Volterra KirklandLovely dinnerMy friend and I wanted a nice dinner out. Volterra was recommended to me and it was great. One of the reasons I chose Volterra is because they make homemade gluten free pasta. I ended up not feeling like pasta for dinner that night, but will definitely go back. My friend and I split the Panzanella (without bread for me but still good). I had salmon which was great. The accompanying vegetables were a little sparse and sad. The broccoli rabe was difficult to eat and I left most of it on my plate.
I will go back to Volterra. Would love it if they had a gluten free bread option for table sharing and the Panzanella. I understand this is a challenge for restaurants, but gluten free folks would love it!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, crowded diningThe food was outstanding, from the appetizers to the two excellent pasta dishes we enjoyed. The spot is vibrant - and not necessarily in a negative way. Just be prepared for tables situated very tightly together - we had conversations with tables on both sides of us because you can't help but hear everyone else's conversations - you're packed in that closely. But it makes for a fun, trendy experience if you like that atmosphere. We arrived at 8, and the servers were doing all they could to keep pace. Ours was good, but clearly had too many tables at the time. Once it calmed down a bit, he was able to give us better service.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA Taste of Italy in KirklandDuring our lovely meal my husband and I were reminded of our trips to Italy. Authentic Super Tuscan wines and well prepared Italian fare brought back fond memories .5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy yummyHad an amazing meal for dinner! The polenta was to die for5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner with friendsWe have been to Volterra - Kirkland several times and this time did not disappoint. The Wild Boar Tenderloin was fantastic, as usual! The service was exceptional - just the right amount of checking in at the table. The restaurant design is modern, open - the only 'issue' is it is pretty loud on a Friday night at dinner. We did happen to be sitting near the open cooking area, which is cool, but probably contributed to the noise. Overall, we love Volterra and will be back again!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice dinner at Volterra.Very nice dinner at Volterra. Attentive staff and delicious food. Otherwise, the service was great as was the food.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ambienceTrue Italian cuisine. Incredible service, very attentive but not intrusive. The oil soup definitely should be tasted!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find in KirklandThey have fresh Gluten Free pasta. I was in Kirkland for a work even on my birthday and found this restaurant that was nearby the hotel. Someone in the comments I read said that they made excellent gluten free pasta. Which was like a birthday present in itself for me so that's where I booked. It was true - the gf pasta was amazing! The waiter was super friendly (ok a bit over the top but still - he made this a great birthday night). Try it if you're in the area!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were greated very warmlyWe were greated very warmly when we came in the door and seated promptly. Our server (Jason) was outstanding! He knew everything on the menu and was able to tell us about each wine we asked for. The head chef was not there that night but the other chef (Cory) incharge that night was outstanding!Everything was beautifully plated and very tasty. The demi sauces were right on the mark and the food perfectly cooked. (We had apps, salad, crab ravioli & wild boar. Most times you can have a great night out if the service/atmosphere are good and the food is ok. But, this place had it all right down to the last detail and with each mouthwatering bite. I can not say enough about that young chef and how outstanding he was & how wonderful our server was4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHeavenfor a gluten free foodieWe celebrated my husbands birthday here, mostly for the house made gluten free pasta. We were both thrilled with the service and the food, top notch4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the best waiter EVER.We had the best waiter EVER. I wish I had remembered his name, he went above and beyond. Every item was delicious and we will be back!!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food EastsideThis is the best restaurant east of Seattle. The food is as good as their Ballard location. Everyone I have taken there has returned on their own and thanked me for introducing them to Volterra.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBetween the 3 of us, we triedBetween the 3 of us, we tried most of the selections for Restaurant Week lunch. We each loved our selections. Service was also great. Friendly greeter, friendly, attentive wait staff.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMVolterra: Not just in SeattleMy girlfriend and I went there for Seattle Restaurant Week and would definitely go back again. We both started with the Limoncello Rosemary Drop; it was delicious to that last drop. First course: Insalata di Bietole, a beautiful beet and arugula salad with a light dressing. Entree: Zuppa di Pesce had a lot of fresh seafood in a savory broth; it came with two slices of Tuscan bread with a saffron aioli smear. Dessert: Tiramisu - It was light but not overly strong or sweet. It was crowded but still roomy enough that your conversations were private. There was a good mix between families, couples, friends, and co-workers. The service was prompt and the servers were knowledgeable. I glad that Volterra has an Eastside location.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had been to the BallardWe had been to the Ballard Volterra but this was our 1st time at the Kirkland location. The ambiance is more modern than Ballard, but the food and service was just as good. The only negative is that the tables are so close together it's hard to have a conversation without the neighboring tables over-hearing.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and excellent service.Good food and excellent service. Not exactly kid friendly unless your child is a more adventurous eater, but the waiter we had was particularly attentive to the 11 and 13 year old at our table. That impressed me! Also, we were there during the Seattle Restaurant week and the 3 course specials were a great value - I was pleasantly surprised! Wine list is very Italian Centric and had some good values.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I went to theMy friend and I went to the "Seattle Restaurants week" event for Sunday lunch.
Those were one of best 3 course meals around here. The mushroom pasta was so yummy!! I posted on it to my Face Book, so some friends are already there. We will be back sometime soon!!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful surprise in KirklandIn a word: awesome! I'm a snob when it comes to Italian food... and often the places that rate highly in reviews, well, I just don't like them. So when Volterra was reviewed well, I was skeptical. I had no reason to be in this case, because the food was fantastic. From the warm potato salad, to the tenderloin, to a yummy Tiramisu... it was delicious. I figured I'd have to skip the "dine around Seattle" specials, but again, I was surprised. They offered some of their nicest dishes on the special. Service was also quite good. Although the wine list wasn't enormous, they had some nice selections of Antinori for reasonable prices. My only complaint is that I had to refill my own wine glass.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was superb with greatThe food was superb with great pasta, sauces and dessert. The seating is oriented to 2s and 4s with tables close together. Service was very good. Our waitress was appropriately solicitous. The cannelloni is super. Noise was high but our neighboring tables had friendly people.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot in downtown Kirkland.Great spot in downtown Kirkland. Always seems to be busy, which is a good sign. Beet salad is very good as is the asparagus appetizer. Seafood stew was very tasty. We had a nice quiet table off in the corner.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat addition to the East side!My family and I went to Volterra for Restaurant Week. The service was good but not stifling. It's a cute spot and a great addition to the East Side. We took our 7 year old son and he very much enjoyed his meal (the beef tenderloin) and went nuts over the fennel salt that is served with the bread and olive oil.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMJust a wonderful experience!Just a wonderful experience! Everything about Volterra was well done from the "just friendly enough" wait person to the well prepared dinners. I always order chicken at restaurants and my chicken at Volterra was among the best.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall great time and hope to retuVolterra has been on our list for a while and it was nice to finally find the time to visit. Overall very good, we were seated immediately and the service was good. The wild boar tenderloin and the fish special were excellent. Nice romantic setting and although close to other dinners it seemed to work very well.
Overall great time and hope to return soon.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food as always! SOGreat food as always! SO glad you came to Kirkland.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Italian food, but notGood Italian food, but not inspiring. The restaurant itself is very nice and the staff friendly and attentive.
For appetizers, the warm chickory and anchovies were excellent. The warm potato and onion salad was, well, potato salad -- fine but not interesting. The pasta with duck ragu had excellent house-made pasta, but it was drowning in tomato sauce and the meat was non-descript. The risotto with sausage was very well cooked (not easy to do); the sauce was good, but weakly flavored. The panforte with vinsanto is a hard fruit & nut cake that can be dipped in the wine. Again, it was fine, but not very interesting. Overall, a good meal in all respects, but missing the creative edge that makes for a very good one.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFound this gem on Google underFound this gem on Google under Italian restaurants Kirkland, Wa. Though when asked where they got the wild boar, we were told from a farm on Texas. Well, I guess anything from Texas is wild.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMYum!We really enjoyed ourselves last night. Our Waitress Rachael was adorable and very attentive. The food was delicious and quite authentic. When you go make sure to try the pollenta and their yummy homemade salts. We will go agin and maybe try their other location in Ballard3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed the Volterra RedWe enjoyed the Volterra Red wine and had a wonderful experience during Dine Around Seattle promotion. All the food was delicious and inventive. The restaurant was energetic, but not too noisy to enjoy date night dinner conversation. The only thing we'd change, is to make the 2 top tables not so wide to talk across. When we looked into each other's eyes, we were a little far apart.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for lunch on DineWe went for lunch on Dine Around. I likeNew spot in Kirkland. I like it better than their Ballard spot. It's chic and modern. Good food, esp good deal for $15 3-course lunch during promos. I went with friends and sampled different apps, entrees and deserts. Every dish was good to great.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to Volterra The menu is Tuscan oriented with considerable variety. The soup, the puche and the rabbit were all excellent. The wine list is extensive but over priced. Wine by the glass selections are limited and pricy. The space is a bit stark and cold. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable and orders came promptly. This may sound like a so so review but overall we found Volterra very good and worth a return visit.12/14/2012 12:00:00 AM
