Diner Reviews
  • "This was my second visit to the "Vu" and what an uncompromising vista it provides. With unobstructed views, we enjoyed a 50 yard line vantage point for the mesmerizing architectural splendor of the Freedom Tower and a quick gaze south to the Statue of Liberty at the mouth of the Hudson River. Truly a nonpareil visual experience complemented by attentive service and above average luncheon fare. Reward yourself with a relaxing lunch at the Hyatt's 'Vu'."

  • "Great service by people eager to give you the best service. The food is very good as well. The view of Manhattan is superb. You get the impression of dining on a ship in the Hudson. My only reservation is that the portions are a bit small."

  • "The Vu never disappoints. The Black Bass was phenomenal. My server provided outstanding service! The view across the river to NYC is always phenomenal."

  • "As always, nothing beats the view from a window-side table. But lunch was exceptional with a great catch of the day and the service was efficient and invisible, which is always the best. No chatty waiters, no interruptions. Well-trained staff. Still one of my favorites."

  • "Food was good. I ordered the black bass special and substituted the brussel sprouts for the roasted tomato couscous. The fish was delicious but the cous cous was a little bland. My boyfriend ordered a steak which he also said was good however the quinoa was bland as well. It seems like the side dishes were not seasoned. Everything came out with a nice presentation. Service was a little slow but I would still go back and try it again. I was kind of surprised to see that it was not very busy but everything did taste fresh."

  • "Mussel starter was excellent. Crab cake was dry and not much lump. Entrees were acceptable. Dessert had a freezer burn taste."

  • "Perfect corner table with optimal skyline view-- even had binoculars for those inclined! Birthday celebration and everyone enjoyed their dinners-- crisp duck was especially good! Also appreciated that it was quiet enough to enjoy conversation."

  • "Dinner portions and dinner prices for lunch. Typical corporate hotel food situated across from a fabulous view of Manhattan."

  • "Celebrated my wife's birthday with some friends at the Vu. The service was top notch. The views of Manhattan were just stunning. We did not feel "pushed out" when we were finished. The servers were very attentive and knowledgable on the menu. Only drawbacks was that the chairs were not the most comfortable and that the menu was limited. You will enjoy this experience."

  • "We went on a slow night and we found the atmosphere to be very inviting and warm. Beautiful view of Lower Manhattan. Food was good, nothing special, but also well cooked, though my girlfriend's pork chop was a bit on the flavorless side. What made it a memorable night, however, was the excellent service provided by the restaurant. Yoomi, the receptionist was very accommodating and the waiter, who I cannot think of his name at the very moment, was friendly and energetic, happy to have guests, which made the ambiance that much better. Overall, 4 guests with two appetizers, four entrees w/ side dishes, two dessert (out of this world!), and two bottles of Riesling, it came out to roughly $120/person, very moderately priced. Would recommend!"

  • "This is the best restaurant in Jersey City - and it happens to have the best view of Manhattan. We have had dinner and lunch here and both were memorable. The staff is professional and helpful. The menu has just about every option you could desire and the preparation is perfect. I had the catch of the day for dinner and it was the best red snapper that I've ever had. The Seafood Cobb salad is also incredibly full of fresh seafood, avocado and tomato and is fabulous. Thank you Hyatt in Jersey City!"

  • "We always eat at Vu for breakfast whenever we are staying in Jersey City, the weekend buffets are great. This was the first time we had dinner there. The grilled steaks were perfect, my wife had an acorn squash vegetable entrée that she loved, and the fish entree was great. Next stay at the Hyatt will definitely include a dinner at the Vu."

  • "not reviewing breakfast buffet- have not had. reviewing the menu - food is good, expensive for breakfast but the food hits the spot, and service is very good. definitely good for corporate breakfasts since company picks up the bill."

  • "The best thing going for the restaurant is the view, which is better than the River Cafe's. There is also considerably more seating so reservations are easier to get and for events like New Years you can avoid the tunnels. However I had issues with the service. I had made some special requests 2 months prior to my booking and followed up with frequent phone calls, but was only told that my request could not be fufilled 2 months later when I personally came in to check if everything was ready to go. This lack of communication is the only reason I can't give them 4* stars for service and can't recommend them as "Good for Groups". Otherwise it's excellent! *For comparison 4 and 5 star service would be the River Cafe and le Bernadin."

  • "That is it. Seriously.. the view of Mahattan is all you can enjoy ay this restaurant. Other tgmhan that, there is absolutely no need to go there. The food was below par and the service was diaappointing unlike what othet reviewers said."

  • "They should try to sit people with little children away from the adult crowd. Today's parenting skills are lacking and show no concern for other people who are dining. Loud children who walk around are ignored by their parents and upset those of us who are trying to enjoy our experience. Perhaps the waiter could tell the parents to keep their children seated. We had the most obnoxious family group seated in back of our table! They never spoke to their kids about proper behavior during the entire meal. I don't understand why these children were not in bed asleep or why they were eating at such a late hour. The food and service here is outstanding. Too bad it was spoiled by this."

  • "Located at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the setting overlooking the Manhattan is wonderful. They have indoor and outdoor tables, but it’s the outdoor ones that give it the dreamy atmosphere. It’s steak and seafood here are fabulous, and frankly, it’s quite up to the quality it should be for their prices. The wine list is very extensive, too. A great place to celebrate my gf Gigi's birthday last Dec 27th."

  • "Went here for Christmas dinner not my first time here . We come here often for drinks and the spectacular view. The food and service outstanding and the price is what you would expect. I've had dinner several times and was not disappointed. If anything sit at the bar have a cocktail , order from the bar menu to start."

  • "Lovely view and decent service from only the waiter but that is where it all stopped. The high price for a Hyatt is supposed to mean decent food and and a pleasant upscale experience. This Thanksgiving buffet was terrible. The selections were negligible, the food was not restocked promptly, it was not kept clean and neat and although it was titled a brunch it was a misnomer. The best item was the cheese does this tell you anything? Then when it came time to leave we were charged although upon seating they said all parking fees were waived for the holiday if you dine with us. Forty minutes later it was resolved."

  • "We came to VU to celebrate our friends' birthday. Having checked the website we were looking forward to the Chef's pre-fixe dinner options and to the view. We were presented with the regular menue and the usual choices of soups, salads, steaks. The dinner options were not available. The waiter explained that the hotel does not update its website on a regular basis. Keep in mind: we were dining at the Hyatt. The filet mignons were not cooked to order, but still tasty. We thought we stick with the entrees as returning them would not have made any change for the better. The pasta clumbed together, the service was friendly, but not professional, the prices are too high for what the restaurant has to offer. You pay for the view."

  • "I have eaten here a few times and the food is very good for hotel food. I love the food at the bar as well. The views of the manhattan skyline especially the new world trade buildings is just breathtaking. Great place to hang out in Jersey City"

  • "The first word that comes to mind is Service. Our hostess Shaye was the best. Personally on a holiday, she went the extra distance and had the kitchen cook up some green beans since they had not been offered on the buffet. She heat the apple pie and found vanilla ice cream. All without hope of extra tip as the tip was built into our Thanksgiving Buffet price. The buffet was great lots of options but only one veggy brussel sprots or salad. The reason for the green beans. I would recommend this place for the view before now they have be hooked on service."

  • "Vu is the main restaurant for the Hyatt in Jersey City. Doesn't sound too exciting. The hotel, however, sits on a pier in the Hudson across from downtown, and the views are absolutely staggering. If you sit at the end you have a 270 degree view from the Statue of Liberty to the GWB. Vu was fairly quiet - a few hotel guests and some from a meeting on-site -- so this is a great place for a lunch to enjoy views. The food was also very nice. A thick juicy burger on a fresh roll, excellent fries. My colleage had a crab cake burger that he said was good. Vu does a good business for dinner and special occasions, and I now know is also a great place for lunch."

  • "While celebrating a special family occasion, we had a delightful time at the Vu restaurant. The spectacular view of lower Manhattan and the surrounding waters did not disappoint. Although initially we picked this restaurant for the view, we were pleasantly surprised by the good food and the very accommodating, friendly staff, specifically Mohammed, Richard and Irina. We thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely lunch at this restaurant!"

  • "Despite everything we had already read about this restaurant, it overcame our expectations. The service was extremely attentive, the views of Manhattan absolutely amazing, and the food really good. I’d say is the perfect restaurant for an special occasion. We were celebrating my mother’s 60th anniversary, and they even surprised us with a small cake, and let us take a cocktail from the bar at our table, to keep enjoying the incredible views for as long as we wanted. They definitely made our night unforgettable."
