A word from Ward's House of Prime Milwaukee
Collectively, we’ve been in the steakhouse business for as long as you’ve been craving a truly unique dining experience – maybe even longer. At Ward's House of Prime Milwaukee, we learned what you wanted from a steakhouse and then we designed a restaurant where high-end entrees are served at a reasonable price in an atmosphere that’s upscale yet relaxed.

At our steakhouse, we want you to feel just as comfortable ordering full-plate entrees in the main dining room as you would ordering from the bar menu and watching sports in the lounge. While prime rib is our specialty (served every day), we also give special attention to seafood, chicken, veal and vegetarian entrees as well as our lighter fare of appetizers, sliders and stonefire flatbreads. And we offer a variety of martinis, beers, cocktails and wines by the glass – as well as an extensive list of 500 wines by the bottle, all at a fair price.

We hope you’ll dine with us soon!

Extremely well prepared and presented food. Generous well dressed house salads to begin. Filet and Veal Marsala were excellent. French fries nicely crusted and sprinkled with parmesan cheese were a nice complement to the entree.

My wife & I decided last minute to go out for a nice meal on a Sat night, and we were not disappointed by the service and the food at Wards. Our server Patrick was terrific and let us enjoy our bottle of wine by spacing out the food delivery and letting us enjoy the night out. The prime rib we both had was terrific and cooked exactly they way we ordered it. I will return soon.

Our group was very happy with all aspects of the dinner except the service between courses. We had to wait for used plates to be removed and even help shuffle stuff around to make room for the food. It seems so basic yet makes a huge impact.

We went for lunch and it was our first visit. Staff was very attentive. Menu had a nice selection of lunch items along with great wine, beer and cocktail selections. We had a prime rib flatbread, which was ok (great thin crust, but meat was too done).I got the prime rib sandwich (very good). My wife wanted to try the 8 oz prime rib, but could not resist the lobster ravioli, which was excellent. We plan on a return visit for dinner to try the prime rib and other selections. Our server was excellent and well versed on the menu.

Arrived on time for 5:30 reservation prior to 8:00 pm concert. Requested a push back to allow us to have a beverage at the bar- Request was accomodation with a smile. As the bar filled we were taken to a table with an out door view. Service was solid. Salads were of high quality- The ladies ordered the tenderloin and scallop special. Both steak and scallops were prepared perfectly. The men enjoyed the prime rib. Again served as ordered well above average taste and texture. Wards provides a solid downtown experience at a reasonable price point- Take advantage of the Valet parking!

  • 12oz Prime Rib is NOT "Special"

We went for the 2nd Friday Prime Rib Special. This was our first time dining in the Dining Room of the downtown Ward's, though we've dined in the lounge before. What we were served looked like "Road Kill", a thin, mangled looking piece of meat. The texture was not pleasant as when we attempted to cut and eat, it was more like shreds or meat, NOT succulent bites of Prime Rib. The taste was not that "awesome taste" one usually experiences when biting into a Roasted Prime Rib. Additionally, the salad appeared to be greens dumped out of a bag, with tiny machine chopped vegetables that didn't look appetizing. The baked potato was the smallest spud we've ever been served in a restaurant.

It was an expensive night out by our standards but it was great to have wonderful attention & excellent food! We were all pleasantly full without being hungry a short time later! Scallops are my favorite & ours were prepared to perfection! The guys really loved their steaks as well!

My boyfriend and I with a few friends went to Ward's for his birthday. When we arrived the hostess was very welcoming and pointed us to the other members of our party. She allowed us to chat a bit and rider drinks before seating us. When we got to the table we were greeted by our server, who was very knowledgeable about the menu. He answered all of our questions thoroughly and without hesitation. He was very attentive to our needs but was not intrusive or annoying in any way. I ordered the prime rib and LOVED it, the men in our party ordered the special of the evening, a sirloin and bacon wrapped scallops, which they both agreed were awesome. The salmon was also ordered and she said it was great as well. We all agreed that we would be back!

My wife and I went to Wards for the first time and were impressed start to finish. The food was amazing. From the calimari appetizer to the Cajun Mac and cheese with dinner (which I highly recommend). Not to mention the Prime Rib that lived up to everything I had heard about it. The staff was friendly, and efficient. Wards House of Prime is an awesome steakhouse and a great spot for two. We will definitely be going back.

Calamari was bland and no seasoning on the steak. Lobster bisque had good flavor however lobster was dry, twice baked potatoe was good and sauté mushrooms was plenty for 2 with great flavor. I was disappointed to say the least on the filet as that was suppose to be the star of the dish, I expected more for the price. For two it was over a hundred with no cocktails or dessert.

As a regular business traveler, I have eaten prime rib all over the country. Ward's prime rib is delicious; well seasoned, full of juice and extremely tender. Their homemade salad dressings are delicious as well. We were in Milwaukee for a show and I am so glad we decided on Ward's for dinner. We heard about it on the Food Network and instead of being disappointed as we have been with previous restaurants, we were very happy with the quality of the food, service and cocktails.

Maybe in several other states too. Huge portions (if you want to eat that much) for a fair price--fresh, delicious, perfectly prepared. One criticism, the au jus is very salty, I would suggest asking for it on the side; the meat is so juicy that it's not necessary and that way one can pour as little or as much as you like on the roast.

Wards has always had the best prime rib and this time was no exception. Our server was great, attentive but not intrusive. We went after work on a Fri. around 5pm and had the dining room to ourselves for most of our meal. The bar had a lot of people chattering away, enjoying themselves. We even got to park around the corner, close by. A very pleasant experience altogether.

The only thing I'd be hesitantly critical of is the Noise Level. The group across from us was incredibly loud. I recognize that the level of noise generated by customers cannot be controlled by the restaurant. But maybe some consideration should be given to separate areas for groups of 6 or larger. Putting 2 customers at a table across from a large group made our conversation very difficult to hear. Everything else and I do mean absolutely everything else was excellent. I hadn't been to Ward's for a while and was delighted that the quality of food and service has not diminished. It is apparent that Ward's prides itself on quality of food and servers. The Hostess was equally delightful.

The food was awesome, but a bit pricey. We received a $25 gift certificate for our anniversary, that is the only reason we attended Wards. I'm not sure we would have ate there. The prices are not for your average pocket book. We would probably have to save for 6 months to eat there again.

One of the top dinners I've had anywhere....lobster chunks and Ahi tuna appetizers were excellent. Had the best prime rib, hands down, I've ever had with a great salad and asparagus side. Terrific service, nice wine list, and excellent cab recommendation from the waiter. If you like a prime rib treat a couple of times a year, make both of those events at Ward's. You won't be disappointed. The crème Brulle was quite good also and made up for the errant fire alarm that serenaded us for about 10 minutes.
