  • "Went for their DineLA lunch menu. Staff was friendly and waiter was very good. However, we waited 20+ minutes for our appetizers, and then another 40 minutes for sandwiches and fries. Even the waiter felt bad we waited for so long. Didn't get out until almost 2 hours later for a simple lunch. While burrata crostini and sangria were great, the sandwiches were mediocre - crab was okay, but short ribs were extremely salty. Again, service was great, but the long wait turned it into a negative experience."

  • "First time dined at Warren's Blackboard with friends. We ordered Sweet Corn Ravioli, Scallop, Salmon, Sea Bass and chocolate ice cream pie, they were all very yummy and tasty. We plan to come back and put it as our restaurants rotations."

  • "Boys Night Out. Parking is easy and free with validation, both valet and self-parking in their own lot. There is a patio, an inside space, and a big lounge with its own patio and a few tables plus of course the bar. Our table was ready at our reservation time. We were seated outside, but the traffic on Vineland wasn't an issue. The place has a good feel to it. The tables are far enough apart that you're not sitting in someone's lap. Our server Robin was great. The consensus was that the food LOOKED awesome, but was sort of bland. (I had peaches w/burrata, veggie lasagna, and brussel sprouts.) Prices reasonable for a foodie place ($50 each including tip -- not much drinking). I'd go back with a date and order something different."

  • "Warren's Blackboard is a welcome find for anyone living in Studio City/Sherman Oaks. The Chef is wonderful and the menu is made with really good ingredients - mostly organic and sustainable. The menu is imaginative but appeals to a wide audience. It's also a wonderful space with comfortable seating and and noise level is low so an excellent venue for conversation. We haven't patronized the lounge yet where they screen classic films and have cozy seating but it always looks tempting. Have been here for lunch, brunch and dinner. Brunch is a killer menu. Loved every dish I've tried here."

  • "i have had breakfast, lunch and dinner - always a positive eating adventure with outstanding service. i am planning to have intimate client presentations at warren's - they have a meeting room that will fit 15-16 - a dining room feel vs corporate conference room. i suggest you check out room for special occasions - free parking - great food."

  • "We made reservations for 830p. they didnt seat us until 910p as we were telling them we were leaving. so the hostess said that she promised to have the chef expedite our food. so we sat. Surprisingly, after being seated. They didn't take our drink order for another 15 minutes. We were about to walk out again and the hostess came and asked if they took our order, no, so she took it. Food came quickly, then of course our waiter had not been checking on us the whole time other than bringing salt/pepper. Food was excellent but service was worst I've ever had. I almost wasn't going to tip at all, but I'd feel guilty for the hostess trying harder than the waiter himself to correct it."

  • "I've been here for dinner which was great. Eating lunch on the outside patio was very nice. We had the DineLA menu. I liked my crab sandwich but my friend wasn't very happy with her faro salad as it had too many beans in it & a small amt of faro. When asked for more faro, she was charged for it. Also, some of the wine by the glass was pretty expensive - $14. it was the best cab but pricey."

  • "Second trip to WBB - seated outside on the lovely patio both times. As before the food was excellent, especially for the price. Our server was accurate, efficient and very pleasant. My only objection/concern was the very long interval between the first courses and second courses. Overall, an excellent experience and great value."

  • "This is a low key place that is bustling with people eating great food and having lots of fun. The menu is eclectic and we had such treats as mushroom popovers, California sea bass with fresh corn off the cob and heirloom tomatoes, to-die-for brussel sprouts that were crispy and sweet and amazing broccolini. The piece de resistance was sticky toffee cake that was better than any we've ever had from London to Melbourne to Auckland. Service, food and prices are all insanely good! I think I will go back for a second dinner tonight! LOL"

  • "We went with 5 people and enjoyed our meal even though our table wasn't ready at our reservation time. I think the corkage was high - $20 a bottle and we had 3 so it was $60 added to the bill. The ricotta stuffed zucchini blossoms were excellent as well as the albacore poke. Also, enjoyed the vegetable sides."

  • "Let's start with service: Fidel, our waiter, gracious & knowledgeable, expertly guided us through our wine & entree selections. We were not disappointed. The Puff Pastry appetizer was incredible. Sea Bass, outstanding; pork chop, succulent and the short rib pasta, melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Our dining experience was truly exceptional! I would highly recommend Warren's Blackboard."

  • "We invited friends to join us for dinner at Warren's (their first time, our 6th). They really enjoyed the experience. Casual, cool and nice decor. The food is always great and the prices are reasonable. We would say it is one if the best restaurants in the valley and rivals peers in Mid Wilshire (but way less expensive). Food is fresh, inventive, prepared and plated well. Highly recommend the homemade pastas(handkerchief is awesome). We also really like the mushroom popover and burger. Most if the balance of the menu changes regularly, but so far every dish has been good. Parking is free with validation.....where else can you park your car yourself for free in LA?? Finally, we highly recommend the well crafted signature cocktails."

  • "Dinner was a very enjoyable experience. We made last minute reservations for a Thursday night and were able to enjoy an outside table. Our waiter, as well as the entire staff that I spoke to, was very friendly. The service was excellent, as was the food. I had the chicken, which came with a delicious au jus, artichoke and tater tots. The interior didn't look so exciting but I understand they will be remodeling soon. Our only complaint was that the seats were not very comfortable. Maybe when they remodel, they can invest in some seat cushions. Overall, an enjoyable meal at an affordable price."

  • "I happen to live a few blocks from the restaurant, and so I've passed by many times, curious as to what the place was like. Recently, I had a friend in town who wanted to eat out, so I recommended that we both try the place. My one regret about the experience was that I hadn't eaten their sooner. The food was amazing in both plating technique (something I always appreciate) and taste; it was so good, that I made reservations and took my girlfriend there on a date! I did this partially because I knew she'd enjoy me taking her out, but more so because I just wanted to eat there again. I'll definitely be back soon."

  • "Warren's Blackboard is a great new find over at The Garland -- which is undergoing a big renovation into a boutique hotel. This restaurant will complement what they're doing with the space very well. All of the appetizers we had were great, we split on entree (a VERY tender pork chop) and the specialty cocktail was also outstanding. We've all driven by this hotel for years and they had a coffee shop there which was very standard. But, opening this restaurant in that space takes it to a whole new level! There's a great patio for outside dining on warm valley evenings and this should be on everyone's list soon enough!"

  • "Have been to Warren's Blackboard twice and we'll be back. Met another couple there on our most recent visit. We decided to share dishes so everyone could have a taste. From the appetizer menu we had the Albacore Poke (a favorite), squash blossoms, and burrata with roasted peaches. For entrees we had the pork chop with polenta (excellent) and the sea bass. Everything was delicious and the service was wonderful. On our first visit we sat outside on the patio which was lovely. This time we sat inside. Very nice, but on a warm summer night I would opt for the patio if given the choice. Warren's is by no means the French Laundry, but what a gem for Studio City... and at the Beverly Garland Hotel no less! Who'da thunk it?!"

  • "The food was much better than the atmosphere. The outdoor chairs need to be replaced in the restaurant, and because the ceiling is so low, they need something to buffer the noise (possibly something between the booths). Speaking of the booths they are too small. You can not comfortably fit 4 full adults in the booths, they are not wide enough."

We loved the squash blossoms stuffed with ricotta, really thought the popover with mushrooms and asparagus was amazing and each of our entries were to perfection with wonderful flavors and freshness -- salmon, sea bass and pork chop.   • "My high expectations for this revitalization of a neighborhood eatery were quickly dashed with the initial arrival of the food. The high brow menu quickly turned to bad experimental food offerings. First it was the fruit cart that arrived in a plastic disposable cup containing all pale, some not quite ripe fruit, missing several items listed in the menu description. A street corner vendor version of the same offers better presentation, greater variety, and more fresh flavorful selections of fruit. The seafood dishes followed with nothing fresh, all of it canned or frozen, and the taste revealed nothing had even been rinsed from the canned fluids not to mention otherwise properly prepared. Even the look of the entrees screamed Norms."

  • "Everything was wonderful...the menu, the service, the ambiance. Three out of four meals were perfect!... but unfortunately mine was not. I ordered stuffed zucchini blossoms as an appetizer. The cheese stuffing was cold in the center so undercooked. I ordered salmon for my entree. It was very dry so overcooked. Maybe I'll have better luck next time. :)"

  • "I've now eaten here 3 times, and have loved it each time! The food is fresh, organic and just totally delicious. Our waiter is Fidel, or Vidal not sure which it is but he is the BEST!!! Always remembers my name, he also works room service at the hotel... ask to sit in his section. We love sitting outside... You won't be disappointed!"

  • "The online menu looked great but when we walked in we were taken aback at the bland, generic hotel decor. Not to fear, the waitress soon explained their premise - that they were an interim restaurant preparing for a renovation and trying out menu items in the meantime. That explained the dichotomy between the amazing food and the bland atmosphere. Everything we had was spot-on - short ribs with homemade pasta, popovers with bacon and mushroom compote, squash blossoms with ricotta - all were perfectly cooked and presented. I would highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to try it out once it converts to its next iteration!"
