It's not just that the food is fresh and expertly prepared, but the service is always good and the setting is fantastic. Everything you need for a great meal.
Try to get a table in the main room if you can - the smaller room can get extremeley loud and the decor isn't as special. (I was told that you can't reserve particular tables / rooms - it's first come first served, which is my only complaint about the restaurant - but make sure to ask anyway.)5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisiteFresh food, amazing service to detail!!! Now I will always request a table close to Barbie - we had such a neat time watching her swim around. Food, wine and dessert was just excellent. Evening view of the Bay Bridge was a big plus.
The only downside was the noise level, but the flip side is that the place was full of energy, people out having fun.

The food is amazing, the service is top notch, and you can't beat the view of the Bay Bridge, especially with the light show. My last great dining experience was Napa a few months ago and this restaurant is definitely on par with those establishments. I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Also, the seafood, what Water Bar is really known for, is all fresh and very delicious. Portions are generous and presentation of the plates are outstanding. This place is pricey but you pay for what you get and it's worth every penny. Our waiter was well informed about the menu and his recommendations were detailed and as promised except for one group of CA oysters that seemed a bit off or flat tasting.
The noise level was high and conversation was difficult at times. Still, an enjoyable evening spent with great service and attention to our needs.

We specifically asked for a table facing the bridge as our birthday guest flew in from afar and this was his only special request. When I inquired, they said they ad no other space unless we wanted to wit 90 minutes. We got our water, menus, and ordered cocktails. 30 minutes passed before we saw them. Meanwhile 3 other tables were seted and revived wine or drinks. Our waiter was MIA. The view of the bay bridge is breath taking. The service couldn’t not have been better, the wait staff were attentive yet invisible. I ordered the Spring Pea soup and the Scallops. Both dishes were superb. The green pea soup has a crisp flavors, while the scallops had a sweet creamy and delightful taste. Both dishes were artfully put together, almost to pretty to eat. We did not partake of them though. The menu is not extensive but the food was delicious. I had a fish with a long name, with fava bean, etc. OUTSTANDING. My husband had another selection that was also wonderful. Spring onion soup and salads were also very good. Desserts too. The noise could be a little loud at times, but not bad where we were sitting. Best of all is the view of the Bay Bridge lights. We were there before sunset and watched the lights as they came on. fantastic view!!! The food was wonderful and the portions were generous enough that we should have skipped ordering the side dishes. The Giants had played a day game and the bar area was full of baseball fans. It was pretty noisy, but our table was far enough away from the bar that it wasn't too annoying. Still, we would have preferred a lower noise level.
