WasanSmall Gem on East Side...Packed into a small space are three things that make Wasan great: good food, great drinks and fantastic service. We ate from the prix fixe menu which was 5 courses that you can select from, each with its own character, but totally complementary. The food was fresh and came out as if on queue, not too quick and not too slow. My glass was always full (and if you like sake, this is the place to go) and there was always a server in the wings if you needed something. There is a small bar with about 6 chairs and I noticed folks were able to eat there so if you are flying solo this is a great choice. Make a reservation if you are with a group. A la carte also very good. Inventive chef but never playing fancy games. I'm not really a wagyu beef fan but theirs is well worth trying, hot stone cooking. Fish fresh of course, classic sashimi and two or three cooked fish dishes which are changed seasonally. Good sake list. Delightful staff, very good atmosphere and tables not crowded together. This place makes delicious fresh and authentic treats. The fit out is charming and the atmosphere is calm and warm. There seemed to be a few first dates the night we went.
