WallséEverything we expected . . .Wallsé was outstanding! We went here after the theater and we were more than pleased with our choice. After purchasing Neue Cuisine and reading about the restaurants of Kurt Guttenbruner. The foie gras was delightful, the entrees (I had the Schnitzel, my wife the Goulash, and my daughter the Venison) were just delicious, beautifully prepared and nicely served. The staff was great, from the hostess to the servers and the bartender. For dessert, have the Salzburger Nockerl with Huckleberries, you cannot go wrong!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNever, ever, disappoints!Wallse is still on a roll, I have never had a meal there that I did not love from a service staff that creates a perfect dining experience.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA great spot for special occasionsThe restaurant features two gorgeous rooms, one is more "social," the other a bit more intimate. The food is divine and the wine list, impressive. I feel like it's a gem that hasn't been fully discovered yet.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI would have given the foodI would have given the food an "outstanding" rating if it were not for the creamed spinach, which was only a side dish. The rest of the meal was perfection, especially the dessert. I will absolutely return to the restaurant again.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner at WallseOverall it was a good experience with one exception. The scallop and fennel appetizer had no flavor.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, fabulous restaurantYou don't find many restaurants specializing Austrian/Viennese food. I really enjoyed the food. Service was great as well.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEddie OThe food, service, and atmosphere was outstanding. We were pleasantly surprised by the appetizers, entrees, and deserts we had. The Weiner Schnitzel was to die for. We can't wait to go again.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNeeds improvementThe only weakness in our dinning experience was the expresso coffee. For a restaurant of this quality a little more attention should be given to the coffee service, otherwise it was a great night out.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful evening of dinning.A wonderful evening of dinning. All the dishes were top quality - and we will definitely be looking to go again during our next trip to NY4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVienna in the VillageWhat a wonderful place! A friend had long walked passed the restaurant and thought it looked intriguing. I read great reviews and we decided to go. It is casually elegant and absolutely delicious. A modern take on some traditional Austrian cuisine. The service is warm, friendly but unobtrusive and restrained. It's an adult restaurant--quiet and low key, but the food and the wine are demonstrative and fabulous. Will return on special occasions.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI had forgotten to make aI had forgotten to make a reservation for a special occasion and turned to Opentable for what they do best- find reservations! I had passed Wallse many times, but didn't know anything about it. After seeing they had an early opening and reading the reviews I took the reservation. What a wonderful surprise this was for me (for both of us!). The service was wonderful, the cocktails were imaginative and current, and the food was equally as delightful. For almost striking out in the planning process, I certainly hit a homerun on the destination!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMCharmingA delightful restaurant and too often overlooked. Far more romantic than most Village restaurants and with far better culinary offerings. The wine list emphasizes Austrian/German wines. Book a table in the main dining room, as the bar room can be a bit noisy and cramped. Have dined here over a dozen times and still my go-to restaurant in the West Village.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWallse is small and cozy,Wallse is small and cozy, and decorated with gorgeous large flower arrangements in the windows. The restaurant has two rooms, and a small but inviting bar. The service was excellent, as was the food. The only thing to mention is that the entrees are a bit on the small side, which is not a problem, but I would suggest ordering an appetizer as well.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWest Village GemI've been to Wallse many times now and I've never been disappointed. The food is subtle and sophisticated, the staff is great, the wine list is excellent and they have some truly extraordinary desserts. Kudos!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA welcome respite from theA welcome respite from the scrambled-egg-and-chorizo Sunday brunch feeding frenzy; an inventive menu in a lovely setting with reasonable prices, particularly given the level of cooking and service.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a fantastic meal for birthdayHad a fantastic meal for birthday treat. Austrian wines the waiter recommended were great as was every course we ordered. Huge number of staff and very attentive. Goulash was stunning. We will definitely come back.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMImpressive & Romantic EveningThis is a very very good restaurant. The only thing that tops the food is the service. If you want to impress a date take them to Wallse. If possible ask for SASHA, she is a wonderful server.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful!Wallsé is a wonderful restaurant. The food is absolutely superb. I was apprehensive before going there, not knowing what to expect of "Austrian cuisine". I've been pleasantly surprised, time and time again. They serve many German/Austrian standards, but their food is as varied and wonderful as anything you'd find in one of the better French or Italian restaurants, with ample portions. The service is excellent, the location is great and the ambiance is that of a French bistro. I recommend it highly.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAn absolute gem of a placeAn absolute gem of a place . Can't wait to go back . The food was amazing, the service excellent & altogether a stellar experience.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOUTSTANDING!!! Fantastic food,OUTSTANDING!!! Fantastic food, amazing service. We never felt rushed, we had a thoroughly enjoyable anniversary dinner. Can't wait to go back!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Wallse for dinnerWe went to Wallse for dinner on a Monday night. Wallse was tucked away on a treelined block and the wait staff greeted us warmly and immediately upon arrival. The food was authentic, delicious and perfectly portioned. I recommend the foie gras, weiner shnitzel, lamp chop, salmon and the desserts were amazing. Great for a romantic date or for a small dinner party.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food, excellent locationWallsé has become one of my favorite haunts over the past couple of years. The food is excellent, the ambiance is good, and it's tucked away in the far west village, which is charming. Tonight I had the rabbit spaetzle, which is delicious, the Monkfish, which was cooked to utter perfection, and the Salzburger Nockerl, a sublime meringue of vanilla cream and huckleberry. Go. You won't be disappointed.2/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA blood orange vodka cocktailA blood orange vodka cocktail for me a vodka and cucumber cocktail for my daughter and with the guidance of a seasoned sommelier we were off to a perfect start. While the schnitzel was delicate served separated from an accompanying robust potato cucumber salad it benefited from the add on of a creamed spinach - the Lobster tender plump and satisfying made memories. Huckleberry pastry will make you want to snuggle in with this fine professional staff and see what magic breakfast could bring.2/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything about ourLoved everything about our meals again. Can't miss! Snail ravioli and chicken strudel were killer!2/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional!Delightful and interesting - serene and perfect in all ways!
It was truly a lovely meal - the service was attentive but not overbearing.
Clean, clean clean - 3 course prix fixe lunch - so worthwhile, but difficult to choose.
Everything looked so good!
LOVED IT!1/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
