Dining on the San Francisco BayThis restaurant is just below the Oakland Bay Bridge. It is very scenic, especially at night when the bridge lights come on. Atmosphere is great as is the food and service!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view of the bridge lightsWe went especially to see the lights on the Bay Bridge and were thrilled to be close, watch them come on and twinkle in the twilight then show us the full panoply. The restaurant was superb also. Unusual drinks, great seafood menu, tasty oysters, and delicious desserts. I would definitely return and plan to bring out of town guests here.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGotta GoIf you like waterside ambience and views while dining, you have to checkout Waterbar. On a sunny warm San Francisco afternoon you'd be hard stretched to find a better spot in the Bay Area. Oh, and the food is great. The oyster menu is off the hook; two full pages of oysters to choose from.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAll the right ingredientsI've been here a number of times and always have a great dining experience. It's not just that the food is fresh and expertly prepared, but the service is always good and the setting is fantastic. Everything you need for a great meal.
Try to get a table in the main room if you can - the smaller room can get extremeley loud and the decor isn't as special. (I was told that you can't reserve particular tables / rooms - it's first come first served, which is my only complaint about the restaurant - but make sure to ask anyway.)5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisiteFresh food, amazing service to detail!!! We were lucky to have a server from Vera Cruz Mexico who graciously wrote "happy Mother's Day " in Spanish on a plate for my belated celebration my mother was very happy. Thank you water bar your food is exquisite, you never disappoint me New Year's Eve was a delight, and I can't wait to come back!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's dayThis was the second time this month I have eaten at the restaurant and each visit is more exquisite than the last. Now I will always request a table close to Barbie - we had such a neat time watching her swim around. Food, wine and dessert was just excellent. You can enjoy the bay lights, watch the kitchen do its magic and enjoy fun music. This restaurant is always a treat.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWaterbar a wonderWith some of the finest views of the bay and some of the finest seafood anywhere it's a wonder, whether dining alone or with a group of no matter how many. Whether you're a single diner (as I was) or a regular the service is amazing and the food delicious beyond belief.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the scenic view..FoodI love the scenic view..Food was good too. I will be back here with my hubby only for a romantic dinner with a scenic view....5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMsurprisingly impressedI thought this would be a tourist trap with overly priced dishes instead It was a wonderful evening with excellent food and exceptional service.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything Was Perfect !!From the reservation, to the bar, to our bartender, to our window table, to our food server, to the wine manager, the wine, appetizers, main course (halibut), to the thoughtful chocolate bites and anniversary wishes. It was PERFECT. That is all I can say, It was PERFECT.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food, fantasticWonderful food, fantastic service. Pricey, but sometimes you do get what you pay for.
Evening view of the Bay Bridge was a big plus.
The only downside was the noise level, but the flip side is that the place was full of energy, people out having fun.
A pleasant walk from the Ferry Building and/or BART.
Did I mention that the service was fantastic?5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Server was Excellent...JONATHANWe had a great time...our friend visiting from Salinas, CA. was most pleased...5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Service, and View! This is a fantastic restaurant. The food is amazing, the service is top notch, and you can't beat the view of the Bay Bridge, especially with the light show. My last great dining experience was Napa a few months ago and this restaurant is definitely on par with those establishments. I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Also, the seafood, what Water Bar is really known for, is all fresh and very delicious. Portions are generous and presentation of the plates are outstanding. This place is pricey but you pay for what you get and it's worth every penny. If you have a special occasion with a significant other or if you are out of town visiting San Francisco, I strongly recommend you dine at Water Bar.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPriced AccordinglyWonderful location at the northwest foot of the Bay Bridge in SF with it's light project in full view. Our waiter was well informed about the menu and his recommendations were detailed and as promised except for one group of CA oysters that seemed a bit off or flat tasting.
The noise level was high and conversation was difficult at times. Still, an enjoyable evening spent with great service and attention to our needs.
Price was on the moderately high side as expected at about $130 per person with one glass of wine and tip.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to bring out ofGreat place to bring out of town guests - impressive scenic view especially with the Bay Bridge LED light show. The $1 oysters at lunch are a steal, the prawn cocktail is amazing and everything else I have eaten there has been delicious. The service is especially excellent and the view of the Bay an added delight. For a quieter meal, very much recommend the back room.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything You Could WantLovely experience, attentive front staff and servers. Ambiance. Noise level comfortable at busy lunch.
Inventive menu items.. Desserts appealed with basics which had a twist.
Highly recommend. Valet parking. On the Embarcadero with views.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThanksI was so appreciative that Waterbar provided a table so my aging parents and my sister could view the bridge and the Bay Lights. Beyond all of this, is location, location, location; in that this restaurant has a wonderful setting just under the Bay Bridge and as such, offers amazing views of both the bay and bridge. This is a hugely popular place for both locals and visitors, with the result that service can drag a bit, but the staff handles it with aplomb. I'd go back in a second.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough we only sat at theAlthough we only sat at the bar and had drinks, the bar staff was very friendly. The view is fantastic as is the atmosphere. Good food and service. Very expensive.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExtreme dissatisfactionWith a special family birthday and views of the Bay Bridge all lit up, we all looked forward to our evening. We specifically asked for a table facing the bridge as our birthday guest flew in from afar and this was his only special request. I even called the restaurant ahead of time and they said they would accommodate us. We were seated in the back room with a small view of the side of the bridge--in the mirror. Barely could see it. When I inquired, they said they ad no other space unless we wanted to wit 90 minutes. We got our water, menus, and ordered cocktails. 30 minutes passed before we saw them. Meanwhile 3 other tables were seted and revived wine or drinks. Our waiter was MIA. Finally he appeared with no apology.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe plates were lovely toThe plates were lovely to look at and very tasty. The price is a bit steep even for San Francisco but it is close to the water. We were a bit disappointed to find it was not on the water as we had been told by friends.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great as alwaysThe food was great as always and the wait staff was pleasant and courteous.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a Fabulous ExperienI loved the feel of this elegant restaurant. The view of the bay bridge is breath taking. The service couldn’t not have been better, the wait staff were attentive yet invisible. I ordered the Spring Pea soup and the Scallops. Both dishes were superb. The green pea soup has a crisp flavors, while the scallops had a sweet creamy and delightful taste. Both dishes were artfully put together, almost to pretty to eat. Love this restaurant, would recommend it to anyone.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I dined atMy husband and I dined at the Waterbar last week and loved the atmosphere (great bar area, very lively) and the food was wonderful. I highly recommend it for seafood. Make reservations early.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great place. TheyThis is a great place. They have an extensive oyster bar, even with happy hours $1 oysters. We did not partake of them though. The menu is not extensive but the food was delicious. I had a fish with a long name, with fava bean, etc. OUTSTANDING. My husband had another selection that was also wonderful. Spring onion soup and salads were also very good. Desserts too. The noise could be a little loud at times, but not bad where we were sitting. Best of all is the view of the Bay Bridge lights. We were there before sunset and watched the lights as they came on. fantastic view!!! There is also seating outside but it was too cold the night we were there. Waterbar is excellent. It is located next to the Cupid's bow on the waterfron4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. The servers are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They have good recommendations, always interested in what the diner wants, they dont just upsell their menu. Superb ambience for lunch and dinner.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI was deliciously surprisedI was deliciously surprised to find roast wild boar on the menu. It was magnificent!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated our birthdaysWe celebrated our birthdays here. The food was wonderful and the portions were generous enough that we should have skipped ordering the side dishes. The Giants had played a day game and the bar area was full of baseball fans. It was pretty noisy, but our table was far enough away from the bar that it wasn't too annoying. Still, we would have preferred a lower noise level.
The server was very knowledgable about the menu and patient with our questions and the food was excellent.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI took a guest from the eastI took a guest from the east coast here, and had called to request a table with a view. We had a terrific window side table! Our server was great, the food was very good but over salted. I told my husband we have to go there.
My guest had never had oysters, so our server specially selected a "starter's plate" of them - the breath of the ocean!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
