A word from Waterfront Kitchen
A seed-to-table restaurant that sources ingredients as locally and seasonally as possible, Waterfront Kitchen offers sweeping views of the Baltimore harbor from the western-most tip of Thames Street in historic Fells Point. During the growing season, we partner with Living Classroom’s BUGS (Baltimore Urban Gardening with Students) program to grow our own fresh produce and teach inner-city grade school kids about the joys of good nutrition and gardening. Year-round, we celebrate the beauty of nature’s bounty on the plate, and offer wines from makers that share our commitment to feeding body and soul. Mission-driven dining never tasted so good.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Wait staff was exceptional but the kitchen gets very low marks for timing. We were a group of 7 and the second seating of the evening. We waited 45 mins for our appetizers and 1 hour after that for our entrees. Had to believe the kitchen lacked appropriate staffing or made very poor timing decisions."

  • "The Study of Root Vegetables is listed as an entree and was really tasty, but I don't think it would have been filling enough for dinner on its own. Luckily, my friend got the fillet and we split both. We finished things off by sharing the 20-hour apple galetta which was flaky/buttery pastry perfection."

  • "This was 2nd time to the Watefront Kitchen for sooner and once again it did not disappoint! Our food and service was outstanding! Highly recommend!"

  • "The water view is really the only reason to stop by this place, if it's a sunny day Food is decent and a little overpriced. What is really annoying (and a lot of other reviews echo this) is the front desk. Never accomodating and multiple times they would not seat us outside, even though the place was practically empty. I go back every once in a while, hoping for a better atitude, but it never changes."

  • "This was one of our best dining experience at this restaurant. The service, which at times had been approximate, was stellar. Our waitress was knowledgeable, energetic and very nice. The food was excellent too. The terrine of smoked rockfish and salmon was surprising because of its "aspic" version, but very tasty and fresh. A light (tarragon maybe?) mayonnaise on the side would have been a nice touch. The fish (trout and fluke) were very tasty. The desserts, which in the past have been a weaker part of the food experience at Waterfront were outstanding. The butter pecan bread pudding was perfect, and the semifreddo very creamy. Add to the experience a creative and intriguing cocktail list, it was the perfect way to enjoy a Saturday evening."

  • "I was extremely disappointed. I ordered the Dry Aged Sirloin Steak, which I love and always eat at Capital Grille, where it is always excellent! This steak was full of gristle, was not cooked to order, and frankly I have purchased Strip steaks in Safeway and BJ's that were much better than this for $7-$8! To charge someone $39 for a cut of meat that poor quality is a crime! My date ordered the filet, which was a better quality but not cooked the way she ordered it. The waitress knew very little about the menu. No one came by to ask how the food was. (I wanted to tell them) We asked them to call a cab for us and they told us to walk down the street and we could find one! We had to walk about 4 blocks. I'll never go back to this place!!"

  • "Came here with my mother when she was visiting from out of town. Was not disappointed! Great food, good service, and we could only imagine that the view would've been even better if the weather were nice enough to sit outside. Will definitely return for special nights out."

  • "The four of us thought the food quite tasty, but the service was ,,, eccentric. We ordered four different lunches but were served three different items, one of them duplicated. The meals were served randomly to the four of us, adding some to the confusion as we got the plates in front of the correct person (complicated by the duplicated item). And the shared appetizer arrived after we had started the entrees."

  • "All the food was very good, as were the mimosas. It's location is good so you can walk through fells point afterwards or towards the inner harbor."

  • "We celebrated 2 birthdays. Many moderately-priced menu items were unavailable at dinner hour 7:00p.m. The vegetarian entrée roasted root vegetables were dry with salty parsnips. The trout and rice were dry, no sauces/seasonings. The red wine list was not extensive. The duck confit appetizer was moist, tender. The dessert dry small-sized apple pastry had no spices. The waiter was pleasant and helpful. It has a lovely view of the surrounding wharfs . The number of tables is limited. Parking is $5.00. Bill for 4 with two bottles of wine was nearly $300; this did not seem a good value. The fluke (flounder) was fine. The restaurant provided free desserts (brownie topped with a rich chocolate ice cream) for the two birthday guests."

  • "The restaurant is lovely with a great view and the food was good, but the service was abysmal. I will give it one more try because it is such a lovely spot for a restaurant and the food was good, but I will make sure we don't get the same server. She brought our appetizers promptly but then we waited 45 minutes for her to take our order, after flagging her down twice. She took our order then came back about 10 minutes later asking if we were ready to order (which we already had, of course). Then she came back to confess that she needed to take our order again. When our food came out, 3 orders were correct one was wrong. No surprise there. If it were any other restaurant I wouldn't bother going back but it's worth another try."

  • "This place is dynamite. My girlfriend and I went for my birthday off a recommendation from a friend. The duck leg appetizer is so good that we almost ordered another one and the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin is juicy, flavorful and rich in flavor, which pork sometimes has a tough time achieving. Overall I would say that this place is a must-go whether you're visiting the area or have lived there all your life. Cheers! S"

  • "Uninspired in its breadth and depth of entrees and a bit overpriced, however, the food was good (not great). It's also a smaller restaurant so be prepared for a cacophony of noise when the dining room is full. The location is intimate and the views are terrific."

  • "sweet and sour note:I know calling a few hrs before my reservation to ask if my son could just stop by our table for drinks and apps, was asking a big favor on a holiday. But hey, it was the national day of LOVE, so I figured it wouldn't be too hard a request. The reply I received was NO, we are totally booked and the tables are too small to add another person. BTW, I had made the reservation well in advance. My son decided to stop by anyway, and once we were all there, the maitre'd was very gracious and added another chair for my son to share some love with us another couple, good friends of ours. Kudos to Waterfront for being so nice. On this note, our dinner was cheerful and happy. Our server was superb! Love her...We will be back!"

  • "Atmosphere was quaint with a great view. Waiter was pleasant and attentive. Great cocktail list. Loved the pork belly and the dark chocolate panna cotta for dessert. We dined during restaurant week but should have looked at the online menu closer; their 3-course meals were $35.00/pp and almost every dish had an up-charge. The downside to our meal were the distracting folks sitting next to us (the tables along the wall with the bench seating are close together) who apparently knew the chef. Not only did these folks get double the portion sizes of ours but they weren't charged for some of their meal - which they loudly proclaimed. Moral of the story here is that it is good to know the chef."

  • "Went for restaurant week and was a bit disappointed. We were a party of 4 and each of us had an issue with our food. The chicken dish was mostly bone and was not cooked all the way (pink chicken.... yuck)! The mussels were great, but some of the shells were empty (is this a joke?). The pear dessert sounded delightful, but one bite of it, and you would have thought you bit into a stack of band-aids (seriously!). The staff were more than accommodating and the atmosphere was top notch. However, for the typical cost of the cuisine, it is not up to par by a long shot. Will give it another try for brunch, but if it results in another disappointment, I will not be back."

  • "Affordable, scenic, and wildly underrated, this awesome spot on the water is the perfect backdrop to a chill lunch with a family member or a poppin night with friends. Amazing customer service. Our waiter supplied us with a wide range of information as to where all of their ingredients come from-- from the lobster to the cheese to the herbs. Note: the sandwiches are huge and affordable. I love huge affordable sandwiches. If you get there when they first open, it's a very calm, scenic experience, then as the floodgates open, it gets louder but not so loud that it gives you a headache. This place knows how to balance it all."

  • "This was my first time and I came during restaurant week, so there were interesting offering and great service. The view was great. I love the mission of the place and will return when I get back to Baltimore. I enjoyed the catfish and salad. Everyone in my party was accommodated"

  • "Our dinner was very pleasant at the Waterfront Kitchen. We had a glass of the Noble Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc which was to die for. I started with the Chicken Liver mousse which was delicious and the serving was much more than I could finish, this could easily be shared with two people or more. My entree was the Pumpkin Pasta Lasagna which was very good though rather dense. I ended with the Chocolate Panna Cotta which was absolutely delicious. Service throughout the meal was attentive. My one complaint had to do with the seating arrangement, being a couple, we were seated at a table for 2 between two other tables for 2 and the space between tables was minimal, we almost felt we were dining with the people on either side of us."

  • "overall enjoyed the meal, but appetizer and main were pleasing and well executed. Service level dipped dramatically after our entrees- had to wait forever for desert. Once it came- wasn't worth the wait. Unfortunate end to what had otherwise been a pleasant experience. Great atmosphere- but a little loud."

  • "Very good Sunday brunch, outstanding and friendly service, good veggie omelet, and a very good view of the harbor. The food was very fresh and the ambience is very modern and open. I would highly recommend!"

  • "Not only is the experience superb, but the restaurant provides employment for at-risk kids and ex-offenders. I've never had a better meal or service. And the view can't be beat."

  • "Granted, our visit was on the 1st night of Restaurant Week, which might explain the skimpy portions of the entrees; but there was nothing outstanding about the food, and the desserts were rather lackluster."

  • "Family dined here for first time on a slow, snowy night, to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We benefited from attentive, sensitive service, and sage wine advice. Had chosen Waterfront Kitchen because of its profile as a "seed-to-table" restaurant and the menu was chock full of local/regional/seasonal selections. Most were executed very well - my family enjoyed their selections. Oyster stew was a bit sweeter than I expected, though overall pleasant. My rockfish was cooked just right, but the dish lacked a certain something - a bit bland - and the corn "shovel cake" with it was dry and hard on the pan side. Will definitely return to try more dishes, enjoy the service and look for a little sharper execution from the kitchen."

  • "My boyfriend wanted to go out and have dinner for his birthday. I knew this before hand but thought he would choose a location. He didn't and left it up to me he says because I have better taste. I guess! Anyway, I know he likes new and interesting places so I made a reservation through the app. While he got dressed. We were about half an hour away and luckily they had a reservation available for that time. We arrived and the host immediately greeted us and asked if we had reservations. We said yes and were seated by the window in a lovely scenic area of the restaurant. We were assisted by three staff members which constantly checked on us and replenished our drinks also. Our food was awesome, perfect appearance and temperature."

  • "I was very pleasantly surprised by this place - a very nice farm-to-table menu. Catfish could have been spicier. Rockfish should have come with more vegetables. Service was excellent. They are very flexible in how they prepare each dish and allow you to substitute sides. Not sure why they can't leave a peppermill on the table."

  • "Dont get the hanger steak, or the bacon wrapped pork chops both were undercooked. The pumpkin mushroom lasgena was very salty and rich would not eat it again.Vegetarian dish was such a small and unfavorful."

  • "Beautiful space, great views, great concept. Loved the experience of being there. Wait staff attentive but not intrusive. The food was interestingly presented, and was good, not great. My scallops were nicely cooked, but very over-spiced and over salted, hiding their natural delicate taste. The goat and eggplant terrine sounded very good, but in the end was a bit like a horizontal slice of a wrap: doughy and heavy. The dessert offerings were also all too heavy: there was nothing light or delicate to end the meal (except an off-puttingly large bowl of ice-cream). IN general then, the food needs work-- needs a lighter hand. But the atmosphere, service and location--- first rate."

  • "Arrival went well... greeted immediately by valet on cold evening. He was quite pleasant, despite the temp. Table for two was ready and offered the scenic view I requested. A server greeted us quickly and we selected a bottled water, which was poured quickly. Our primary server then greeted us and we selected our wine (their own cabernet sauvignon). Wine was mediocre, and too expensive for the character. We both ordered the filet and were equally disappointed. The portions were typical, even a little large, but the steaks were extremely tough, not the tender beef we expected. The service declined dramatically once the entrees were served; we were never visited to see if the meals were satisfactory. Sat with finished plates for 20 minutes."

  • "Our guests enjoyed good food, that was well served in a very pleasant atmosphere and at a reasonable price with a wonderful view of the harbor. The pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon on top of a layered sweet potato was tender with a smokey flavor. The pumpkin lasagna with a bechamel sauce was divine and the chicken under a brick was tasty and tender. The Day Boat Scallops and the scallops were very nicely cooked but I was not a big fan of the peppered topping."

  • "The view of the harbour is spectacular. I requested a warm location with a nice view and was definitely not disappointed. The oyster soup was exceptional, the half ham and cheese sandwich was good quality, but uninspired. Bread a bit dry, for my taste. This said, I will otherwise be back."
