  • "The restaurant located on Ocean and Santa Monica, so we could see the see from sitting in the restaurant. We ordered the deluxe seafood platter, and it was amazing. Super fresh and totally worth the money. We also ordered lobster roll and sea bass, both are very delicious. One thing to notice is that this is a hot spot, it's better to make a reservation couple days before dining. Definitely recommend this place."

  • "I went with my girlfriend here for a regular night out dinner. The pros: Very knowlegeable/friendly waiter (he made our night), accomodated a special request for table, good food Cons: Noisy by bar, felt rushed to eat bc of busboys trying to take food 3 different times while I was still eating, food overpriced by about $10 dollars, got more bang for my buck at Del Friscos. This place was overall pretty good. Id take an out of towner here to impress them or my girlfriend for a special occasion. However, it is not very affordable for a regular night out dinner. Id give it a higher mark if I didn't feel rushed to eat by bus boys continously coming over to clear my plate (over-attentive can be a bad thing)."

  • "Food server was a delight. Very helpful. Downside...they don't feature Dewar's ...my most of the time beverage...but their well scotch was fine. My date had her new found love...Tito's vodka...which they carry. The seafood is excellent but somewhat pricy. Good quality always is. The place was packed at 8: pm on a Thursday night. Thankful I had made reservation the day before."

Made a last minute reservation and was still given one of the best seats in the house! Our server, Lindsay (wrong spelling, I'm sure) was absolutely wonderful~ so polite and helpful!   • "We visited Santa Monica for the first time and met friends for dinner. The place is large and a bit noisy. Our waitress spent about 15 minutes explaining the extensive menu. Our food came out in a timely manner and for the most part was very good. It's a bit on the expensive side for what you get, but it's nice and fresh. I think it's great for groups but not for a quiet romantic dinner."

  • "Starting with our delightful, knowledgable and prompt server, chilled wine and a spectacular crab cake, our meal was enhanced by the warm temperatures (at least compared to home,) and the off shore breeze. The open air design is one of the features that make this restaurant so appealing. Our server with a delightful Midwestern twang was a breath of fresh air without being overbearing. The freshness of the seafood was as advertised but prepared in creative cuisine making the extra dollars worth every penny."

  • "Food was was ridiculously overpriced for the tiny serving they give. Ordered oysters served with overly sweet cocktail sauce. Octopus was rubbery and had pungent fish smell. Ordered salad nicoise that came with no lettuce but on a bed of beans??? Lastly main dinner of shrimp and grits was so small was like a child's portion with only 5 small shrimp that had heads still on!!!! So very disappointed in the amount of money paid and left dissatisfied."

  • "Water Grill has branched out to the Westside. Whereas the Downtown location is dark and somewhat more formal atmosphere, the Westside is all about a comfortable pub likescene. The renovation of the old Ocean Avenue Seafood is remarkable with tanks of live shellfish in the back and the fresh catch on ice. The open view of the kitchen also lends a more casual feel. Quality of seafood is fantasic. Selection excellent. Our fish entres of whole sea breem, chilean seabass and Alaskan halibut. Everything was delicious. Wine list has something for everyone. Service was excellent and our waitress was knowledgeable and very helpful in our selections. Previously I have had fish and chips and lobster sandwich "Connecticut" style, both delicious!"

  • "I took my family here for dinner on the last night of their visit. There were six of us and we went all-out, ordering appetizers, drinks, entrees and dessert. Every single thing was delicious. I've never had crab cakes as good and the Chilean sea bass was melt in your mouth yummy. And definitely try the caramel bread pudding for dessert if you have room! The best I've ever had. This is a top notch restaurant that I will be going back to again and again. Not to mention you can't beat the view of the beach and the ocean!"

  • "Our 4th visit. One of the fish specials ($42) was sent back because they'd burned the butter. The waiter brought a menu to select another entree but it took so long and since everyone else had their food already, she got a fast bowl of chowder instead-- Not a great way to all "dine together". And the restaurant made no special accommodation, just an apology. A dessert would have been the classy thing to do. (Same goes for my last visit when the waiter dropped my lobster roll in my lap. No accommodation.) We'll think twice before we select a restaurant in this price range for a special occasion. Instead, we'll just order the blue Cheese Wedge Salad (excellent) and the Chowder, otherwise I'm not spending $250 for 4 people to dine."

  • "My husband and I very much enjoyed our lunch date, with a great view and wine...the bread is also amazing. Otherwise, we were pretty unimpressed with the food. We had the crab cake appetizer, scallops and tuna salad...two drinks each, the total was over $150. T For that total, for lunch, we won't be going back for a meal anytime soon."

  • "went to water grill with my wife on a thursday night, we were in town for business/pleasure and had heard good things.. the place was hopping - very noisy, but, a fun noise. we ate in the bar area in a table by the window - great view of the sunset. the service was great, very friendly and the food was outstanding. the dessert was "ok", not worth the calories, but, the halibut was amazing. will definitely go back when we are in town again"

  • "Although the WG is a seafood restaurant specializing in fresh fish that is owned by a company with a great fish pedigree, the WE continues to underperform especially in light of the high prices and modest portions. My Black Cod was complete mush and to their credit they graciously replaced it with Chilean Seabass. It too disappoints as it is covered in olive oil which is not necessary for this buttery fish. And the meager vegetables that accompany the main courses are generally weird especially when paired with the main entrée. Also, these vegetables feel and taste as if they are freshly prepared but rather they seem to be straight out of the warming tray or worse yet, just reheated. The best part of the meal continues to be the bread."

  • "Great ambiance for the deaf. Couldn't eat fast enough just to get out of the place for the sake of my ears and my voice. I can't understand how this same space as Ocean Avenue Seafood was quieter and more conducive to communication with the person sitting next to you than this airport hanger atmosphere. Our meal? It was OK but 3 scallops for $33; come on. Maybe I'm getting old and cranky but this was a major disappointment for us."

  • "We sat on the street side which is open/windowless. The service was great and very attentive. The food was 3 stars. Appetizer we had steamed clams which were good, although a bit small in size and perhaps overwhelmed by the broth they were in; the grilled octopus which was smothered in a red tomato sauce (why?) and a lettuce wedge salad that was quite large, but the dressing tasted common and like it came from a diner package, not a true hardy blue cheese dressing. For dinner I had king crab legs and my husband had a fish special. The main entrees were solid and good. Also the cocktails were good and they were very accommodating in making. Overall a very enjoyable evening and meal and would definitely go back, but for lunch this time!"

  • "We were seated at a booth in a corner with a broken light, hence we were dining in the dark during our entire meal. Our server said the electrical part of the light needed repair. To say the least, it was a little romantic except that we were three in our party! All entrees ordered were delicious and fresh. Our server was attentive and happy to check on us often. The interior of this restaurant is relaxing and comfortable. I would return again and recommend it to friends."
