  • "Very impressed with cocktails and food. Definitely going back!"

  • "The food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The service left us a little "bored". Just nothing special. Was seated in a spot that had no visual of the band and couldn't hear the band at all. But the food will make us come back!"

  • "My first visit to the WAG will most likely be my last. We chose WAG from menu and pictures on line. When we got there I found the tables to be extremely close together, we were seated in what looked like some kind of add-on patio that had been hastily enclosed offered little in the way of ambiance. We had the seafood trio appetizer ,it was was excellent. My halibut was very salty, the culprit to the saltiness was the canned artichokes (I guess some one forgot to rinse when the opened the can?). My husband ordered the lamb shank, nice meat but absolutely smothered in the sauce. Excluding the appie, I could have cooked these dishes better at home. On the upside, our waitress was lovely and attentive."

  • "I think this restaurant has been here a long time. We dined in what was an outdoor deck, now enclosed. Our table was my least favourite in the centre of the room, made cozy with two new large planters either side to give us a sense of privacy. We both had the halibut dish which was worth traveling all the way from the North Shore. he fish was done to a turn, sauced expertly with shrimp garnish and coupled with crunchy green beans and plain white rice. We started with the mesclun wild greens with slivered pears and blue cheese. Attentive service but not hovering. Altogether an excellent evening. Sorry, we drink water and neither of us have a sweet tooth."

  • "Food and service excellent. I know this is a very old building and historic but I do believe it is time for a makeover. Keep the character but redo and repair. The stairway in particular."

  • "This is my very favourite restaurant. I have never once had a problem with the food or service, everything is always perfect!"

  • "This was our first time dining here. The staff were very friendly and the view was outstanding but the food was overpriced. I am more than happy to pay $20 for a good entree but the quality was just not there."

  • "Food was a little more than other places on the beach and not nearly as good. Average at best. Edible."

  • "As a vegetarian, the menu did not have too many options however upon request, the kitchen was able to to turn the flat bread into a delicious vege delight. It was perfect and the envy of my companion and many other guests. A big thanks to the kitchen for accommodating my dietary needs and presenting a very delicious meal."

  • "Food was ok. Service was very good, very helpful server. The actual menu was old and tatty needs to be replaced. The menu REALLY needs updating. Same old same old."

  • "This restaurant has a nice ambience, went specifically for the entertainment Brandon Issak. He was awesome. You need to seat yourself near the back of the restaurant to hear if there is entertainment. We loved it. The waitress was fabulous and the staff friendly. We had the spring rolls, which though the waitress said were now made in house and were great, we preferred them last year when we went. I would not order those again. The bocconcini salad we had, had older tomatoes with no flavour, the spice was dried and not fresh as I would expect and the bocconcini had the strangest mushy flavour. The short ribs were good, mashed potatoes great, green beans undercooked. The steelhead was good. Complimentary bread was incredibly light, good."

  • "As usual the WAG was pretty great. We had booked a reservation and asked for a front table but we weren't seated at one. Then the hostess came back and told us she had just noted our special request and moved us right away! Nice! The food was yummy for 3 of the 4. I tried the pork loin.. it was delicious BUT there was alot of fat on it so that was a disappointment. But that was the only down side. The wonton shrimp were so yummy.. we all agreed we are ordering them the next time! All in all.. you can't make a mistake reserving a table at this gem on the beach!"

  • "We were put in the back room under the ovens , oops heaters, people kept bumping my chair as they moved about . My food was mediocre at best ( stuffed Chicken or i thing it was ) the lady had a seafood Hot pot and she claims it was great. My portion was okay a little small but nothing special. The service was okay but the numbers she had to serve was beyond her capacity. She did okay with what she was dealing with.. We both have physical impairment so getting to your restaurant was a challenge , Not to mention no handicapped parking !!!! Your restaurant was recommended to us and unfortunately I can't do the same."

  • "I was surprised that by booking on line 4 days in advance that we would be given one of the smallest tables for 4 people in the farthest corner of the restaurant, not to happy as we go to this restaurant at least once a month...."

  • "I suggested going to WAG to a small group of my friends for a girls night out. Really hopping it was everything I remembered from the last time. Sure enough, the evening was a hit. The sun was setting, when we were sitting by the window view by the ocean. My sangria I ordered was so refreshing, and just what I needed. We had good service, and never felt rushed. Then the live band started up and the night just got better. Appies, dinner & of course dessert too.......amazing. When getting the bill it was made simple splitting it up between us. Thx Washington Ave Grill Will be back again very soon!! L"

  • "We loved the relaxed feeling and cozy surroundings. Everyone was friendly and the menu was diverse, suiting everyone's tastes. I had the curry and kahula prawns and loved them, and my friend had the salmon Panini and was very pleased with it. She had the yam fries and the dip with the fries was to die for!!! Fabulous and very enjoyable!"

  • "Went here thinking the food was great and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Must have been some time ago, because it is now essentially a bar that serves food. The restaurant is essentially a bar with bar lighting, bar decor and small stage with an electric guitar, an amp and a poor soul wrangling out bad covers (like Garth Brooks "Friends in Low Places"). Thankfully we were seated at the very back. Until a large party from the patio came in and threw all their coats and stuff on the tables and chairs around us, and kept asking us for a smoke (we don't). Pretty much ruined it for us. Don't order the Short Rib Poutine or the Lamb, unless you like thick hoisin sauce. Creme brulee was from a package mix - no creamy baked texture. Pass."

  • "Good food combined with good portion size. Prices are inline with a restaurant of this type. Would recommend to anyone. Live music on the weekends that is audible but not over powering. Great for summertime as afterwards you can go for a walk along the White Rock boardwalk."

  • "This place was great. My wife and I enjoyed our great view of the ocean while eating a great meal. It was Valentines Day so it was pretty busy and food was coming out of the kitchen pretty quickly. Felt a little rushed but we expected that been the day that it was. I was amazed with the service and drinks. They always checked on us and made sure things where to our liking. I would go there again perhaps for my birthday."

  • "We enjoyed the food and our server was very nice, attentive and fun. The music ( the female singer) on the other hand was too loud and not soothing/light. Other than that, the place was packed, very warm and inviting and we had a nice evening over all. Thank you!"

  • "The Wag never disappoints. I have been here many many times and it is consistently great. The food and service is always 5 star. I have never once had bad service, and only one time did I have an issue with my food, and it was fixed without hesitation to my satisfaction. I will definitely continue to go there."

  • "Although the restaurant was very busy, we had a lovely evening. We had a nice table by the window and the food was very good, as always. Service was a little lacking but not enough to spoil the evening. We will return again."

  • "As regular customers here, we are used to the excellent menu and unusual wine choices, and generally find the food excellent, the service outstanding, and the ambiance eclectic and inviting. On this particular night, treating good friends to a special dinner, my wife and I ordered a favourite, the rib steak. Normally a very good choice, these two pieces of meat were so tough as to be difficult to cut. Within a bite or two our server came by to ask how things were, she apologized for the tough meat, took a second order, and had it back in front of us, a different dish, the mixed grill, before our companions had finished their plates. All the staff remained upbeat, positive, apologetic - they were a total delight."

  • "My husband ordered lamb, four extremely small, thin tasty pieces of lamb for 29.99? Gordon Ramsay would have not been impressed. I ordered seafood pasta, nothing special, we could have made taster at home. The pasta was very salty and bland."

  • "Went here for my birthday last year, and my husband made sure to make note to reserve their infamous chocolate peanut butter pie for our dessert when making reservations. They didn't see the notation, and apologized profusely - and gave us a generous gift certificate to return. They also offered a complimentary dessert in lieu of the pie. Had such a great time last year, I thought to return for my husband's birthday and when we ordered our meal, we also advised the server to reserve a slice of the pie for our dessert. Our meals came out perfect, hot and flavorful. We had our rambunctious 2-year old with us, and the server was really great with him and made the rest of the evening more enjoyable knowing that we weren't a nuisance."

  • "My husband and I often dine at The Washington Avenue Grill. We really enjoy the food there and the ambience is nice. We enjoyed a delicious meal on Feb 10 (Family Day) and we had the added bonus of enjoying the "Dine Out" menu. This offered excellent value for money and we were so full after the meal. Excellent food, great service and an enjoyable atmosphere."

  • "We have had the pleasure of intimate, private dinners and Family Events of 20. We keep coming back for all those RIGHT reasons. Leanne is our favorite waitress and we always ask for her when possible. Her substitute is equally helpful, professional and courteous."

  • "My regular haunt when in the White Rock area - best on the whole strip. It can get a bit noisy - but that's because they are always busy. Patio a must on hot days."
