We found Walter foods for my birthday dinner in March 2013. Returning to NYC we were keen to find out whether this fine restaurant were still there in this ever changing NYC bar and restaurant scene. It did survive luckily. The food was delicious, be it the steak, the outstanding burger or the catfish. The wine list still very good, German and Czech beers available too. Service and price very good. Will certainly be back. Do book a table in advance.

Started with the shrimp cocktail and fresh crab and some cocktails. For brunch I had the steak and eggs , which was cooked to perfection and my mother and husband had the Eggs Benedict with the crab cakes ... Delicious!

Outstanding food, laid back atmosphere, good service. Walters is our W-burg go to restaurant. Fab food!! Must haves: Deviled eggs, mussels, & green beans are a must. I had the gnocchi which is probably the best dish I've had in years. Delicate & flavorful! Thumbs up to the bar steak too!

This is a solid restaurant and I'm lucky to live nearby. The deviled eggs and pigs in the blanket were done expertly. The fried chicken is the most popular item on the menu and it doesn't disappoint. I had the French dip which was very tasty on a very crusty baguette, Overall this is a great place with reasonable prices. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. For neighborhood comparisons, I think Dumont offers a similar experience.

Perhaps it was because his gratuity was included in the bill for our group of 8, but our waiter was totally checked out for our meal. Two of our starters came after our salads, and well after the majority of our appetizers. We were consistently without drinks. We weren't offered a dessert menu. And had to order coffee from the bus boy. Not the level of service that you would expect when spending $100+ on a meal. I have eaten at the Walter in Fort Greene, and both the service and food was fantastic. I am sad that our experience at the Williamsburg location was so different and disappointing from a service perspective.

I liked all of the food here except for the fried chicken. It was over cooked, but I was in such a hurry with all my friends we did not make a complaint. The drinks here were very good as well.
