A word from Walnut Creek Yacht Club

Ellen McCarty and Kevin Weinberg opened the Walnut Creek Yacht Club in May of 1997 with the mission of bringing the finest and freshest from the sea to Walnut Creek. Why do we call ourselves a yacht club? Because we want to bring the atmosphere of a day on the Bay to landlocked Walnut Creek. We… want our guests to feel comfortable, relaxed, and welcomed. Our décor includes many beautiful nautical touches: teak, mahogany, stainless steel, and even an authentic jib which was a gift to Kevin from the America’s Cup Defender, Alinghi. In January of 2008 we completed an extensive remodel, expanding the restaurant by twenty-five percent, and adding an oyster bar. We have been voted Best Seafood Restaurant in the East Bay by Diablo Magazine for the last 11 years, and have won numerous other awards, including Best Chef, Best Bartender, and Best Sommelier. We have a full bar, and a Wine Spectator Award winning wine list. Continued

"Food was good and service was excellent. I ordered the seared big eye tuna dish which came out well done and they immediately remedied the situation. The tuna was cooked perfectly and the rest of the dinner was great! Our server was very attentive and knowledgable about the menu. Great place to dine with friends and family."

"The oysters are the best you will find in the east bay! Wait service is always good. Everyone smiles and makes you feel special. The fish is fresh and well prepared. My husband had the chippino and if you are really hungry, this is your dish! Try the chocolate hazelnut torte with a great cup of coffee. ."

"Picked this place because it was #1 on Trip Advisor. The food was very good and we would definitely come again. Our only complaint is that the tables are vey close together and the people next to us we're very vocal. We felt our privacy was compromised and found it difficult to have our own conversation."

"I ordered a scallop dish with pasta and it was delicious. Scallops cooked beautifully. ALso the Cioppino was filled with delicious flavors. Not just a seafood saltiness. On birthdays, they print your name on the menu (if they know beforehand).

Such a great selection of fresh oysters to taste. Probably the only decent selection in the area.

Though I didn't sit in the bar, I sure heard it and squeezed by the crowds at the bar entrance. Looked like a great time. This is a noisy restaurant during prime weekend dinner hours, so that can be less romantic unless you sit in the back. But a great energetic vibe and the servers are always friendly. They were even more enthusiastic to take away the dishes and serve you bread and butter!"

"We'd always wanted to try The Yacht Club for for some reason put it off until this past Saturday. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was fantastic and we really like how you have several options on how you want it prepared. We definitely will go back again and again."
