The staff knew our time constraints and made sure we stayed on schedule without making us feel rushed. The food was excellent. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and accommodating. He made sure our child with nut allergies had his food prepared in a safe manner. Overall, it was a wonderful beginning to a very special night for our family.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet brunchAppreciated that noisier groups were in separate rooms and love quiet classical music.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a wonderful time.We celebrated our anniversary. She was patient with our table when we delayed ordering. There was a large party in the room next to us. The staff was sensitive and closed the door between rooms so our meal was quiet and anjoyable. Bibb lettuce salad and beet soup were excellent as was the mini-steak. Salmon was good, though undercooked for some (3) while others (2) liked it. Suggest customers be asked how they want it done. Overall foor was tasty, but not quite hot enough.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was so good. TheThe food was so good. The waitress she ignore us a lot. She did not pay attention to us at all. We keel calling her or ask the assistant to call her. In general it was good experience.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply, thoroughly great!WA Frost has an old world elegance that the proprietors hone ever so well. It has a comfortable feel about it in its several different dining areas. It's hard to choose which of them is most inviting. We were there at lunch during one of the rare warm, sunny days, suggesting their backyard patio, a fabulous venue.
From the hostess' initial greeting through to the end, the staff were prompt and nicely attentive.
The menu afforded a good variety. WA Frost, like many other restaurants, prides itself on purchasing locally grown foods. The beef is excellent.
We all fared well with our entrees. Tasty, indeed!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday DelightGreat experience. Went on a Sunday beofre a concert at the Excel Center. The food and service were both great. We liked that the menu wasn't huge and had some wonderful selections. The food we ordered had gert flavors. Would definitey return!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMBlast from the PastThis was a great last minute find for a romantic night out. The menu was adventurous enough for me and conservative enough for my girlfriend, and the waitstaff was great at recommending wine throughout the meal. Serving sizes were great and those mini-desserts that they have are the perfect way to end a meal. Their share-able plates were more than enough to start off with (we had the mussels) and the place was busy enough were you felt like the restaurant was alive but not to overwhelming where service was compromised. I would definitely go again, maybe try something more traditional like the steak (I had the rabbit).4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a very nice dinnerEnjoyed a very nice dinner in an elegant setting in a relaxed atmosphere.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great meal. We always enjoy coming here. This time we both had a salmon special and the "Kit-Kat Bar" desert. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the dessert was an extremely clever "bar" of shortbread, caramel nuts and chocolate with homemade chai ice cream. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, and we were on time for the theater.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife & myself took ourMy wife & myself took our oldest son & his wife to WA Frost for the 1st time for his birthday. Food very good: quality wines with good price range, excellent cheese platter. Korean BBQ chicken wings were tasty but not very Korean: strong Hoisin flavor, more Chinese.
Entrees: scallops, micro-filet mignon, pork shoulder roulade: all tasty and well prepared.
Service: very attentive.
Definitely plan to go again.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat First Year Anniversary DinnerWe enjoyed our first anniversary dinner there, as we had our wedding night dinner. Food, service, ambiance all outstanding!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good but is way overpricedFood was good but is way overpriced. The atmosphere is nice and fits the area. First time there and took a friend from out of town. A bit disappointed and will likely not go back.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBased on pictures of the restaurantBased on pictures of the restaurant it would appear to be more of a shirt & tie/dress kind of restaurant. However when we arrived we felt a bit overdressed. Many of the other patrons were wearing jeans or even more casual attire. The reason I gave a four for service was that between the time we hung our coats up to sit down and the time the server actually got to our table was a solid 10 minutes. That may not seem like a long time, but both my husband and I have been in the service industry and know that our server should have showed up sooner. The reason i gave a 4 for ambiance is that the tables are awfully close together. We were pretty tucked away but then a table sat right next to us towards the end of the meal making it awkward.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great restaurant! What a great restaurant! The service is impeccable, attentive without being fussy. The food is amazing! And, it's always great when you ask for a scotch old fashioned THAT is indeed what get. I have been here several times and will indeed go back! Thanks for a GREAT dinner!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEveryone was great. We wereEveryone was great. We were delayed in traffic so had to move our reservation back; hostess and wait staff held our table, helped us with our order so we would make the concert on time, let us park in the lot and remembered us when we came back for dessert after the concert. Roasted red pepper/goat cheese soup was awesome!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMy first visit to WA FrostMy first visit to WA Frost was awesome! The wine, food, service and atmosphere were all outstanding! I would highly recommend WA Frost to anyone who wants a wonderful and overall great dining experience!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place for any occasion.A great place for any occasion. Interesting menu, excellent food, charming atmosphere and fine service. Will definitely dine there again and would recommend to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience at an affordable price.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Easter BrunchOur Easter Brunch was very lovely. The service was friendly and yet very professional. Holiday brunches out can be very hectic and our group of eight felt that we were having a special and unhurried Sunday Brunch outing. Each of us enjoyed our entree. My pan roasted White Fish in a succulent sauce with cauliflower was excellent. I love the ambiance, it is like walking back in time in the well appointed drawing room of F. Scott Fitzgerald who frequented the place when it was a pharmacy back in the early 1900's.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu is heavy on cheeseThe menu is heavy on cheese and mushrooms (a great variety of both) and surprisingly devoid of pasta, but everything we had was delicious. The service was gracious and very accommodating.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBring the Romance! My girlfriend and I recently celebrated our one year anniversary at WA Frost. WE had an amzing evening even though I was suffering badly with a fever! Both the Steak I had and the chicken we had were amazing! We had oysters as an app, and were a bit disappointed in them being cold as we were used to warm ones and didn't enjoy them. But thats strictly personal taste. The winter salad was phenominal as was the kit kat dessert. Overall an amazing restaurant in a very cool neighborhood that I'd highly recommend for a romantic evening with that special someone. Oh and they also comped us a glass of bubbly each for our anniversary.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been going to W. A.We have been going to W. A. Frost's for years. The food and service is excellent. The Victorian brick walls, wood flooring, and decor make for comfortable, relaxing dining.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe stayed at the Hotel 340We stayed at the Hotel 340 snd received a voucher for the WA Frost and Company. Went there to celebrate my girlfriends birthday and our waiter sang to her. What we didn't know was that he is opera trained and was incredible! The whole restaurant applauded! Needless to say, he received a large tip! Can't wait to go in the spring/summer when the patio is open! Food was amazing as was the ambiance with the warm fireplace nearby.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGood all around.W.A. Frost continues to be my favorite neighborhood restaurant (among a field of lovely choices) and I am happy whether I go for brunch, lunch, dinner, or happy hour in the bar. I rarely order dessert, but love the mini-dessert options. The mussels are my favorite appetizer or happy hour gnosh. It's just good all around.
Why is it that my reservations on Open Table for W.A. Frost do not earn points?3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding restaurant! VeryOutstanding restaurant! Very unique, artisanal menu... definitely a special occasion dinner selection that will NOT disappoint. Lovely old building w/lots of character - wish we had gone early to have a cocktail in the downstairs lounge. Top 10 restaurant in Twin Cities.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the second time atThis was the second time at WA Frost and Company, and I was not disappointed! WA Frost is beautifully decorated, and when I walked in the host was very respectful to me. He knew his customer service.
I chose the tasting menu, as it was new. I did not choose the wine pairings. I had never done a tasting menu so this was new to me. If you are looking for a variety of tastes and want an adventure, I highly recommend the tasting course.
WA Frost also offers smaller entrees. My friend had the pheasant sausage, it was excellent. The winter lettuce salad was also very good.
Our server was attentive and was great at making suggestions.
I would definitely return. I had a wonderful time.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasure. NeverAlways a pleasure. Never a disappointment. The chef has an amazing way with food.
