It's important to note this is a teaching facility. But considering that it was a wonderful experience. The food was suburbly done, our waitress was confident and well trained. I am definitely going back and bringing friends. For the price and quality you can't beat it. *deducted rating for -lighting was too bright -lobster bisque wasn't to my liking (they did come by however many times and ask how it was, and I didn't complain.)

The restaurant has only been open a month. They had so many reservations for Saturday night that they couldn't serve everybody in a timely manner. We had 6pm reservations and hadn't received our entree at 7:25pm. We will try them again after they've had more time to coordinate their services. They need to know if their diners are going to the 8pm MAC show so that service can be expedited.

We had the prix fixe menu on a Friday night before going to the Mac for a concert. It was a delightful experience. The food was very tasty and the service was superb! We were very concerned that this new restaurant wasn't getting the play that it deserves, as very few patrons joined us for the evening. However, we will talk it up to our friends and relatives and see that it gets the crowds it so richly deserves. Thanks for a wonderful eveining.

A wonderful place to dine. We went to the French Classic dinner on Wednesday. The food was exquisite, all prepared and served by the students. The next time we go, we will be sure to have four people in order to have a table in the center of the restaurant. The tables for two are against a wall, one person sitting on a bench and the other person looking at a wall.

Waterleaf is simply excellent in every dimension. Their menu is compact but loaded with interesting opportunities. Crab cakes reminiscent of Chesapeake Bay, Tuscan fettucini with a marvelous, spicy sausage sauce that could have come from Sienna, Lobster bisque that rivals anything from Portland, Maine and a signature floating island dessert that might serve two or three diners. The service is highly professional and attentive, the decor is very nice and the pricing is extremely reasonable. Don't let the connection with College of DuPage suggest this is a student operation. Students apparently work there a couple of nights during the week, but this is Fine Dining that compares well with any restaurant in the Chicago Metro area.

We went on a recent Saturday evening. Everything is lovely...it is a tiny bit disconcerting to see so few diners in such a vast space. It would be better if they closed off the front area to seat people, rather than have them all over a large area. Food is good. Some issues with oversalting, but not too much. My filet was cooked perfectly. The bread pudding for dessert was outstanding. There were some hiccups with service, but nothing one wouldn't expect from a new place. They have a wonderful wine list. Overall, we enjoyed it very much and will definitely return.

This is a brand new restaurant on the Campus of College of DuPage, adjacent to the performing arts center. Evidently, students are heavily involved are Tues. and Wed. and the rest of the week a professional staff operate the restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch on a Saturday. The food and service with both great. The space is nicely designed, furnished and decorated with a wall of windows facing south towards a lake. We would highly recommend Waterleaf after our first experience. We will return.

  • Best Filet Mignon Ever!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 10/27/2011
My husband is a filet-mignon foodie - he's had them at the best Chicago Steakhouses (Mortons, Ruth Chris, Gibsons, Lawrys, Chop House...etc.), and he said the filet he had at Waterleaf was the BEST HE'S EVER EATEN. He orders medium-well, but Chef Jean-Louis didn't even have to butterfly the meat - it came out juicy and succulent - could cut it with a fork! My meal was amazing, too (flakes crabcakes and baby greens, fettucine with veal/sweet sausage). Delicious! We ended with the lemon souffle tartlet - buttery crust, velvety lemon on the inside. The wine list is spectacular, too. I'd recommend this place to anyone. I'm going to purchase Waterleaf certificates for Christmas - best gift ever!

Any atmosphere starts with the greeting - and Waterleaf opened with a lovely smile & followed through with lovely service. Chef Clerc obviously cares about his patrons & enjoys contributing & sharing in the nurturing of them. We were entirely comfortable staying at our table to catch up on our news even when our meal was over - a delight. A definite come-back & recommend to others.

Wonderful place for business entertaining. The food is amazing, the service is unobtrusive, the space is beautiful, and their is adequate privacy for business discussions. On my last visit the soup of the day was eggplant with roasted tomatoes--rich, creamy and flavorful. The fettucine with seafood was amazing--perfectly prepared pasta with shrimp, mussels, clams, oysters and the largest, most succulent scallop I have ever enjoyed. I promptly made another reservation for next week!

This was my second visit in a week to have dinner. The food was very good, however, I felt the chicken fricasee sauce was too concentrated because it became too overly seasoned and therefore, tasted too salty. It may have become too concentrated due to it sitting a bit longer as I was talking too much between the timing of meals that it sat longer in the kitchen than it should have been. However, the chicken was cooked perfectly and was not dry. I do like the addition of this fine dining restaurant in the western suburbs and will bring many new diners in the weeks to come. I plan on bringing more friends in the the food industry and are "fine foodies" like myself. Bravo to Waterleaf & to COD's Culinary Program! Best wishes, M. Gregg

First, the positives. * Beautiful ambiance. * Wish I had been there during the day because I bet the view out the huge windows would be beautiful. * My friend and I shared (and the restaurant kindly split our plates at no charge): tuna tartar (delicious), crab cakes (full of crab, very little filler, excellent) and cheese plate. * Service was outstanding, but we were one of only about 4 tables occupied last Saturday night. Could be improved: * Lobster bisque was so salty, we could not finish our cups; restaurant did not remove this from our bill and I should have asked. * It appeared we had a bread plate and knife for each of us at the table, but none was served. * The restaurant is a bit difficult to find on campus.

Started with French Onion Soup. The flavor was deep and the sweet and wonderful flavor of the onions came through brilliantly. Next was Fricassée de Poulet Au Vin Rouge. The chicken was moist and tender enough to cut with a butter knife. The mushrooms in red wine sauce were the perfect accompaniment. Our table shared four desserts, The Waterleaf Floating Island, which was light and creamy and just the perfect amount of sweetness, Grand Marnier Crème Brûlée, yummm, Chocolate Lava Cake with Mint Fudge Heart–the mint was such a yummy surprise and Bourbon Raisin Bread Pudding which was baked to perfection and the Bourbon sauce was to die for. The ambiance was wonderful and the service was top notch. It was a wonderful, memorable evening.
