The food and ambiance (white table clothes, many servers, great food) was very good. Our main server appeared to get busy very quickly after our arrival and the time we sat was a bit longer than one would expect with so much service. The wine list featured different wines than the comparable restaurants in the area - good overall experience and we will go again.

While my husband and I have enjoyed drinks on the patio, we had not dined at the Waterleaf for a complete dinner until Sat. night and were so excited to find a place where the food was excellent, the waitstaff attentive and the noise level low so we could actually hear the other couple talk without effort. It was a perfect way to spend an evening. We thought the menu was quite varied and the prices reasonable. We will go again!

My wife and I celebrated our 38th anniversary at Waterleaf based on a recommendation from our daughter. Our daughter made a great recommendation. Great service, excellent food. Go and enjoy. We were early enough that we had a window seat overlooking the lake that made the ambiance even better.

Six of us go out on Wednesday nights regularly. We usually like to try different places but occasionally go back to places we've really enjoyed. This was our third time at Waterleaf so that really says something. However, in this case, the third time was not the charm. Great décor, excellent service, but the food was a little disappointing. Three of the 6 had the duck breast special and all 3 said it was not hot. All of us felt the menu was limited and we were informed of 2 items on the menu that were no longer available when it came time to order. Not a bad dinner, but not up to the standard they set with our first 2 experiences.

The restaurant is beautiful and the service was very good. The bartender was very personable and mixed a good drink when we sat at the bar waiting for our party of 6. Three of the six of us ordered fish and were very disappointed with it as it was too dry and overcooked which fish should never be! The rest of the meal was good especially the mango crème brulee.

Went for a nice dinner with my husband and parents. Food was fantastic. Well thought out menu with plenty of choices. Staff was attentive and flexible to requests and questions. Noise level was not bad at all which is important to the parents; could easily carry on conversations. Bar staff helpful and innovative! Love coming here but only for special occassions. Pricey, but worth it!

I was very happy to finally dine at Waterleaf in Glen Ellyn. Although connected to the College of DuPage Culinary School, the food was far from a student prepared meal. The service staff and chefs are all seasoned professionals with an enormous attention to detail. Since I live in Glen Ellyn I was very happy to find this gem of a restaurant so close.

I had been to Waterleaf once before for the excellent Sunday brunch. This time the four of us went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Once again, we were all extremely satisfied with our choices ( soup & salad combo). The carrot ginger soup was delicious, and the Nicoise salad is a true winner. We were the only customers in the dining room....seemed a shame that more people were not here to take advantage of the excellent offerings, wonderful ambiance and attentive wait staff. Will definitely return and would recommend to anyone.

I have been to Waterleaf twice, and have been disappointed both times. The restaurant is well designed and laid out, tables are widely spaced and well equipped. The rooms are quiet, (maybe because the room was at least half empty) But the food is pedestrian.

Curious about the restaurant from its recent write ups in the local press, we decided to check it out for our anniversary dinner and am I glad we did! What a wonderful place! We arrived early for a cocktail in the bar- had a specialty martini that was yummy...the manager helped us select a bottle of wine to go with our meal that was reasonably priced and delicious. We elected to order the fixed price dinner, choice of starter, entree and dessert for $38 pp and everything was incredible! The service was spot on, food arrived at good pace and perfect temp, presentation was beautiful and flavors were outstanding! This place is a hidden gem! We sat by the window overlooking the lake....was a lovely evening and will definetly be returning!

My husband and I went to the culinary students' Classical Cuisine Dinner at Waterleaf and found the menu and preparation to be fabulous, the service attentive. The six-course menu (plus amuse and sweet mignardises at the end) includes champagne and a white and red wine to accompany the various courses. The wild mushroom soup with tarragon cream was rich and flavorful, while the varied flavors of the Fish Course of monkfish with peppers and patatas bravas paired beautifully with the Plat Principal of beef strip loin and a superb accompaniment: tender veal cheek and chestnut cannelloni sprinkled with braised brussels sprout leaves. A great menu that is only offered for two weeks. Look forward to the students' November menus.

Had read about Waterleaf, and was particularly persuaded by Phil Vettel's glowing review in the Chicago Tribune. No disappointment - outstanding cuisine and wine selection, several visits to our table by the maitre'd. As I commented to my wife, when you can dine at a restaurant like Waterleaf in the suburbs, there's no need to drive all the way downtown.

What a find! Wonderful atmosphere but more importantly, a brilliant concept associated with the College of Dupage. From the moment you enter to the time you are seated the staff is spectacular. Keep up the good work. If one had to complain about something and its not really a complaint but a restaurant managment impression is that I had a waiter that could have been more passionate about the menu but that may have been a personality issue more than anything. Fixable but innate. I wish you nothing but success.

We picked this restaurant because of it's proximity to the Opera at the College of Dupage. What a pleasant surprise to find a creative chef who really knows how to put food, herbs, and spices together. to make an exotic medley of flavors... and unique presentations. Every part of our dining experience was most excellent..All the way to the Mango Creme Brulee. I wish we had gourmet restaurants like this in Wisconsin. Waterleaf us the best restaurant I have ever been to in my 64 years on Earth.

We introduced our friends who live in the area of Waterleaf, but had never heard of it, to this great restaurant. We all had the special Prix Fixe menu for $38 for 3 courses. The tomato salads were so fresh and delicious and the butternut squash soup was perfectly seasoned. 3 of us had the trout, which was perfectly cooked and presented with tiny potatoes. One had the halibut, which she said was the best she had ever had. The sherbet dessert is beautifully presented and were delicious. The mango creme brûlée was not heavy and not too mango flavored. The chocolate dessert was my husband's favorite.
