A word from Ward's House of Prime - Delafield
Collectively, we’ve been in the steakhouse business for as long as you’ve been craving a truly unique dining experience – maybe even longer. At Ward’s House of Prime, we learned what you wanted from a steakhouse and then we designed a restaurant where high-end entrees are served at a reasonable price in an atmosphere that’s upscale yet relaxed.

At our steakhouse, we want you to feel just as comfortable ordering full-plate entrees in the main dining room as you would ordering from the bar menu and watching sports in the lounge. While prime rib is our specialty (served every day), we also give special attention to seafood, chicken, veal and vegetarian entrees as well as our lighter fare of appetizers, sliders and stonefire flatbreads. And we offer a variety of martinis, beers, cocktails and wines by the glass – as well as an extensive list of 500 wines by the bottle, all at a fair price.

We hope you’ll dine with us soon!

My wife and I visited Ward's House of Prime a second time recently. It is good to have a better quality steak house in Delafield, which stands head over heels above the typical supper club. I had a steak for my first visit, which was quite good, and Ahi Tuna for the most recent visit, which was average, lacking in taste somewhat. My wife had steak on both occasions, and they got the temperature wrong on it most recently. The service was good, but the environment too noisy for a comfortable conversation, with some guests laughing and carrying on with loud voices that reverberated off the walls of the small upstairs dining room. This may be expected on Saturday evening, but is not congenial. Ward's presents another good option in Delafield, but as a steak house, not fine dining.

We had family visiting from out of town. Having been to Ward's a few times, we knew we wouldn't be wrong in bringing them here for dinner. In addition, they saw the review on the travel channel and were anxious to try the Prime Rib. Ward's definitely didn't disappoint! Our guests stated it was the best steak they've had in a long time. Of course our meals were exceptional, as well! The wine was fabulous and the service was excellent!

The food was great, we were seated in the front area where the bar is located and we were near the door and it was VERY loud and people were always crowded near our table. Next time I would ask to be seated upstairs or in another area. Other than that a good experience.

Slightly disapointed. Our meal was quite average at an above average place. Drinks (martini & gimlet) weren't very good. Soup was thin, ribs were tough, asparagus super boring, and service just average. My filet was lovely as was the beef carpaccio. Will go back as this is usually a wonderful establishment. Just hoping for the experience we've had in the past.

I ordered the ribeye medium rare. The meat was actually cooked perfectly but the grade of the beef was inferior (to say the least) to the $47 price tag. It was chewy and grisly. The service (if you can call it that) was comparable to a Dennys. If it wasnt for the bus boy I dont think I would have received a drink. I will never recommend this so called steak restaurant to anyone.

Went to dinner with another couple for celebration. Service was over the top, and food followed right along. Crab Cakes, scallops and ahi tuna for apps, all outstanding. Robust wine list. I had the bone in rib eye, and one of the best I have had. The 24-ounce prime rib was huge and was as tender as I have tasted. Sea bass was mouth watering and very tasty. The sea food pasta was scrumptious and was sizeable for a doggy bag, as was the prime rib. Don't even like brussel sprouts, and I will come back just for those! Will definitely be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food with our visitors. Could not fault the food. Due to a rather large party on the table next to us, it was very noisy. Waiter did recommend a very expensive wine which was unaffordable - unusual too to recommend such an expensive one.

It was our anniv and we wanted to dine in style at somewhere we had never been. Drinks and appetizers went well and main course was delivered in a timely manner. The prime rib was very "chewy". I ate part of it and another waiter came and asked if I was done. As I said yes, he asked if I wanted it wrapped to go. I said no. Then the manager stopped and asked how dinner was. I told him the prime rib was not good at all, very tough and he looked at the plate waiter was holding. He then asked how my wife's dinner was. She told him the Lobster had good flavor but was slightly overcooked. He then walked away and that was the last we saw of him. I expected quite a bit more out of a restaurant that prides themselves in "fine dining".

Although I made reservations weeks before went, we were seated in the bar instead of the dining room. The bar was extremely loud and we would have preferred the dining area, especially since this was a special occasion for us (birthday). I had the prime rib which was flavorful but very chewy. My dining companion had the veal marsala which was very good. The food wasn't worth the prices charged and we won't be returning.

Tried Wards for the first time this past weekend for our 30th wedding anniversary. Prime rib was the best I have had. Had the 24 oz prime done rare ++ at waiters recommendation. Finished the leftovers this evening. Not quite as good as the night it was prepared, but still darn tasty! Staff were all pleasant and truely were happy that you were there to share your evening with them.

We recently enjoyed our dining experience at Wards. The wine list is outstanding and the craft brew selection is like nothing I've ever seen. Nothing is on tap - only bottles which allows for a wider selection including my husband's favorite Two Hearted Ale! The wait staff was attentive, enthusiastic about the restaurant, and very knowledgeable regarding wine a food selections. A member of our party had the filet and had it butterflied - it melted in our mouths - was fantastic!

The service was good, the ambiance was "ok" once we got upstairs (the downstairs is just like a neighborhood bar). We dressed based on menu prices, and found that we were overdressed. Apparently t-shirts, shorts, and sandals are allowed at this 'fine dining' establishment. No worries, we were there to eat some delicious prime, not attend a fashion show. Unfortunately the delicious prime was nowhere to be found. we were served prime that did not appear to have been slow roasted, and was nothing but fat, gristle, and vein. Also, it's bone in, So my $83 piece of prime have probably 16 ounces of terrible tasting consumable meat on it. The twice baked potatoes were fantastic, and the South African lobster was tasty, but overcooked and rubbery.

I had the Veal Marsala and my wife and sons all had the Filet. Every bite was awesome! I love steak and I love Italian food, and Ward's knocked it out of the park on both counts! Not sure what the tables upstairs were like. We were on the ground level - tall chairs (I would have preferred to have my feet on the ground). It was a bit loud, but we were there at 7:30 on a Saturday night, so... Loud but not obnoxious. All in all, it was great!! We will definitely be back!!

RESERVATIONS: I made an online reservation (super-easy) to guarantee we'd have a table for our anniversary weekend dinner. FOOD: The hubs had a 24 oz prime rib, salad and mashed potatoes. I had a 14 oz bone-in filet, twice baked potatoes, salad. Excellent--very tasty, and the meat was cooked perfectly. DRINKS: My hubby had some Spotted Cow ale, and I had my first ever martini! Cory's Cosmopolitan--yummy! We also had some fantastic coffee with dessert (see "SERVICE"). SERVICE: Impeccable. I waffled between 2 desserts before making my choice, and when the server or mgr. decided we waited too long to get it, we were brought both--ON THE HOUSE! It was a lovely evening on the balcony outdoors!

We both had steak and scallops. First, let me say that the steak was tender and flavorful. It was the highlight of our meal. The noise level was very high; we had trouble carrying on a conversation. The scallops were overdone and almost soggy. The double baked potato was mushy, lacking the crust on top the way that I like it. The presentation was nonexistent; the food was simply thrown on the plate with little thought given to the way it looked. For the prices they are asking (our dinner came to $130 with 2 glasses of wine and no dessert), I expect a lot more value for my money. I won't be going back any time soon.

We had a great experience at Ward's. Downstairs is a very vibrant bar with wood paneling and wine lockers. Dining is upstairs. Formal but comfortable with white tablecloths, wood floors and local art on the walls. Our server was very nice and gave good feedback on our questions. My husband had the sea bass and he said it was one of the best he has ever had. Huge piece cooked perfectly. I had steak and scallops and all were delicious. Nice wine list - reasonably priced and you will find all of your favorites in there. We will definitely be back.

Service was very good, with a very nice waitstaff. We did order an appetizer which never came. Food presentation was very bland. Steak on a plate...that was it. No garnish whatesoever. A 6 oz filet on a giant square - with nothing else on the plate looked very awkward and like a giant rip off. Food tasted good, however, for the money I would try another place next time.

We dined at Ward's this past Saturday. We arrived early for our dinner reservation. The bar staff was very friendly & helpful. Dinner was excellent. I had the Sea Bass, my Wife had prime Rib. The Bass was as tasty & flavorful as any I have ever had. The Prime was very good. We thought it was overpriced for its size. (8oz.) Overall a most enjoyable evening. We will be going back for sure.

It was our first time at Ward's and it won't be our last for sure. It was a beautiful evening and we were able to dine outside. Our server, was very friendly and helpful. Two people in our party ordered the Prime Rib which was cooked perfectly. One person ordered the Lobster Ravioli and she also said it was very good. My husband ordered a New York Strip which was excellent. We ordered the mushrooms, dinner salads, and Brussel Sprouts and all the sides were very good. We never went inside so I can't comment on the bar area. We also loved their great wine selection. The restaurant Manager, (I think) came over to say hello and thank us for dining with them. I appreciate that little gesture. It was a lovely dining experience.

Wife & I were pre-celebrating Fathers Day with the hope of finding a superior prime rib. Everything was exceptional except the prime which was wonderful looking but lacked taste. We're still searching. Only downside was the upstairs seating. My wife walks with a cane but negotiated the stairs with effort. After dinner we discovered that they do have an elevator but noone offered that option on our arrival.

I had never been to the restaurant in Milwaukee, but if it's anything like Wards in Delafield I will be going back to both! Gotta have the a prime rib of course which was excellent, ask for the horseradish sauce if that's your thing cause it is good. Our salad with house vinaigrette was very nice. Sides were good, my twice baked potato needed a bit more pop, kinda bland. My party ordered asparagus, it was cooked well but our hollandaise sauce was a bit broken. The wine lists was robust and had a lot to choose from. Overall, it was a bit on the expensive side but it's not to far from what you would expect for a quality meal in Delafield. Service was excellent and ambiance was nice, a little loud in upstairs dining area, not to bad.

Was there with my wife for our 22 anniversary. This new restaurant is in our community. I would like it to succeed. I have never been to the original restaurant downtown. My first test for all steak restaurants is comparing their seafood/lobster/shellfish bisque. This was a disappointment. Was it created from a stock canned broth? It was very bland, thin and simply boring. Don't get me wrong, it tasted pleasant but not what I would expect from a high end steak place. I made a similar note with my steak. Just needed a little more seasoning. However on a very positive note, I ordered my steak rare, which I usually do. For one of the first times in my life I was actually served a rare steak. That was truly a treat.
