of them. I had the duck (can't remember the exact name they called it) this time and it was cooked perfectly! We sat inside and it was a nice atmosphere, but would like to try the outdoor seating sometime too. "

  • "While traveling we read some reviews and decided to try watermark. It is a great find, great food, fun space, knowledgable wait staff. Will make sure we travel thru Nashville again soon. A few minor fixes to food would make it perfect"

  • "Outstanding service. Octopus cooked sous-vide and served with cucumbers and greens was outstanding. The halibut was unfortunately thin, fried, and dry. Excellent dessert."

  • "Maybe I missed something in the reviews... Was expecting fine dining but was definitely misled... Or maybe it's Nashville's version of fine dining... One appetizer was too salty and the other was full of filler... Main course was not impressive... Manager apologized for the food and bought us dessert... The creme brûlée was actually the only highlight of the meal... Kudos to the pastry chef... Overall I would not call it fine dining... More like a diner with higher end decor..."

  • "We went last Summer and it was great. We just went again, under a new Chef, and it is still great. Watermark has a great selection of interesting items, and does not seem to be too interested in gouging you on the price for your meal. All the prices struck me as reasonable for a Fine Dining experience. There is a parking garage across the street where you can park for under $5. Be sure and arrive a little early and walk up the street to shop at "Two Old Hippies" -- That is an interesting store."

  • "In my opinion, if weather permits, the rooftop patio (second floor) is a must. Traffic noise is not a problem, view is very nice, but it is getting boxed in as the Gulch develops. The menu thrilled our CA foodie friends and there is plenty to attract the Southern palate. Our faves: the octopus appetizer and the pimento cheese grit soufflé. The crawfish cakes that have earned high marks from others, I found tasteless. Profiteroles were perfect for dessert! A fabulous meal in a unique Nashville setting!"

  • "We made arrangements for a tasting meal. We let the chef make the selections. Unbelievable meal!! Would recommend this restaurant for anyone going to Nashville! We were looking for a great meal with a southern touch. It was perfect! We chose watermark to celebrate a 50th birthday and it did not disappoint!!"

  • "the food was outstanding as was the service. We had the pimento cheese grits appetizer, the the pork dish and the scallops which was just perfect. We also had the wine that they suggested. Then the carrot cake and coffee. All was cooked to perfection. the watermark rates right up there with one of our favorite places to go."

  • "It's so nice to go to a restaurant with real linen, flatware, excellent service and a great menu. Watermark is all that. Try the pimento cheese grits or the duck for starters. The bacon wrapped chicken is sinfully good. So are the scallops."

  • "A group of 6 of us dined and each had different entrees. The strip steak was perfect. The lamb was outstanding. The appetizers such as the lobster bisque and duck confit were each a delicacy in themselves. The service matched the quality of the food."

  • "The most expensive item on the menu was sub par. Did not expect that from a high end place like watermark. We had discussed before the reservation about my wife's birthday and that I would have liked dessert with a subtle token of birthday celebration like a candle. None of which happened. The server did however acknowledge that we were there to celebrate the occasion."

  • "My husband and I were visiting Nashville for our anniversary and I came across Watermark in someone's blog. So glad I did! We had never been to the Gulch area and this restaurant was perfect for our first experience there. We set on the roof, great ambiance and great food! Our waiter was fantastic! We chose the butterscotch desert and we cannot stop talking about it, compliments to the pasty chef! Overall we had a great experience, thank you! The Reiss's "

Having a movie/TV star come in and be seated right behind us was pretty exciting. Overall, if you're in Nashville and you want a great experience...go to the Watermark."

  • "This is one of the best restaurants around Nashville in the Gulch area. If the weather permits, head to the outdoor patio for excellent ambiance. food here is excellent and the menu is creative without being pretentious. My group ordered 3 different entrees and shared each with the favorite being the pork shoulder and the filet. The appetizers feature a wonderful array of small plates that we shared as well with the souffle being our favorite. Wine list is satisfactory but I am fairly familiar with the wines listed and was dissappointed in the short range of price points; a few bottles in the $40 range and bunch above $70. We ordered a wonderful cabernet at $140 a bottle which I know to be closer to $60 at retail."

  • "Great food and ambiance with the terrace seating overlooking the Nashville skyline. The waiter was very courteous and food was great. Limited menu items by design. Extensive wine list although by the Glass options are very limited. Complimentary valet parking was a clincher for us. Will be back to check out the restaurants next door as well."
