  • "Great food, great device, great wines and drinks. The pork cheeks were amazing."

  • "Took my wife to Volterra for date night.... We truly enjoyed ourselves as well as the whole dinning experience. We live in Kirkland and will deffently be returning!"

  • "Rather disappointing overall. A good wine list and good desserts were its saving graces. The eggplant raviolis were too chewy and the sauce had way too much garlic. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box. The main courses came were over sauced. This is not by any stretch of the imagination a Restaurant worthy of a Tuscan name, sorry to say. Waitstaff was nice."

  • "Went to dinner with friends Monday evening and ordered the Mahi off the special menu. It was not good. Very fishy tasting which means it was not fresh. If I was with my family, I would have sent it back. My beet salad was yummy and the gelato dessert we had was also very good. Should have stuck with Anthony Bourdain's advice to never eat seafood at a restaurant on a Monday, but I expected more from Volterra."

  • "This is an exceptional Italian restaurant. The menu, service, wine list, ambience and all around experience is excellent."

  • "I expected a little better, especially more Italian entrees.."

  • "Well, the last time the pork jowl pasta was a little truffley for my tastes, and the server mispronounced mascarpone, but aside from that everything was amazing as usual."

  • "I have been to this restaurant 4 times in the last 6months, big group, small group, twice with just my boyfriend. Love the location and the food. The service staff makes it difficult to want to go back. We had a Greek guy once, a Hispanic guy another time, a woman once who was probably the better of all. They are void of any personality, take your order (as quickly as possible, you'd think they are being timed). They drop off your food and you never see them again. You have to flag a couple of people to flag your waiter so you can pay your bill and go home.... Service gets a big huge F. Too bad, because the food is great."

  • "My husband and I dined there this past week. The service was excellent and it was a nice quiet place to enjoy a night out. I was able to get a small portion of pasta and then a salad, too. It spicy Italian pasta dish was excellent. My husband had a steak dish and it was excellent, too. We will definitely be returning."

  • "I have been to Volterra several times, both at the Ballard and the Kirkland locations. Very nice atmosphere, superb food, nice wine list and a fun place. Good for a business meeting (on a weeknight) as well as a romantic dinner or with a larger group. The food is superb - northern Italian, innovative, great choices."

  • "I took my friend for her birthday and we had a very nice dinner. Each of us had the wild boar and it was delicious. The sauce was perfect. We thought the food was outstanding."

  • "This was our second visit and brought along our out of town visitor. Again great service and great food. Although I enjoyed the recommended pork cheeks I still prefer the spicy sausage pasta dish from the first visit"

  • "We had visited Volterra when it first opened and were a little disappointed with this location compared to Ballard but our most recent visit was wonderful. Every dish was outstanding and full of flavor, the service was great as were the cocktails!"

  • "This was my first time there for lunch and i was taken aback by how empty it was. usually for dinner it is impossible to get a table. they don't have a brunch menu, just a regular lunch menu but if you have been having a hard time getting a table for dinner, definitely give it a try at lunch. You will not be disappointed."

  • "The evening started slowly because our server did not notice us for about 10 minutes. A different (super nice) server noticed us - took our drink orders and sent our server over. The tables are close together so private conversations are difficult. The food more than made up for everything though! The asparagus was perfect - the mashed potatoes were amazing - the New York strip was cooked just right and the gorgonzola/prosciutto/onion topping was very flavorful! We will definitely go back. "

  • "We were there on a Friday night, they were busy and it was noisy. Not too noisy, but be aware it's not a quiet romantic spot. Our food was good, we had the cauliflower with fontina cream sauce (yum), the beet salad (also yum) and I had the wild boar which was fabulous. My friend had the special pasta which was good but not great. Our entrees took a LONG time to come out, a surprisingly long time. But since we'd had an appetizer and a salad (and the complimentary bread) and were busy chatting we really didn't care. And our entrees came out hot, which is key. "

  • "Always great food. The mashed potatoes are AMAZING! Beef tenderloin...perfection."

  • "Brought business colleagues here because of past great experiences. All was as great as remembered with exception of Linguine with Clams. Disappointed with dryness and unbalanced seasonings. One guest had signature wild boar and it was great. Just an off night on the pasta. Will go back, but maybe choose something else. Roasted beet salad fantastic! Service by Seth was attentive and patient. Overall a good evening."

  • "Mothers day at Volterra in Ballard was HORRIBLE in every way. It took guts to take friend to the Kirkland Voltera but it was great. Must be a result of the different management."

  • "The crab ravioli was dissapointing but the rest of the meal was great!"

  • "So, we made reservations but our friends got there a few minutes before we did. They were offered the choice between several tables but ended up choosing the bar side. That was a mistake. The last time we were at the restaurant side, and both the food and service were great ! This time, the bartender was multi-tasking as a waiter and bartender. The service was quite odd. He must not have heard me order a Negroni, even though he had a pad to write everything down. Sort of deteriorated from there. The food saved the day."

  • "We've been to Volterra at least five times in the last 18 months. Whether it's in the bar or in the restaurant, the food is exceptional. The cocktails are inventive, fresh and elegant. It's comfortable. We have every reason to keep going back. p.s. the lamb meatballs are to die for."

  • "We went to celebrate Mother's day and our son's visit departure. We previously had dinner and lunch here. All our meals have been excellent for presentation, taste and ambiance. The service was very attentive and helpful. We have nothing but compliments to the staff and chef. The prices are moderate and fair for the quality of the meal."

  • "Great spot in busy downtown Kirkland for Italian. Homemade pastas, varied menu, and above par, excellent service. Will definitely return for the clams/sausage appetizer alone ! Only complaint is the tightly packed in tables which make conversation and comfort difficult. "

  • "My family took me to Volterra for Mother's Day. Delicious food! I enjoyed the brunch eggs full of mushrooms. The desserts were delightful. Light and wonderful Tiramisu, not too sweet. The Lemon Tart was nice, but had chocolate in it, didn't seem to blend as well. The chicken on the caesar salad was reported to be the best chicken ever and the salad was enjoyed also. The Dungeness crab ravioli was reported to be "the best meal I've ever had" by one of our party. Waitstaff was attentive, but not hovering. Attractive setting."

  • "Our first time here... not very many good Italian places in the area but new we found this one! Awesome food. Great service, kid-friendly, "
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "and this is a great place to do that. Quite often we will sit in the bar area and order three or four appetizers with our cocktails. This past Mother's Day we had the sausage and mussels in a spicy tomato broth, the cauliflower fonduta and the lamb meatballs on creamy spaghetti squash. And then we had the tiramisu. DELISH! "

  • "It was my first time there and we were a party of 4. It was extremely noisy so I could barely hear what my friends were saying across the table. Also, one of us ordered the wild boar which came very undercooked-raw and then came back overcooked. I've been to the Ballard location a couple of time and enjoyed it. Not sure I will go back to the Kirkland location."

  • "The Eastside needs a good Italian restaurant, and I was hoping this was would be the one ... but was disappointed. The salads were sub-par ... ingredients were poorly presented and were of low quality. The pasta dishes were also good, but nothing to get excited about."

  • "The salads were horrible - stale slimy greens from a an outdated bag"

  • "I hadn't seen my friend in 2 years and we had an almost 4-hour dinner on a Thursday night. The staff just let us sit and talk long after we'd finished dinner and that made a big difference to our get-together. "

  • "My eastside lunch favorite spot! Food is always fantastic. The crab ravioli is out of this world!"

  • "Our second visit to Volterra. The food & service are excellent! "

  • "I took my friend to Volterra Kirkland to celebrate her 64th Birthday. We were both very impressed with the wine, food and service. Our waiter made what we considered excellent wine suggestions that suited our taste. We enjoyed crab ravioli and baked halibut for entrees that were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed the lovely salads(Poached Pear and the House salad)and found the greens fresh and crisp and the dressing superb. We finished our meal with excellent coffee both regular and decaf. The staff on Saturday evening April 26th were friendly, helpful and most courteous. I don't recall the name of our waiter nor the gracious lady who was the hostess, however they both were attentive and caring. Thank you."

  • "I had a wonderful experience at Volterra in Kirkland - the staff was very friendly and the food absolutely delicious. My entree (the roasted chicken) was served piping hot and full of flavor. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for those looking for an upscale, fine-dining experience. "

  • "First night out since our baby was born and Voltera didn't disappoint. Amazing food and great service. A bit noisy since the restaurant is small. But a great place for a romantic meal. "

  • "Another wonderful and delicious dining experience at Volterra in Kirkland. It's truly a neighborhood gem! The crab ravioli is a favorite. Very good wines by the glass also."

  • " From the start we were given the benefit of service that is at once attentive yet discreet. We were guided to food and wine choices, with regard to what was truly good, and not necessarily the most expensive. Our experience, was wonderful. "
