Diner Reviews
  • "Had my first date with a women that I met online at your restaurant . We wanted to talk and take our time and the waitress was very patient with us. She would stop every once in a while to see if we were ready to order and we would say no, she would smile and leave. We had an artichoke appetizer that was very good while we were talking. We each ordered the shrimp stuffed with crabmeat and it was very good."

  • "My small group thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Walnut grill in Collier. Everything was great: Our friendly waitress provided timely service, delicious food, nice presentation, nice atmosphere. The sound level was acceptable. I suspect the dinner hour noise level might be different. We all had different salads and loved them all. We all decided we would definitely return."

  • "Great spot to stop between the South Hills and downtown Pittsburgh. The food came out a bit slower than I I like at lunch but was very good. I'll go back for the bar and to watch the games."

  • "My daughter & I had brunch at the Walnut Grill where food and service were excellent. The only negative comment I have is that it is pricey. Other than that, we had a great experience."

  • "This was the third time we had brunch at the Walnut Grill - and unfortunately, the most disappointing. Food was lukewarm, pancakes seemed to have been made with too much salt. The breakfast pastries, muffins, and cookies seemed to have been packaged and picked up the day before from a nearby grocery store. Would be great to offer toast or bagels as well. Salads were good and fresh, as well as omelet station. Service was also very good. But for the price, I think that we will not return for brunch."

  • "Nice place to relax and enjoy a good meal no matter dinner or lunch item. fish tacos are excellent and filling. Black bean soup was velvety and had a nice kick.. The dumpling appitizers are great too. are 4th time there. every server we have had is very knowledgeable on menu items and just pleasant to have serve you.. all waiters too so far"

  • "I made a reservation for four people, my boss and two other friends. We all have a pre dinner cocktail in the bar and then were seated comfortably in a rear area both. All four ordered different meals and they all exceeded our expectations. Our waitress was attentive and professional even though it was quite busy. Overall it was a great experience and I am sure that all four of us will be back soon. Thank you, Searead"

  • "I noticed the ceiling seemed not finished and spurts of warm air would turn on and off in attempt to heat the place. The server was nice and attentive to our needs. I did not like the fact that one of the items listed under special was an appetizer. That should have been corrected else I would have been overcharged. The meal was fair. Chances are I will not visit it again."

  • "We had the perfect table and food was absolutely delicious. Our server Ashley, was a total gem. She made every person feel special and got special orders delivered without a hitch. She added light to the afternoon on a cloudy day. Kudos!"

  • "We have a wonderful experience for brunch last week. The food was hot and tasty. We had two children with us who are picky and they found their favorites and some new favorites. Definately will be back and bringing some new people with us."

  • "Granted it was Saturday but they ran 30-40 minutes late on their reservations. Besides that everything else was wonderful and we'll be making a trip back soon."

  • "If you are not in any kind of rush, then this is the place for you! We had reservations for 8PM,finally sat down at 9PM, our dinner arrived around 10PM. We did manage to continue conversation with our group at the lounge while waiting, but it was a painfully long wait. However, we were very surprised when the food arrived. Everything was excellent!! So the decision to go back is tough..poor service, but excellent food."

  • "The restaurant is bustling. As to be expected in Pittsburgh, portion sizes are huge. With salad be sure to ask for dressing - overly sweet - on side. Atmosphere is friendly and staff goes all out to please. A pleasant evening."

  • "This was a great dinner! Had a nice lentin menu. Has awesome butter that when with bread. Apple, Chocolate Chip Butter Yum! I guess the butter flavors change according to waitress. A friend and I went for a later dinner, so we wanted to share. Waitress never missed a beat, could tell she enjoyed her job gently suggested drinks/dessert, but was not pushy about it. Crab Cakes and orzo very good. Was very enjoyable experience, cant wait to go back to enjoy meat options!"

  • "We had been there before twice and receive a special 1/2 entree coupon for our special day so we went there since it is right down the road from us. The sirloin steak my husband had was awesome!! I was mad that I decided to go with the Crab stuffed Shrimp after trying his plate!!! My shrimp was good but nothing great because the stuffing was too fine and not lumpy. But hey I wanted to try something new, it was still ok. The only thing that kept me giving a 5 star was every time we have gone here, and that would be 3 times, we were taken to our table and had to stop and stand in the middle of the dining room waiting for the hostess to figure out where we would be seated. I would think they would know where we are going before walking."

  • "Disappointed at the quality of the food. I ordered tuna duo. After some delay from appetizers, the floor manager (i think) came out and said the chef overcooked the tuna and they were making a new one. I looked at my table and there were three of us. I had to tell her to bring out other meals so they would not dry out...sigh When tuna came out. it was mostly over cooked. Anyone who has ever had tuna cooked properly knows you just cook quickly to seer the outside. The server asked if I wanted another. I said I didn't want another anymore. They did remove the meal from our bill. And later the waiter gave dessert to apologize. Fail ... I think the manager should have came back to us and did more to make up. Glad we weren't rushed to eat."

  • "Walnut Grill is a welcome addition to the restaurant scene along the Washington Pike corridor. The food, though not outstanding, is several notches above average and fairly priced, and the service is quite satisfactory. The salads, however, are outstanding."

  • "I heard that they had a good beer selection on tap. When we arrived, all the people waiting in the FREEZING entry had reservations. Some had been waiting for over 30 minutes - not a good sign. When we were finally seated, there were no menus for us. Our server, Abby, was very friendly and attentive - the best part of our experience. My buffalo chicken wrap had a very processed taste. My husband's prime rib sandwich was completely tasteless and gave him heartburn. My daughter had the beet salad, which was definitely the best of the three entrees. The sweet potato fries were also good. The beer selection was good - not as good as Mad Mex or Sharp Edge, but a plus for such mediocre food. Also on the plus side were the comfortable booths."

  • "When I dined with this restaurant and chose the Sweet Chili Mahi Mahi. The description in the menu was "Blackened, sweet chili sauce, melon relish" so I assumed it wouldn't have too much heat, as I've had sweet chili sauce before and love it! Well, my dish came out looking like a charcoal brick!!! Now, I realized the menu said blackened but this was far past blackened! I tasted it and my mouth instantly was on fire. I drank a whole glass of water after tasting the smallest piece of the fish. I asked thewaiter, Michael, about it and he said, "Well, it's cajun blackened - what did you expect?" If I would've know it was cajun blackened, I would've never bothered ordering this entree. He argued with me for a few minutes and did nothing..."

  • "More of a let's see what used to be in the Damon's location. We were impressed. Although it was Annual Margarita Day, we opted for the Saturday DOD, Long Island Ice Tea. The fish tacos were tasty and the fried fish sandwich could rival the upcoming lenten fish fry."

  • "Food and cocktails were great - chicken gnocchi and prime rib sandwich - only thing I would have changed were the creepy guys at the bar"

  • "Made a reservation for 7 PM and had to wait 30 minutes for a table. There were at least 2 other groups who had to wait over 20 minutes past their reservation. When asked, Hostesses went to check for our table at least 3 times only to dissappear for a few minutes then come back and just stare at the computer. Once we were seated the waiter did a good job. Food was good overall."

  • "My wife and I are very excited about this place! High-end menu at a moderate price. The food is some of the best I've tasted in ages, and is of a quality equal to or better than some of the places you'd expect on Grandview Ave! ...without the high bill. The drink selection is very wide. The management was friendly and personable. The general manager made us feel like we were long time good friends, making sure our every need was met, giving us this attention on one of the busiest days of the year was commendable!"

  • "Good food at a convenient location. Large restaurant with large restaurant ambiance. Can be loud if you are seated in the right place. Enjoy when I get a booth. Very busy on weekends and reservations are necessary. Fish taco's are very good....nice portion size. Low cal menu food is a bit difficult to find. We find the wait staff almost too attentive if there is such a thing! At lunch they come every 5 minutes."

  • "We have eaten there several times and the food and service have been great! We will be back!"
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "My review would be a lot lower if it was not for the food. The food was actually really good but we had to wait almost 75 minutes to get it. Yes, it was a busy night, but that sort of delay is unacceptable. Plus the costs are fairly high for what is a less than elegant dining experience. Three star prices with two star ambiance."

  • "We had a great time. Food and service were very good especially because of the big crowd they had for Valentine's Day. Would recommend it."

  • "Went here for Valentine's Day, was a little skeptical because it was one of the only restaurants in the Pittsburgh area with a reservation still available as of Thursday evening. Food was great (Pulled Pork Nachos!!) and service was great. Only complaint was an obnoxious group across from me and my date, but can't blame the restaurant on that!! Will definitely be back when I'm in Pittsburgh again!!"
