I took a group of 6 people out for a lunch to Wabora (4 of which were clients). The food was of good quality (although they were out of some of the fish that we wanted to order) and the service was reasonable (although they were baffled when we asked for a recommendation on what to order for the table).

We went for a birthday and while the food was amazing, the service was not. Our server always looked like he was stressed out and running around like crazy. He took our drink orders and told is he would be right back for our food order, and disappeared for 15-20 minutes. This happened multiple times throughout the night and we often had to get up to call him over. However, once he took our order, it was never a long wait for the food. The food was excellent. We highly recommend the Tuna Tower (let them mix it when they ask), black cod, and number 42 on the sushi list insert. The raspberry martini was also really good. At dessert time they showed up with delicious ice cream and servers with gongs and sang happy birthday - very enjoyable.

The food was excellent. Our server was professional. However, I will not return. It was very loud thanks to the blasting club music and all the parties we were sitting close to.Additionally, service was slow due to the amount of large parties that night. As a thank you for our patience they gave us free miso soup. (Wow! a $2 deal!)Seems that it is the hot spot for 905ers who want to be seen. Not my thing.

We had a great time. The service was impeccable as well as the sushi rolls that we ordered. They had a good variety of cocktails to choose from as well as wine. The alcoholic beverages they serve are larger than what I'm used too at other restaurants which is always a plus. However, it can be expensive depending on what you order.

The food was very good. We ordered the small boat platter, crispy crunch roll, chicken dumplings and stir fry soba noodles. The prices are in line with its location, given that the restaurant is situated in the Thompson Hotel. Definitely thought it would be busier with more chatter given that we were there on a Friday night. Trendy spot, and good to check out if you want to be in the know.

The food was outstanding and our server made some good recommendations upon request. The server, however, was inexperienced and never asked to take a drink order, if we wanted dessert, or offered much of anything without us asking first. She was pleasant however, and the food was visually appealing and tasty. Great place to go on an unlimited expense account!

This was my third visit and the Sushi never disappoints. We all love it. My party of lady friends all agreed that the freshness and quality was excellent. Service was attentive, efficient and friendly. We will definatley go back. Might be pricey for some, but we feel it's well worth it. My only negative is the quality of music being played catered to a younger crowd and definately not to my liking. I enjoy a wide range of music but this kind is just not to my liking. Fortunately, the company and food superceeded this little downfall.

Wabora has an excellent atmosphere, with great decor. The food was delicious. The only negative was, with large groups, they are unable to split up the cheque which made for a bit of a credit card dance at the end of the night. Overall, very lovely place and would recommend.

The waitstaff were excellent, they were very attentive without being overbearing. There was a bit of a wait for the appetizers, however the waitress was kind enough to bring us some complimentary edamame. There are so many food choices and the sushi list is phenomenal. I have tried different ones each time I've dined here and have never been disappointed. My absolute favorite is the lobster roll, although its pricey its soooo good!! Coming from a big foodie, this is somewhere you've gotta try

It was quiet when we went for dinner as everyone seemed to have escaped the city to head to the cottage. The food was great and our server was amazing. It wasn't the best experience on the patio as it is very dark out there and hard to see the food. Our server tried to accommodate us by bringing what they had as 'candles' from inside, but it hardly lit up the table. Everything we ate was very tasty and excellent quality. The bibimbap in hot stone bowl was a hit with out table! The chilean sea bass was piping hot and delicious! Too bad we weren't able to see the rooftop patio.

The food is still fresh and tasty but the service was very slow considering it was only half full. Wabora seems to be the new hot spot for birthday parties, so every 15 mins your interrupted by these loud drums they play to sing 'happy birthday'. I'd go back b/c it's close and hopefully the patio will open soon.

We booked ahead and said it was for our 1yr wedding ani and that we wanted a nice and somewhat more private table. They sat us in between two big groups of ppl. There were other more quiet spots. Lots in fact. The music was quite loud and the lights were so low that it was way to dark inside the place. The moment you are done with your food they come right away and take your plates. It a tad hovering at times, with the added million cups of water refills. The food was tasty, but you can get tasty at many other places as well. For the amount of hype this place has had I was quite disappointed as a whole.

not the best sushi i've ever had, but everyone seemed to enjoy their dishes. More importantly it was easy to get a table for 7 on short notice on a friday night AND they held our reservation even though we were very late. Bonus points for our server who was excellent. Our table must have been a total pain given half us showed up showed up 1/2 an hour late and the other half later still, with orders staggering in separately as a result. He handled it all with a smile and made arrangements for all of us to get access to the roof bar afterwards.

  • The tempura combo was meagre
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 4/14/2012
The tempura combo was meagre - for $14 there were 5 pieces of tempura - although it was prepared to perfection in that the batter was light and not at all oily. The sushi was, for me, substandard - what kind of sushi chef doesn't put wasabi on the sushi and the rice was rolled too tightly. Rice in really fine sushi needs to be light. The portion sizes of the main courses were very large but more doesn't always mean better. The lighting was so subdued that appreciation for what was on the plates was difficult to discern. It seemed to be a place toe be seen dining but it is not a place that I would return for dinner - the food was mediocre: certainly, it didn't have that flavour flare that I would have expected from other reviews.
