Diner Reviews
  • "We really enjoyed the food....seemed to take a little extra time to receive our main course but we didn't mind!"

  • "My husband and I went out on a date without the kids and decided to try water front wines. The food was amazing, our server was very nice and knowledgeable. Very nice evening out!"

  • "March 27, 2013 great food and service as usual on this Thursday, great food, great beverage selection. Had been enjoying the food and atmosphere for 8 years, whenever in Kelowna, always a go to spot,.."

  • "Wine servings could have been bigger but overall good!"

  • "Love the food - did not want to brush my teeth after dinner! :-) The service was great! One of the girls came over and asked us if we wanted to move because there was a big group of women beside us about 10 women! The restaurant was worried they would be a bit loud for our anniversary dinner! We loved the offer but we were fine! I recommend this place to everybody! Great food, ambience and a great place for a special occasion. The best!"

  • "We were celebrating our 3 year anniversary and everything was absolutely perfect. The food was amazing!"

  • "We had an excellent dinner = one halibut special, one of the roast chicken and shared the special dessert tart. Flavours of the meal were spot on, great service and very friendly staff. We had an early dinner (6:00) and by the time we left, we could hardly hear what the other was saying. Very intimate setting, but conversation is amplified to an almost uncomfortable level. Would be much different in the summer on the patio. Will try again."

  • "The food was so-so. Trout had the texture of a slushy--I could barely eat it. The noise level in the restaurant was almost unbearable. They need some sort of sound buffers. I can't figure out why this place is popular. The food is way overpriced--and not all that good. The ambience is cluttered and noisy--the server didn't tell us the evening specials. Maybe they were better than what we got off the menu but we'll never know--we'll never go back--DON'T order the trout--it should be served with a straw."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Waterfront Restaurant yet again. The excellent staff, the great vibe, the ever changing menu that strives to interest and delight, all add to a very enjoyable experience. With Chef Filatow at the helm, it is one of the best in the Okanagan."

  • "We have been fortunate enough to have dined in some of the best restaurants in North America....French Laundry, Jean Georges NYC, Le Bernardin and many Michelin starred spots in France. We were well on the way to proclaiming the Okanagan a "fine dining wasteland" until our meal at Waterfront Wines. The chef cooks and presents with love and a level of skill we have not found anywhere in the Okanagan. Small plates done very well...we will be back!"

  • "I have wanted to visit this restaurant for some time and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. The wine list was good but overpriced for the pour size. The food was ok but other restaurants in town offer much more exciting, tasty food and bigger servings for a much better price. I was also not impressed with the layout or the interior finishings of the restaurant- there are many better dining options in the Okanagan- poor value for money."

  • "My spouse and I snuck away for an "us" evening checking in to a nearby hotel. We knew this place was close by and had been meaning to try it. Arrived to a bustling atmosphere and intoxicating smells. Our table wasn't ready yet but they sat us at the bar while we waited. Service was spot on so we decided to remain at the wood with an awesome bartender. Food was to die for. Fresh and perfectly cooked. The bartender was well versed in wine pairings and offered excellent choices. Overall a fun atmosphere, down to earth people and exceptional dining experience. Will be back again and again!"

  • "Very good; but my husband's meal- short rib was sent out cold . Somehow they had forgotten to reheat from the fridge."

  • "Super professional service, fantastic wine list, exceptional food & a great overall experience."

  • "For those who have not dined here, the food and service is excellent. Price is on the high end and quantity is not what this restaurant is known for. Always a favorite of mine:)"

  • "Food exceptional presentation phenomenal, chef takes great care to ensure each plate comes out perfect, ambience, wine all very good, service was just okay, seemed to be only one waiter for the restaurant. Was half way through my meal, waiter came by I asked to see the wine list which was brought promptly but waiter never returned till I had finished my meal to ask if I would like another glass of wine?"

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary with what we were told would be good food. It was truly delicious. The chef has an excellent palate - we had the roast elk and chicken special as entrees - as starter the beet salad was a perfect blend of tastes and textures and the parsnip soufflé (?) melted in the mouth. Accompanied by a bottle of Fairview Cellars' Bucket of Blood it was fabulous. In the restaurant side, with few tables, Decor is a bit spare, but the food was easily the best we have ever had in Kelowna."

  • "Met a friend for an early Friday dinner and was happy that we came early as the tables are quite close together but we were the first to arrive and the room was quiet and relaxing.... by the end of our meal as all tables had filled the small space that we had felt quite claustrophobic and it was very noisy .... definitely would not come here for a quiet romantic dinner! The food was great (loved the selections of cheese) and the service excellent. This is not a kid friendly restaurant but I I would recommend Waterfront Wines for a small group night out for sure."

  • "our waiter was very good, just a little puzzling when he brought me a second drink without me asking for it, although I didn't mind I'm sure some would. I was very disappointed when one of our guests meal was forgotten. the waiter admitted he forgot to order it which i respect and suggested that another guest split her meal which was exactly the same. that was smart. we were in a hurry to get to a show so by the time the forgotten meal arrived everyone else was done eating and wanted to go so we were not late for the show. we ended up just packing it up. this would not have been an issue at all for me but the restaurant charged us full price for the forgotten meal and the unordered drink. it really ended up ruining our experience"

  • "$$$ 2- people will run you 150.00+ but you won't be disappointed with the quality of food. We had Caesar salad (which was I thought was ok), crab bisque (delicious could have licked the bowl), both of us ordered the Flat iron steak which was done to perfection and probably the best steak I've eaten in a long time, shared a chocolate dessert with freshly made ice-cream and 3 glasses of wine between the 2 of us. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu, professional, friendly and pleasant. The food was served timely as expected. The restaurant itself is small and trendy with a large bar and a open kitchen a little more casual dress than I heard, you can wear jeans and fit right in. I'd go again for the food."

  • "Exellent food and service but aqmbience is lacking. We did not find dining here any different since the expansion, food still great, staff very good. Have celebated Valenties Day here two hears running, will likely not return for that occcasion."

  • "I took my sweetheart here for Valentines dinner. We got this incredible corner table which set the night off perfect. The food was excellent and the drinks were great. Highly recommended!"

  • "The food is amazing! All our meals were exceptional. The dessert menu could be expanded and a bit more creative but our mains were outstanding. The service was also exceptional and we were well taken care of. The only complaint we had was the table location: we made our reservations over one week prior for a birthday celebration and we were given a table beside the bathroom and kitchen. We noticed empty tables out front and wondered why we were seated there."

  • "We went to Waterfront Wines with friends on Jan 18th and it was the first time for all 4 of us. It was everything we had been told by our friends and acquaintances. The food was outstanding and our server was awesome. We will definitely return. If there was anything negative about the experience it would be that the noise level was a little higher than we would have preferred but not so high that it interfered with our conversation at the table."

  • "All around fun evening. Food was first class , as was the server (Josh) who was very knowledgeable about food and the wine. Wine selection included some Similkameen options that were real gems. Was small but lively and modern. We are new to the area so are pleased to find a great restaurant. Will definitely be back."

  • "This place is cozy and most of the staff are friendly. Tables are close to each other but not intrusive. Chef came to a few of the tables... not sure if he knew them or if that was normal practice. Food was amazing... menu was limited but still something for most and perhaps moves you a bit out of your comfort zone (ever had beef cheek?). Wine list was extensive and staff seemed to have good product knowledge. A bit on expensive side for wine (given we are located among numerous world renowned wineries) but that is one unfortunate aspects of most establishments to gouge you on the liquor sales. Dessert was exceptional (we had the poached pear mixed plate). Overall meal was good value for a nice night out."

  • "Great service. Great food. Great everything. Small warm atmosphere but not claustrophobic. I will continue to go here every chance I get when I visit Kelowna. A great place to catch up over an amazing meal with close friends."

  • "The dining experience is fabulous. Mark and staff create dishes that are stellar. The hedgehog mushroom soup was to die for! Our main courses were delicious...wouldn't mind seeing a little more variety on the menu - not much of a change since we were last in town in September. The cocktail menu is always a delight - lots of interesting new tastes....we always try a new cocktail when we are in!! Staff are very pleasant and the service excellent! Cheers!!!"

  • "quiet Monday evening. Excellent service from the staff. The food was excellent. Extensive good wine list. First time back since the renovations. Much better and less crowded dining area."

  • "Heard nothing but good things about this restaurant. Cold, raining Monday night end November - lace was virtually empty. Wine list was great. Ceasar salad very nice indeed - dressing a signature taste altho cheese in the dressing. Crouton suspiciously liked boxed. Duck breast was perfectly done with lovely plate glaze - lobster mushroom bread pudding bland. Vegetables were stellar. Our other plate was a pheasant duo of sausage/breast. Tasty but not memorable - the gratin served alongside was. I will go back - Vancouver prices just not the elan or quality."

  • "There's no doubt that Waterfront Wines is the premier resstaurant in Kelowna. Amazing food in an inviting atmosphere. The open kitchen and intimate setting is second to none."

  • "Absolutely hands down our favourite, staple food place to eat while in Kelowna. Have never had an average meal. As regulars, we see consistent excellent food and service. Menu changes on a seasonal basis, with daily/weekly specials often tailored to locally sourced product of the season. Favourite dishes include the lentil perogies, scallops, halibut, flatiron steak, foie gras, gnocchi, and elk. Favourite dessert has been the fritters. Wonderful local wines with the odd out of region special wines brought in for variety and assorted cocktails that also are tailored to the season. Waterfront wines is a "must" visit while in Kelowna."

  • "The food here deters from the fact that it's not actually on the water. Don't need a view when the food is the main feature! Great cocktail list, lots of locally sourced food and an ever changing cheese list makes for a great night out!"

  • "This restaurant serves outstanding food. The dishes are creative, beautifully prepared and presented. We had "House Smoked Wild Salmon, Flat-iron Steak and Chocolate Panacotta." Obviously the freshest of ingredients are used because the combination of flavours was the best we experienced in Kelowna. Terry and Margaret"

  • "The food was delicious from start to finish. The gorgeous bowl of brocollini soup had a smooth texture and fabulous flavour. The sides with the beef main course were as good as the meat itself. The apple fritter dessert was unexpectedly light with crisp and unique flavours including black pepper ice cream. I wanted to lick my plate after all 3 courses...and that hasn't occurred to me since childhood :)"

  • "The elk and Angus beef were cooked perfectly! Black cod was as well. We left feeling very content. Very good price and excellent service. Thanks for a wonderful evening!"

  • "Enjoyed the food. Although small portion, very tasty with good presentation. Restaurant is a bit small and crowded and a little noisy. A great spot for the girls to get together."
    Dined on 10/16/2013
  • "Food and service was great.. However, last time I dined here it was a bit better so only because I know the potential is what made my experience not as amazing. This time the calamari wasn't as tender and the batter not as light and crispy. Also I had the duck and my entire meal was slightly cold. Like I said, still great.. I just had higher expectations because I know It can be better"
