Good food and atmosphere make for
a fun night out with friends."

This was our second time to Walnut
Grill and the experience was a little different than our first visit. The service wasn't as good because we were never told if they had any specials or soups of the day. Our appetizer was a burnt and the restaurant was out of baked potatoes. Overall our meal was good but it wasn't as great of an experience that we had the first time."

This was our second time at Walnut
Grill and it was just how we remember. Delicious food, wonderful ambience, and friendly staff. Only hesitation was that we waited over 30 minutes for our entrees after our salads and another 25 minutes after our table was cleared for our check. Great place though!"

I went here on a spur of the
moment date. We used OpenTable to book our reservation. It was very quiet during dinnertime, even though all of the occupied tables were grouped into one area. The service was fast and efficient. I definitely want to go back during a busier time to get the full experience."
Dined on 12/28/2013
We had a lunch recently and I
thought the food was quite good. Our waitress was terrific. My only thought is that the ambience is a bit like a sports bar rather than a good restaurant that features quality food and a really nice dining experience. Great for lunch."

Love the half-price bottles of
wine on Wednesday, the food was delicious and our server was beyond attentive. Would have given service 5 stars if it weren't for them bringing out the food so quickly. I know it seems silly, but it is daunting and uncomfortable when your salad comes out with half of your appetizer left to go and meals before salad is done. Everything came out hot and delicious (as usual) I just would have felt more relaxed if we had time to taste the last food that was brought to our table before the next course arrived. This must be common for them because it is the second time it has happened to us at this location. Next time I think I'll delay our dinner order until after the app shows up."

I'm pretty picky when it come to
dining out and I have not one complaint. The food was incredible, homemade dressings, a good variety of items on the menu. We were very pleasantly surprised and look forward to going back soon!"

Honestly, I had been looking
forward to trying Walnut Grill. I've heard a lot of great things. The biggest disappointment was the food. I ordered off the Valentine's Day special menu - the surf & turf. The menu was great, it had a lot of things I wanted to try. Unfortunately, the steak was literally the size of a ritz cracker. It was delicious and tender, but so tiny. And the lobster tail was okay, at best. It was cold and a little too squishy and chewy. I grew up on a beach, I've had great lobster tail - this was not it. I ordered the seasonal veggies, very tasty. They took up half of my plate, which felt like they were trying to hide the tiny steak. I guess I should have known when the menu didn't state the ounces for the steak."

we had reservations & were seated
quickly, our server was very efficient & friendly. Our food was served hot & looked very appetizing, my Tuscan Chicken was awesome & my husband had the Mixed Grille, he said "Best Dinner I had in years we will be back here for sure" We had Mothers Day Brunch at The Walnut Grille last year & we will be back this year too, Thank You!"

Arrived earlier than our
reservations seated to our table right away (5:45 reservation arrived 5:40) Ordered cocktails no appetizers and then ordered our entrees straight away. One hour later no entrees. Server was then informed that we had an 8:00 PM show to attend in town. She did apologize and could not understand what was taking so long. Restaurant was only half full. Several minutes later our order arrived with one of the orders having the wrong side dish. No one from management approached our table with an apology, an offer for a round of cocktails or anything for our extraordinary wait. Food was good but worthy of a one hour wait? Not sure about that."

From being served on time on a
Saturday night, through the fine draft beer selection and knowledgable, hard working bartender, to a very good meal served by an attentive waitperson, Walnut Grill proved to be a restaurant we will now frequent. Prices also quite reasonable."

Great service and food. Great
seats to eat and watch the game."

My wife and I ended up here after
we couldn't find a reservation for Valentine's day. This ended up being an excellent last minute decision. The food was excellent and the service was second to none. Gillian out waitress was very knowledgable about the menu and wine list, she made several suggestions along the way to pair with our wine choice. The meal was also spaced evenly, at no point from appetizer to dessert were we ever overwhelmed with the amount of food placed in front of us. I would highly recommend this place to any couple or family as it was a very friendly place overall."

We chose Walnut Grill because of
the location but wow we got so much more! The food was delicious and our service was outstanding! Our waitress was helpful with the menu and we took her advice on some selections. We were not disappointed! From salads to dessert, everything was outstanding. I rarely do a review but I just had to give Walnut Grill a glowing review for our experience."

This was our first time at Walnut
Grill and my wife and I were extremely impressed. The food was excellent and the quantity of food for the price was outstanding. Our server was very knowledgeable in suggestion various items on the menu. We will definitely dine again at Walnut Grill."

We went for the happy hour (5-7).
No special menu was given. We ordered appetizers and was charged full price even though ordered before 7 due to the fact that they were not on a special menu which we never saw NOR did the server ever mention. I will never go back to this restaurant for being so deceptive."

The zucchini appetizer is a must
try. The meal (1 salmon and 1 chicken) presentations were visually appetizing, and the bonus: the food was delicious. Our waitress provided excellent service. The entire evening flowed most comfortably -- from the time we were seated; we never had to wait long for anything (initial service, food or drinks), and never felt rushed. The restaurant and bar had a lot of activity going on, but nothing was so distracting as to interfere with our personal conversations. The evening was most enjoyable. If you're looking for good food, good service and a relaxing atmosphere, this is the place."

Just moving back to Mt. Lebanon we
were very interested in trying out the Walnut Grill. First & foremost the people were nice, the ambience comfortable, and the food tasted very good. We got our appitizer (brie / chicken / raspberry- Quesadillas .. delicous). We then had to wait over an hour for our meal to come. If were told once we were told 10 times that there was a large table holding up the kitchen. The two course meal took over two hours. In the end our meals were very good, slightly pricey for the portions. Spoke to some friends & family the next day and they had similar thoughts on the speed of the service. Think going forward we will make this just a happy hour place."

We have been to this Walnut Grill
before and had wanted to come back with friends. We enjoyed the atmosphere and food both times, however, this time our table was not ready when we arrived. We ordered drinks and they never came. When we got our meals she forgot most of our side dishes. Our server was flustered and kept making excuses for everything because they were not expecting a crowd on a Monday night. There were only 2 tables occupied in the room we were in. Overall the service was terrible. I'm glad only 8 of our party of 14 showed up."

Good food, great service. Visiting
from out of town and this Walnut Grill location was recommended to me and my husband for a quick date night. We sat in dining area but bar looked like it had a good atmosphere as well. The food was good and our waitress was excellent."

We were excited to try the brunch.
The food was awesome. I don't think you need to pay $25 for a brunch when you can eat here for $15. Everyone was very pleasant and the restaurant is one of our favorite spots. We were not disappointed by anything. Try it, you'll like it!"

Great place to bring a friend for
Xmas lunch. The salmon was delicious."
Dined on 12/12/2013
Well worth the drive. Nice place
to dine with friends and have the ability to hear the conversation. Server was great and not intrusive. Food selection is good, but not overwhelming - hate menus that read like a novel. We will return."
Dined on 12/10/2013
Server forgot salads and brought
out entrees first. Slow in general."
Dined on 12/1/2013
Excellent wines available at
decent pricing. May have been my date too, but atmosphere was very conducive to just spend time laughing, talking and (somewhat) quietly catching each other's eyes. We barely ate, but in the overall comfortable, yet classy atmosphere, it was pretty much irrelevant."

Walnut Grill would be a very
welcome improvement over Applebee's or some other chain restaurant in another part of the city, but with it's location on Washington Road in the heart of Mount Lebanon, a stone's throw from two of Pittsburgh Magazine's top 10 restaurants, it is not up to the competition. Brunch buffet is never a favorite of mine, but the selection had variety and was basically decent. Avoid the pre-cooked and overdone Eggs Benedict and take advantage of the made-to-order omelets. And if you want a Bloody Mary not overwhelmed with Worcestershire sauce, be sure to specify that."
Dined on 11/24/2013
Everything about this place was
perfect for anyone looking for a unique food selection but don't feel like breaking the bank to have a nice dinner for two."
Dined on 11/23/2013
Crab cake appetizer was very good.
Balsamic chicken was very good although the edges were charred and uneatable. My father's filet mignon was good but he was told medium well would have some pink in the middle and there was no pink. Service was lacking - huge waits between visits by the waitress. The restaurant and bar had a very nice atmosphere. Looking forward to trying the Sunday brunch."
Dined on 11/16/2013
Our first visit will not be our
last. The food, service and pace of meal were all very good. Mark, our waiter, made several suggestions that turned out to be spot on."
Dined on 11/10/2013
Fried pickles are average, with a
crunchy unseasoned outer batter. They are very oily, as was the fried provolone which we didn't order but arrived in error. We tried one and found it tasteless. The outer batter was crunchy, but again oily and not worth the calories. Pork sliders were tasty, 3 to an order, with ample meat and flavor. Ahi tacos, 3 to a plate, were average to above average in flavor. They contain limited tuna and lack traditional wasabi or ginger, and are served with a typical soy-based sauce. The artichoke, chicken pizza, more of a flatbread, was flavorful, with ample toppings and a crisp crust. Long Island Ice Tea tasted more like a whisky sour; too much sour mix! Service was above average."

Very prompt service, Great food,

We were prompt for the reservation
but the 4 ladies at the desk seemed confused. I said we had a 7pm reservation and she could not 'find' it and could not hear me saying my last name. After they said it would be a few minutes and then after 25 mins, we asked what was going on and was handed a beeper!!!! I was not happy about that at all. After another 5 mins, the table was ready….. but not really. The table was still being cleaned and we had to stand there. The look on my face said what I was feeling - not happy. Then they took us to another ready table. Once we sat down things changed, the server was wonderful and knew what he was doing. He saved the night and from me going off. The food was above average and decent prices."
Dined on 10/26/2013
There were four of us and we all
were pleased with the food. It was delicious, and good portions.. My friend's beet salad was appealing and tasty. Most of us had the Chicken mushroom dish. The chicken was tender and not salty. The manager was very friendly and added to the evening. I'm going to suggest this place to my book club."
Dined on 10/19/2013
So happy we finally got to Walnut
Grill! It made our small family celebration feel big. The décor is inviting and comfortable, the wait staff appropriately attentive, and the food is delicious. We won't wait for another special occasion to return."
Dined on 10/11/2013
Who knew it was 1/2 price on
bottles of wine? The portion sizes were generous, food was delicious with a fabulous presentation. The staff was more than attentive. If your a foodie or looking for a good value with a great atmosphere, this is the place for you and friends. I loved the vegetables and mushroom chicken!"
Dined on 10/9/2013
The atmosphere of this restaurant
is nice and the servers are friendly. There are plenty of seating options (from booths, to tables, etc.) and the vibe is very relaxed compared to other restaurants in the area. The food, however, is not great. It's not bad, just nothing special. I have had the chop salad and also the gyro. Both were edible. It's just disappointing because if the food was on par with the atmosphere, this restaurant would be a favorite."
Dined on 10/2/2013
I have eaten at all the Walnut
Grill's in Pittsburgh, the food at the Mt, Lebanon site is consistently awful. I have now eaten there probably 5 or 6 times, just because I live in Mt. Lebanon. Bad, every time. You can always get in... probably for that reason, when every other restaurant on Washington Rd. is packed."

Great food and good atmosphere.
Our server Chris was excellent and new the menu and recommended a good beer for my wife and I. We will be there again."

We chose walnut grill for our
anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back!"
