WaterbarEverything went really wellEverything went really well except or the service which was slow.we had to wait a while for the drinks and in between courses. Very happy that the restaurant made it very special evening to accommodate my request of celebrating my husbands.s birthday. That was just awesome.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAll is well with Waterbar! All is well with Waterbar! The scenic setting is everyone's wish for dining in San Francisco, plus the food and ambience is very good! We have primarily enjoyed the restaurant for lunch; however, an evening of dining over the sparkling waterfront of San Francisco would be quite pleasant. Our several visits to this restaurant have always been most positive.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this restaurant!Delicious food, great view, but above all the service is excellent. The bartender is the friendliest guy in town.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBoth our waiter in the barBoth our waiter in the bar area and at our table were by far two of the best servers I have had in years!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood To Go OnceI was glad to go once. The food was good, but seriously overpriced for what we got. The prices were not outrageous and the quality was good, but the portions were very inconsistent with the pricing (I laughed when I saw how little halibut I got for $38). With that said, the service was incredible, the views and decor were wonderful, and the wine list was extensive. It was a good place to go once, but I see no need to return.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWaterbar seldom disappoints,Waterbar seldom disappoints, and often enchants. On this brunch visit, we were seated in the back room with a somewhat less dramatic view, but it allowed my of out-of town visitors to be more immersed in the food, The enchantment began with a dozen chilled and perfectly displayed oysters. Two bottles of Prosecco bridged the gap to the entrees, which all arrived at the same time. Whitefish was subbed for the sold-out sole, and was sweet and flaky without being too delicate. The Prosciutto Stratta and Spring Vegetable salads were crisp, full of flavor and satisfying with sides of fried green tomatoes, tempura asparagus and sausage. The meal was capped with a pair of superb ice cream sandwiches and Espresso Creme Brulee. We left again pleased.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the lobster roll andI had the lobster roll and it was delicious. Wonderful brioche was filled to overflowing with large chunks of lobster. It was accompanied by a small bowl of drawn butter, making a very rich meal. Having a small salad of thinly sliced fennel and sugar snap pea pods with a tasty dressing helped to mitigate the richness of the lobster roll, now dowsed in drawn butter! Housemade potato chips were terrific. For dessert, always scumptious at Waterbar, I had the strawberry rhubarb galette with frangipane, elderflower ice cream and candied rhubarb sauce. Heaven!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWater Bar - Dine About TownWaterBar is great place to dine if you find yourself along the Embarcadero. We went for Dine About Town and we pleasantly please with the lunch menu. We had the vanilla french toast and bacon poached eggs. Both great choices. The french toast was a great blend of fresh and sweet with its berries, vanilla and maple syrup combination. The poached eggs has a delightful piece of candied bacon on top of poached eggs and banana toast. It was great combo and very unexpected.
If you want to add a fun side, the apricot sausage are a good choice.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have returned to the WaterWe have returned to the Water Bar many times. It never disappoints.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat introduction to WaterbarI am not really a foodie, but enjoy a good meal.
I tried Waterbar for the first time (solo diner) during the Dine About Town event. I added a glass of Sauvignon Blanc to the prix fixe lunch. I ate inside (there is a patio option). Everything was delightful (Service, Pace, Food, Wine, View.)6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOn one of those rare sunnyOn one of those rare sunny days in San Francisco, sitting on the patio sharing oysters and wine with great company makes the world seem right. The service was attentive without being intrusive; the waiter diplomatically explain the pricing of the wine when ordered with the Dine About Town menu versus the regular price. We all ordered the lunch Dine About Town menu and the corn soup was delicious. The tuna, grilled a few shades over medium rare, sat on top of an interesting melange of grains and vegetables and was good, albeit a little drier than I would like.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food - wish we hadVery good food - wish we had been here on an expense-paid business account - pricey. Portions were moderate - seafood was very fresh and beautifully presented. Service for our table was friendly but slow - I'm afraid we were not ordering as many bottles of pricey wine as the numerous groups around us. Restaurant was lively and loud to say the least.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch on the bayWent to the city for day trip to escape the valley heat, lunch at Waterbar was our planned food destination.
Ambiance superb,aquariums provide tranquil atmosphere.
Excellent wine list, but $1 oysters could not be beat for price, freshness, or presentation.
Soft shell crab, salmon sashimi, and spring pea soup were all brilliantly prepared and presented.
An outstanding meal in a beautiful setting6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery attentive serviceFood, view and ambience were tops. And even better were the attentive staff who went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. Unable to seat us at the time we had reserved, they more than made up for the delay with complimentary drinks, appetizers, and deserts. I've rarely experienced a staff as professional and generous in caring for its patrons. They gave us a wonderful evening.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Service! We received top notch service at Waterbar while visiting in early June. Our server was extremely knowledgeable of both the food and wine. My boyfriend is vegan and they without any hesitation they made an amazing dish for him that was not on the menu. I would definitely recommend Waterbar to any friend!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNever DisappointsLocation is amazing and the food is outstanding. Took clients here for a business dinner and we all raved about it. The halibut was really delicious. Excellent place for a seafood lover.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom start to finish, theFrom start to finish, the hostess, the drinks, the table with a view, the wait staff , the menu, the pace, the ambience---it was all perfect as we celebrated a special person's birthday. What a great San Francisoc special occasion spot!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal Fresh SeafoodBest fresh oysters - and most extensive selection - in the SF Bay Area (if you are easily overwhelmed by too much choice, you'll never go wrong trusting the chef's selection). Phenomenal flavors and beautiful plating on both the salmon and cod entrees. A meal at Waterbar is always a treat and this was no exception.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding RestaurantI decided to treat myself and a friend to a very good meal before seeing a Giants game and selected Waterbar based on its location and seafood menu. We were seated in the back room where it was quiet (for a while) and the view of the Bay Bridge was great. The food was outstanding. We had the lobster salad, dungeness crab cocktail, grilled salmon, and Atlantic cod. I'll be back to experience more of the menu. The service at the front desk and from our waiter was also excellent. I'm on a no dairy diet and our waiter ensured our meal was dairy free. Nice.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly RecommendedI first heard of Waterbar on the radio, some foodie review that mentioned the Bay Bridge art project. Someone else recommended it for their oyster selection. A third recommendation came from a waiter at another restaurant... So, we made a reservation. Ended up sitting at the bar and cancelling the reservation as the bar also had great views and excellent service. My only reservation from 5 stars is cost. Overall cost is still a bit high, but for an up and coming, trendy, foodie place, I guess it should be expected.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch by the Bay, on the outsideLunch by the Bay, on the outside patio on a warm sunny day, it can't be beat. Quiche with wild mushrooms, and poached farm egg with roast pork loin in a tomato/cilantro sauce were just right, with a good glass of wine. Watching the sailboats was an added treat. We recommend it.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprise Surprise!!We were so pleasantly surprised by Waterbar. We know Pat Kuletto's other terrific places but had not been here. With the added ambiance of the light show on the Bridge, this place is fantastic.. Our food was over the top terrific. REALLY REALLY good..6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sunday Brunch! On our Sunday brunch visit 6/2/13, we were seated with a stunning view of the bay on a calm day (very soothing.) Of note, the service was outstanding. The ceviche appetizer was excellent. All main courses were top notch. Nothing disappointed in celebrating a once in a lifetime event.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMStunning view of the bayThe view at the patio is great especially during a sunny day. However, we went there during Sat brunch time and the seafood over all is not really fresh for it’s price and location. The taste is also just ok. My entree side potato is over cook and dry.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation celebrationWe thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and found the service was above and beyond!
We came for both our sons graduation celebrations and found it to be a special venue for the occasion. Thank you!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous ExperienceThe wait staff was very well versed in what was on the menu...very good in helping us make the right selection. Was very accommodating to gluten free diners. The food...how do I describe it...we both had the lobster salad. The salad was packed with many different vegetables with lobster on top...lots of flavored...excellent. I had the salmon and my husband ate the ahi. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals...again interesting flavors. We finished our meal with a flour less chocolate cake...out of this world! The whole dining experience was a highlight to our weekend in the city,5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat viewWe had a terrific view of the lights on the bay bridge. The food, the wine, the ambience and service were all terrific.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful lunch with a viewI recently had very special family members visiting and I wanted a memorable San Francisco experience for lunch. I could not have picked a better place than Waterbar. I booked my reservation for a party of four at 1:15 p.m. through OpenTable and we were offered immediate indoor seating but since it was a beautiful day we opted to wait a bit for a table outside. The view was stunning, the service attentive and the food was stellar. I had been to Waterbar previously for dinner but I will definitely return for their amazing prix fixe lunch, $1.00 oysters (everyday!) and the singular view.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful waitress set the toneEverything delightful, especially waitress who was in control .5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentCould not have asked for better service, and the food was impeccable.
They went all out for our Anniversary celebration.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you love OystersWaterBar is the place to go. They have an extensive list of oysters. Each day they also have a featured oyster - they are $1 each until 5:30. Great views of the bay and the Bay Bridge.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMNice to be backWe are from Philadelphia and hadn't been to San Francisco for a few years. But we were excited to return to Waterbar after our lovely experience last time. The food, staff and location with the beautiful Bay Bridge view were as wonderful as we remembered. Waterbar will be part of every visit we make to San Francisco!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAttentive serviceWe were very impressed with the service at waterbar, to say nothing of the gorgeous view. With a reservation we were seated in the back room, but within minutes were offered a window table. The view of the lights show on the bridge was excellent. We got good advice on wine and desserts and a nice remembrance of our 40 year anniversary.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMwill not disappoint!!!We had a number of courses and everything was delicious, creative and beautifully presented. The service was wonderful. The gulf shrimp were amazing. you can get 1/2 or whole Maine lobster prepared in a number of ways. We also had oysters, mixed greens with baked goat cheese and blackberry rhubarb vinegrette, the pea raviolo, creamy asparagus soup, the anchovies marinated in champagne, and the chocolate flourless cake. All were exceptionally good. I highly recommend this restaurant.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA little disjointedWe've become regulars at Waterbar since discovering it has one of the best views of the Bay Bridge lights. And, to be fair, this time two members of our party had a flight delay. We started without them but everyone was informed they were coming. When they called 10 minutes out, I reminded the waiter, the bus boy and the sommelier that we needed one more chair and silverware set. Still, nothing came until after our friends arrived. A little awkward.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best service in SFWow! The food was so creative from appetizers to desert. I have been to many of the top 100 restaurants in the Bay Area but none of them had such incredible service. Even the bar tender with his handle bar mustache greeted us with big smile on his face. Everyone seems to love working at Waterbar and they all make the dining experience very special. Also, the view of the bridge with the light installation is wonderful. My wife and I were really impressed.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fabulous, serviceThe food was fabulous, service was great. Pricey but it's SF. We really enjoyed our meal. Would liken
To know more about their brunch.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMClass ActMy husband and I had our small wedding reception there two years ago. Everything was perfect. For our two year anniversary dinner we felt the same. Great drinks, great food, great service, beautiful environment.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dining experienceReservation made using Open Table requesting romantic seating for two - mission accomplished! The ambiance with near floor to ceiling windows and the same with the pillar aquariums, along with the view of the bay and bridge was captivating. Excellent menu, primarily sea food options as well as an oyster specific menu listing a large variety of oyster choices from various geographical locations. The food and service was excellent. There is no doubt we will be back.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSan Francisco GemSo glad that the lobster roll is back as they have the greatest gourmet chefs in the kitchen. The service is always at the highest standard. The utmost professionals serve you on every level. The food is always amazing and love the new menu. The ambiance is beyond words and what a view the view is worth the trip and the price alone. Getting a table outside on a sunny day is short of heaven. Thank you to the amazing staff at the WaterBar.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch spotEnjoyed a great lunch here. We were celebrating wedding dress shopping and it was a lot of fun. The seafood was wonderful and very reasonably priced for lunch. Wine list was great and the server handled our rowdy party very well.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for food and view! WeGreat for food and view! We arranged the time so we could seet he BAy Bridge lights come on - absolutely beautiful!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSan Francisco at it's finestI chose this restaurant for a birthday for some visiting friends. They wanted to go somewhere that had amazing food and felt truly San Francisco. They wanted to have the San Francisco view that made them look around and remember this experience many years later. The food was to die for! I don't eat seafood, so I chose the few non-seafood items on the list. The rest of the party eats seafood and LOVED their meals (especially the oysters)! Our view of the Bay Bridge light show was phenomenal. The fish tanks added another extra special touch. Parking was also a breeze, another plus! Can't wait to go back!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal, nice settingThe venue is hard to beat - overlooking the bay and the bridge. The food was especially unique and tasty. The chef combined great flavors and unique combinations - especially in sauces. My guests had a very nice line-caught tuna - which one claimed was the best seafood dish they had ever had. I had a nice halifbut, which was wonderful. Service was good - with a good focus on the food and its features. Not stuffy but a very nice environmetn for clients, important guests, or a date.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMawesome foodhad a great lunch here, the $1 oysters were fantastic. The waiter was a little slow and getting him to pick up my cc after he brought the check was an exercise in irritation. overall though it was still fantastic5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and amazing viewGood seafood. Great view on the Bay Bridge.
Awesome service, classy mood, huge wine selection.
Very convenient car service.
I bookmarked it to go back again and again!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful restaurant.Ask forBeautiful restaurant.Ask for a table near the window. The light show on the bridge is worth going to the restaurant for.our waiter who was initially a little standoffish warmed up considerably and was extremely helpful and charming. The food was superb, well presented and delicious. Memorable evening.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWater-STAR!We went to Waterbar for the view of the Bay Bridge Nightly Artwork. That was absolutely incredible - best view of the lights in town. Once we were there, we found a great atmosphere with excellently prepared and perfectly presented food. Everything about the place was superb. The service was attentive and timely. The food was amazing. The selections and pairings were impeccable. The Tournesol SB was perfect with our seafood selections. This place is a great slice of San Francisco. We could hang out here often. Waterbar is really a Water-STAR! (Be prepared to pay for all of this greatness! It's worth it.)5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDining on the San Francisco BayThis restaurant is just below the Oakland Bay Bridge. It is very scenic, especially at night when the bridge lights come on. Atmosphere is great as is the food and service!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA GemThat Waterbar has a fantastic view was undeniable and fully expected, but the quality and uniqueness of the seafood was equally memorable. It was a great experience which I hope to repeat again before this trip to SF ends!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
