Diner Reviews
  • "Food was excellent. Lovely view, and our table was right by the window. Service was also excellent. Can't wait to return."

  • "Decent place a little noisy. Strange thing : they would not do my steak black and blue akapittsburgh. Rare inside charred outside. I've worked in,owned and eaten in restaurants for 40+years and never heard that before Waiter was apologetic and said he would do his best(steak was just slightly overdone with a good not great crust)found it odd in a place that features steak"

  • "I have reviewed W&W many times and the restaurant remains outstanding on each visit."

  • "Overall food was good and service was efficient. Pappardelle with short ribs was overly salty but otherwise all the other dishes were good. Strangely, the wait staff never suggested coffee or espresso service with the dessert menu."

  • "Excellent in every respect. Sorry we didn't discover sooner. The 'special' manhattan is a treat not to be missed."

  • "We were amazed at the food! everything we had was extrodinary with enourmous portions. We had the pre-fix thinking that , of course, the portions would be smaller. No way!!! Everything was extremely generous."

  • "Service was top notch. The food was delicious. It's hard to hit the bark with all seafood dishes, but they did. However, at the request of my dining partner I must state that the bread, according to him, was sub par."

  • "Well I didnt know that water and wine had a valet service because I didnt bring any cash with me. Its a little pricey but there was an option for a 3 prix fixe I believe it was called for $39. It included apps, entree and dessert. Overall food was excellent!!!"

  • "Very good food with extremely generous portions. Service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly, courteous and could not do enough to please."

  • "Everything about the place was great. Not our first time. We have introduced family and friends to the restaurant. Food was delicious!! We leave satisfied everytime. I highly recommend this restaurant. It's one of my Husbands favorites."

  • "Went there on a date and was impressed with the location. Very scenic and serene. Wonderful wine list, attentive wait staff, and delicious food. The crab cakes were some of the best I've eaten. I ordered diver scallops and risotto with vegetables. My date had steak. Of course we sampled each other's plate. He liked my risotto so much our waiter brought him some. Everything was so well seasoned with appealing presentation. My date and I split some wonderfully creamy flavorful strawberry cheesecake and cappuccino. A most delightful experience. A place I will definitely return to dine again."

  • "The food was well prepared, delicious. There is a largemenu. The fixed price three course dinner is $39, a good value .We three picked seafood. My two soft shell cabs were done just right. The ambiance is special. Wide picture windows look out over a lake. Tables are set well apart. Tables not at the windows still have pleasant views. Service was prompt. The waiter knew his menu. The room is carpeted and there are ceiling tiles so the rooms are fairly quiet. We plan to come back and to recommend to other friends."

  • "Restaurant is in great need of dusting and cleaning.....plastic flower arrangements are very old and sad-looking Service is great but food is not. Greatly overrated ......."

  • "I had a birthday lunch at Water & Wine and there is no other place I know of to have such a delicious, but a low-key celebratory lunch. A glass of wine, a salmon speciality, and the house dessert. We sat and talked and talked, looked at the beautiful view and savored our meal. Perfect afternoon."

  • "After reviewing restaurants in NYC for several years, I moved to the NJ suburbs when we started our family. After being spoiled by some of Manhattan's best restaurants, I confess I am not always easy to please. Our evening at Water and Wine however, rivaled my most coveted dining experiences. My husband and I began the night with a drink at the bar. The signature cocktails were outstanding (Try the white peach martini) and the bartenders were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The servers were likewise outstanding and the food was exceptional. My halibut (a special) truly melted in my mouth and my husband is still talking about the Pappardelle. The romantic ambiance and lake views complete a picture perfect evening."

  • "The cold antipasto was large but not with good meat. The shoestring potatoes were terrible. Steaks were good but the choices of potatoes were not good."

  • "You won't find many written reviews for Water and Wine but people know about it from word of mouth. The food, service and ambiance are excellent. The water part of the name refers to the great view and the wine list is huge but you can still find several reasonably-priced bottles. The menu is varied--everything we ordered at our table was delicious and beautifully presented. The servers go out of their way to accommodate you. This is definitely a great choice!"

  • "After selecting a good wine, the wife and I decided to select items from the prix fixe menu. They had a very good selection. My wife had the salmon and sautéed spinach while I had the pork chops with hot peppers. Both were prepared well and presentation was very nice. The tuna tartare appetizer was excellent as well."

  • "Always a wonderful dining experience. Service is thoughtful and food is consistently very well prepared. Everything on the menu is an excellent choice and the wine selection is vast. With the argon gas system used at Water and Wine, trying higher end wines by the glass or quartino is now an option."

  • "This was our first visit to Water and Wine. The couple that accompanied us has been there numerous times before and has always loved it. We were seated at a table overlooking the lake. Eve1n on a cloudy nightl, it was serene and beautiful. Our server, Rita, was extremely attentive and personable. The food was to die for. The salads were the best. I had the mesculin greens with cranberries and goat cheese. My husband had the endive salad with gorganzola and candied walnuts. Both so delicious, as was the warm mozzarella with marinara sauce. The entrees that we ordered were diver scallops w/couscous, Norwegian salmon (2), and pappardelle pasta with short ribs. Everything was perfectly prepared and so flavorful. "

  • "Water and Wine is always a great night out! James is always personable and welcoming my guests and I every time we come! Chris the bartender is always great at picking a wine or just a nice drink. Diego was very attentive waiting my table. No complaints what so ever. Porter house steak was cooked perfectly and creamed spinach was to die for! Cheesecake was just delicious as well. Great food, service and all around a wonderful restaurant to try. One try and you keep coming back. "

  • "I will start off positive. This is a beautiful, upscale restaurant with a lovely view. Food was good, as was the service, but neither warranted the prices. The crab cake appetizer was scrumptious, but the oysters average. The seared tuna was grayish on the outside. (Obviously the grill/broiler was not hot enough for a dark sear while keeping it rare on the inside.) All the food flavors were average. Nothing hit you as being impressive. Also, they charged $9.50 for a Seagrams neat, and $3.50 for a 6 oz. bottle of soda on the side!!! Our bill for four people was $335. I love fine dining, but all things considered, it was a bit pricey for this foodie."

  • "The food was good but a bit pricey. Not very accommodating to dietary issues. Had to call the waiter back to ask for drinks. Staff was a bit confused."

  • "A great dinner started with the endive salad, crispy, with the right amount of gorganzola and walnuts. The cod special was light and pan seared to perfection sitting on top of a bed of seasoned farro. Zuppe de pesce prepared fra diavolo was a great choice. The zuppa, with tangy fresh tomato base, bits of herbs, onion and garlic, made it difficult to resist the urge to dip the bread into it. We shared a quartino of Caymus cabernet. Water and Wine now have the argon gas system so that great wines can be ordered by the glass. Dessert choices are many but we always go to our favorite, the fricassee. A medley of sorbets in a tuile basket accompanied by fresh berries. The service is always wonderfully attentive."

  • "we've driven by numerous times, finally managed to go cons - interior a bit dated. Staff slightly pushy to clear plates, but not horribly so ( this was for a reservation at 7:45, they weren't hurting for tables pro's - all the food was excellent, good but affordable wine list. Massive portions. Good view of the lake, if you have a window seat. We'll be back again, now that we know not to order the extra appetizers or sides. We both ordered steaks - good tender cuts, cooked perfectly. "

  • "Service and dessert were outstanding. I asked for a taste of the wine I was thinking of ordering, and our waiter brought 2 to try, which was very nice. Service was pleasant & attentive from arrival to departure. Sadly, entrees were poorly executed -- fish overcooked and overwhelmed by a heavy potato crust; short ribs drowning in too-sweet barbecue sauce. Interior ambiance was a bit dated, though the music was really nice & just the right volume (not too loud). Lighting was unnecessarily bright during most of our meal, dimming the lights could have made a big difference in the atmosphere."

  • "This spot is reliably great. The food is gourmet level and the service to match. The view of the lake is also wonderful."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary, and the staff couldn't have been more attentive (without being intrusive). After dessert, we were each given a glass of champagne, and a candle in the creme brûlée. But all the food was special, and wonderfully prepared and presented. From appetizer (mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat, shrimp and artichoke ravioli), to entree (red snapper and salmon), to dessert (the above-mentioned creme brûlée and cheesecake). The setting was lovely, with a great view of the lake and the vista beyond. We plan to return."

  • "had a lovely time, seated next to window... great Easter dinner "

  • "The food was delicious, however our server was not!! He awkwardly interrupted our conversation way too early (very soon after we received our drinks) to tell us the specials (which was a long list) while looking out the window instead of us! The service did not match the good food! He was not a professional server (but he thought he was plus slightly arrogant) and did not match the restaurant ambiance or quality of the food."

  • "I love the atmosphere of the restaurant, slightly reserved but the staff is friendly, not stuffy. The food is fantastic and the service remarkable! I had the salmon which was served with couscous, mushrooms and a sauce that captured my palate beyond words. What is nice is the selection of breads accompanied with butter, dipping, oil and a nice selection of olives - not just bread and butter."

  • "I love Water and Wine but their bar leaves much to be desired. First of all, very small. I have to wait a very long time to get to the bar and I was there at 5:00 with two parties hogging it. Then once I got up the bartenders were so busy socializing that I was not asked if I wanted anything until I asked them. Please go but go and get seated for a great experience, ignore the bar."
