A word from Washington Park Grille
The Zagat Survey says, "There's much to like about this Washington Park Italian-New American: "good food", a "great patio" & "cheerful" service & ambiance."
Upscale thirty-something’s & the college crowd mingle at this popular neighborhood restaurant & gathering place east of Wash Park.
A covered strip on the south side of the building makes for convivial outdoor seating (you just might see a neighbor), and Sunday brunch offers an all you can eat Buffet (juice, soda, coffee and tea are included). A beautiful lounge is off to the side. 11 beers are on tap, 15 in bottles and an excellent wine list at the elegant U-shaped bar.
Dinners are mid-priced, with a nice selection of grilled seafood & steaks & several fancy pasta dishes. The lunch offering is paninis, grilled sandwiches, salads & pasta.

Diner Reviews
  • "This is the second time I have eaten here when visiting Denver. This time I brought my husband, and we will definitely return again. The menu is fresh and interesting, and the service was great. We especially enjoyed the Caesar Salad - with a unique blend of greens, and fried garbanzo beans! The buffalo burger was fantastic; the pasta entrees (lasagna and meatballs) were spicy and delicious. I can't think of anything negative - except that we live so far away! "

  • "I'm generally not a big fan of Wash Park Grill, but this was my first time for lunch, and I was much more pleased than I have been with my dinner experiences. The noise level was comfortable and I enjoyed my salad."

  • "This was our second time dining here and we will definitely be back. The food is delicious!"

  • "Although the service was good, the food was average at best. We were expecting better. Sea Bass was overcooked as was the chicken picatta."

  • "There were 4 in our party, and each of us ordered something different: one had the lobster Mac 7 Cheese, one the Wasabi Green Pea Roasted Tuna, one had the beef tenderloin, & I had the Fresh & Naked Aglio E Olio. All were delicious. Our server was excellent - knowledgeable about the food, helpful, and very witty. We had a great time & will go back there when next in Denver."

  • "We have been going to Wash Park Grille for years. The new menu is pretty good. It was very busy there and we enjoyed ourselves."

  • "Let's see: When the five of us sat down three of us had chairs that wobbled as did the table. It seems they were aware of it as they had rubber wedges they gave us to fix their issue. My wife's filet was terrible so they were kind enough to remove it from the bill. I won't go into it any further, but rather I will summarize with: They have a nice bar and the live music coming from the other side of the restaurant was good, but when we got up to leave decided it was too loud to stay and listen to given the seats available. My recommendation is go to have a drink, listen to the music, but if you are going to spend that much for a meal I would recommend eating somewhere else."

  • "I love Wash Park Grille-a neighborhood gem. Food is always delicious, service great and it's a place where you can hear what your friends are saying and actually carry on a conversation!!! Always would recommend it."

  • "I met an out of town client for a drink - he travels alot so has visited lots of restaurants around the country, and one of the first things he said about the Grille was that he really liked it - the vibe of the place and the music - and the staff was friendly, open, and attentive."

  • "We had a bad experience. It took approximately 10 minutes after we were seated before a server introduced herself and asked if we wanted drinks. By that time, we could have ordered our whole meal, but she scooted away before we had a chance to order an app. Also, my pregnant wife asked if the bar could make a "mocktail", and the waitress acted as though we were speaking in a foreign language. Mussels were average at best. The server took our main course order while the app was served. Main courses were fine. After being there for 1.5 hours, we didn't even look at the dessert menu. I have more specific complaints, but I'm running out of characters. Will not return to this restaurant. Vibe was noisy but not in a cool way."

  • "We were set next to the door going into the patio, it was windy, other than that the brunch was great, our waitress did forget to bring our omelet but we had plenty of other food."
    Dined on 3/30/2014
  • "My favorite part of this restaurant was the gluten free choices. I had the buffallo burger on a GF bun (2$ extra) and it had a nice char-grilled flavor. Average restaurant in a nice location."

  • "The Sunday brunch buffet is excellent!! The bottomless mimosas is a MUST."

  • "I dined at the Wash Park Grille on Saturday night and it was superb. The Wash Park Grille always delivers the best in fine dining with excellent food, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend the Wash Park Grille and it truelly is a South Denver neighborhood gem."

  • "The restaurant was very busy at 12:30 when we sat down. It took quite a while before we saw our waiter. Slow service, but the food was fantastic!"

  • "I've gone to WPG many times over the years. The bar and lounge atmosphere was great. Service was good too. However, the food was disappointing for the price paid. Had the buffalo burger and the corn cowder."
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "Horrible service - After a 10 minute wait, I had to find anyone to provide us service. Our server (Sami) apologized, but the quality of service never improved. I think she felt she was doing us a favor. It may be a while before we go back to Wash Park Grille."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "I dined on the chicken piccata which is baked and not swimming in butter as other restaurants haved served it in the past. The chicken was alittle on the dry side but was good. Hubby had a pizza and it was fantastic! Dessert was bread pudding and although it was alittle slow at getting to the table, it was well worth the wait!"

  • "Third dinner in three months. First time - great service and truly impressive food. Second - fair service, but very uneven on the food. Couple of very good appetizers, but execution on fish specials dubious at best. Third visit last night -- food mediocre, and service inattentive. "Forgot" a "no onions" request on a salad; water glasses consistently empty; felt like we were phantom guests whenever server near our table and we tried to get his attention. If steady execution, WPG would be a neighborhood gem. But we're done."

  • "The buffalo prime rib was over cooked. The server didn't ask if the kids meals should be brought out right away, although in fairness we forgot to ask. The server appeared to have too many tables."

  • "If you don't mind paying $20 for six ravioli you could have purchased at Costco, this is the place for you! We were underwhelmed to say the least. We won't be returning."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "Food was very delicious. Too many foods have lots of spice to them-what about those of us who can't take the heat. The menu was very limited when it came to meatless dishes-especially for a Friday in Lent."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "Always crowded, always a little loud, but always excellent food and service"

  • "This was my first tine at Washington Park Grill and I will go back. We had great service and the food was chef prepared. The soup of the day-artichoke shrimp bisque-was to die for."

  • "As always the Wash Park grill was great. A nice wine selection and a menu that fills any desire. Fantastic service and a warm atmosphere."
    Dined on 2/27/2014
  • "It took our waitress about 15 minutes to come to our table (and we were her only table at the time), she was very unfriendly, she had to go "ask" what the happy hour specials were. She only checked on us once. The place wasn't even busy, we were one of her two tables (the other couple in her section ended up leaving because of her lack of service). We complained to the manager who didn't care either. We won't be back."
    Dined on 3/17/2014
  • "Waiter said they were getting a new menu....hope so! Parmesan Chicken Panino sandwich with cheese/pesto sauce, etc. Expecting a nice breast of chicken, it was finger-shaped chicken fingers lined up on the bread. The "steak sandwich" was to be like a philly...did not have very much sliced tenderloin; more like a sauce with some chunks of meat on the bread that you certainly could not have picked up and eaten. On the plus side: Service was great. Desserts were fun."

  • "This is my go to restaurant for GREAT food, service and ambiance!"

  • "We only wished we lived in the neighborhood, because this is literally THAT place you go to when you're at a loss about dinner plans. Their gluten-free options are numerous and yummy, their daily specials are creative and delicious and their staff is fantastic. We go here regularly, but not as often as we would like, and always have a wonderful experience."

  • "We had such a nice dinner! We were seated away from the main dining area so it was quieter. Service is very good, the menu choices were outstanding and our food was all we could hope for. The bread and oil is fabulous!!! Do make a reservation for dinner as it seems to always be busy. We hope to return in the future."

  • "Clams and sausage pasta, all of the clams were cooked till they tasted like shoe leather. I should also mention you only get 5 clams and 4 slices of sausage for $19. Dish was salty and lacked any complex levels of flavor. Took 25 minutes and 2 servers to get 1 scoop of ice cream we ordered for my son. Considering the parking issues and other options available we won't be back."

  • "The food was excellent, as usual. I ordered a martini on the rocks and It was very watery. I didn't say anything and I should have but our server Was extremely busy and I didn't want to bother her. I love children, but the couple next to us had a little girl who kept Running back and forth and screaming at times. We've been coming to Wash for years and overall it is one of our favorite go to restaurants."

  • "My girlfriend and I decided to go there one night before she left town. It was the perfect spot to talk about the day, grab a drink, and have a decent selection of menu options to choose from. The server was new, but was very honest and energetic and had good energy. Overall for two good drinks (wine and an old fashioned x2), two entrees, and desert I thought $85 bucks was pretty fair. Give it a shot, well worth it!"

  • "Thoroughly enjoy the restaurant - excellent food and service. Before dinner we sat at the bar. The bar staff is friendly but more appropriate for Chili's than such a nice restaurant. They are nice people but low end bar staff."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "It was a snowy day, but the service was prompt and pleasant. The lamb salad was delicious, and the meat was cooked exactly as requested (that doesn't happen at many restaurants!)."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "A Smell of Sewage or? in the narrow front porch area. Hostess sat us at a table crammed in a doorway. When the table across from us was served, we dodged the tush of a server! Not nice! The Hostess reluctantly moved us. Once we made it clear that we wanted to take our time and enjoy our meal and not have plates come out on top of one another, it was more enjoyable! Turning the tables seemed to be the focus. Education on how to handle a wine bottle and not fondling the cork would be a huge plus, especially if it is needed for re corking? The Salmon was a disappointment, the beef tenderloin was fine, (never was it asked how one liked their beef cooked?) The Brussels were Great. Plates did not resemble the beautiful display on the website."
