VOLTVolt was wonderfulDining at Volt was a treasure that I'll never forget. The service was outstanding as was the food.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMasterful serviceThe food was creative and delicious, but the attention to detail and the exemplary front of house staff made our dining experience exceptional. It was definitely worth the drive from Baltimore.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding ExperienceThis restaurant now has the coveted "Best Ever" in our family. They have thought of every little possible delight to thrill and soothe. Right up there with our experience at Boulevard in San Francisco and Forage in Salt Lake City and Crush in Seattle. Congrats to Volt, I'm glad it's in our backyard. We will be back.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBolt to Volt!Chef Bryan never disappoints! Always one of the best meals ever. Had the new drink--Namaste--with dinner and it was amazing. The beef dish was to die for and the chocolate dessert...well...it's HEAVEN! Truly, my favorite place to dine....EVER!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWorthy of high praiseThis was the second time we went to VOLT - both times to celebrate birthdays. The service is absolutely fantastic, the menu innovative, the wine list matches the fantastic food. It lives up to the hype and is worth the prices for a special occasion. Truly memorable!!!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMVOLT mid-weekMy wife and I decided to see what the fuss and buzz was all about regarding VOLT and Brian Voltaggio. We dined mid-week to have a date night. We had 7PM reservations. From the moment we were greeted at the door, escorted to our table and presented the Cocktail list we knew it was all about the food and beverage. The Spirits list is inventive and the recommendations by our server, Frank were on the money. Love the breadsticks! We opted for the a-la-carte menu because I wanted the Rabbit Entre. Each dish was creative, delicious and inspired. The timing of service was also sublime. Our meal was expertly complimented with wine selections under the eye of Wine Director, TJ . We are coming back and the Chef's Tasting menu is next on our list6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the effort...Although the amuse bouche (a beet macaroon filled with foie gras mousse) was not a fan favorite, the rest of the meal was very well received. Overall each plate was interesting and flavorful, if not at times a little over-complicated (morel mushrooms don't really need seaweed enhancements). My pork belly was a sensational success. I had a rabbit plate cooked 3 ways in croquettes, deep fried, and in a compote; all fabulous. I had a taste of the lamb dish, which was, as cliche as it sounds, cooked to perfection. Dessert included chocolate with a hazelnut ice cream and a slightly toasted marshmallow spread. Our waitress, Rachel, was a gem of intelligence and wit. It is best to expect to do 3-4 plates to be satiated at the end of the meal.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative DishesWe enjoyed the creative dishes at Volt for brunch. We made a reservation on open table for noon but our table wasn't reat We went to the bar and ordered the "airmail" drink. It was perfect. We did the 3 course entrees and had a side of donuts. Next time we will skip the donuts. They were dry and didn't taste fresh. Everything else was spot on.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFine Tasting Touch of ClassThis was our first visit to VOLT although we have come to Frederick for the food on numerous occasions. We will certainly return more often, and VOLT is motivation #1. We had heard many good things but were surprised by the degree of sophistication and contemporary style. Presentation combines strut with easy-going warmth. Great, youthful staff, as charming as they are knowledgeable. Unpretentious bar with verve and sparkle. We really enjoyed this evening.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodie Paradise! My husband and I visited this unique restaurant to celebrate our 21st Wedding Anniversary. As huge fans of the show "Top Chef" we were extremely excited to check out one of our favorite contestant's establishment. We were not disappointed. The wine list was more like a book, with a professional wine director available to help you with an appropriate selection. All of the courses were unique and fresh-tasting, and the presentation was not a disappointment either. Highly recommend for a special occasion, since it is very pricey but well worth it!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique Dining ExperienceThe unexpected combinations are unlike any other dining experience I have ever had. The atmosphere, although modern, is warm and inviting. The food surprises you and keeps you coming back to the plate until you look down and your plate is completely clean :)5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother wonderful dinnerOne guest had courses of Morel Mushrooms, Young Carrots, Halibut, and Chocolate Marshmallow, while my courses were Green Strawberries, Soft Crab, Halibut, and Meyer Lemon. The Green Strawberries were fresh and interesting - the favorite of the initial courses. The soft crab is a favorite whenever Volt has them on the menu. The halibut is the best around - Volt consistently prepares the fish just right - never under or overcooked - and fresh tasting. The chocolate marshmallow was our favorite dessert of the two. Also have to mention the brioche in the bread basket - there was a connection to a brewery and while I don't remember the details, the bread was superb and created multiple return requests for the bread basket. Great all around5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMUnbelievable MealThis had to be one of the best meals of my life. outstanding service, food, decor etc. everything was perfect from start to finish. Much better than INK!!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMlived up to hypeGreat food..attentive service..great decor..earthy..sophisticated well-thought out menu..it was a pleasure..Joe our server was excellent. .5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZINGTook girlfriend to Volt for her birthday. Absolutely amazing experience. From the minute we walked in the door until we walked out the entire experience was great. Our waitstaff was perfect. There only when you need them. Friendly, personable.
We each had the 6 course tasting menu's. They were incredible. Beautifully plated, great flavors.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI was in Frederick for onlyI was in Frederick for only a day for work. I didn't want to fight rush hour traffic back to DC so, at a friend's suggestion, made an early dinner reservation at Volt. Needless to say, I was not disappointed! The service was fantastic (I sensed they knew it was my first time) and all courses I ordered were delicious! The goat cheese (desert) was one of the best dishes I ever tasted! If ever in Frederick again, I will return! Next stop is Range in DC.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectCan not say one bad thing about this place except I wish it was closer to where I live.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZING!!!The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was fresh, local, unique and prepared with such craft and love. Great flavors, beautiful presentations and just an overall amazing experience. The service was 5 stars. Everyone was attentive to our needs (water refills, silverware replacement with each course, wine recommendations from the sommelier). We were even told happy anniversary upon arrival, which they only knew because when I confirmed the reservation I said we were excited to celebrate our anniversary at Volt. This showed me that the reservation team is organized and considerate. Overall, just a great experience. It was absolutely worth every dollar spent. We will go back, definitely for another special occasion, and hopefully sooner.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing RestaurantMy wife and I went to Volt for our 1st anniversary. Both the food and service are amazing. It is quite the foodie experience and I would actually say worth the price to do it once or twice for special occasions. Highly recommend trying some of their cocktails as they are excellent as well.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Service and Feast for EyesWhat a treat. Volt has sleek modern decor. The food presentations are gorgeous. Service is the best I've ever had. The quality and freshness of the food was excellent. However, some of the flavor profiles were a bit outside of the norm. A few were wonderful. Others missed the mark. I'm glad we had the Volt experience. Would I go bacK? Probably not.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner TheaterWe enjoyed a wonderful evening at VOLT. The service was outstanding and the meal was perfectly paced so that we could enjoy each course and never felt rushed. The food was a little inconsistent, but never bad. A few courses were fantastic, being inventive, unique and delicious. Others were a little boring and not particularly as tasty, most notably the halibut dish. The beet sorbet was interesting, but not particularly satisfying as a dessert. But overall, VOLT was a pleasure.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat's not to love?My two girlfriends and I had never been to VOLT before. Living in Virginia it was easiest to go for "Brunch" on the weekend in terms of getting a reservation. We went all in and had the Chef's Tasting Menu with wine pairing. What makes restaurants great is when they can make the meal into an experience - so everything from start to finish is a part of what makes it great. VOLT achieves this. But let's be honest, it's mostly about the food. The presentation and plating of everything was perfect. The five course tasting menu did not leave us overly full. The wine pairings themselves almost stole the show given how well they did, in fact, pair with the food. The food was complex and flavorful -I just could have done without squid ink pasta.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe cod cheeks were awesome! The cod cheeks were awesome! Everything was amazing as well, although the calamari bolognese was not that appetizing.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I celebratedMy husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary with Volt and were extremely happy with our choice! The food here is excellent. The sommelier picked the absolute perfect wine to help us celebrate this special occasion. What a gem for Fredrick. We will definitely be returning customers. Highly recommended...at least once!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good as they sayWhat a wonderful dining experience. The service was fabulous and the sommelier knowledgeable and fun to talk to. We went in wondering if Volt would live up to expectations, and it more than did. I would come back for an everyday experience. Don't save it for just something special.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthdays @ VoltWe were a party of 4 celebrating 3 birthdays. We chose the tasting menu and were continua;;y surprised and enlightened with the preparations. everything was perfectly served and prepared, the food was hot and tasty with just the right amount of spices and wonderful aromas. we all were very happy with every aspect of the evening.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique!Superb wait staff actually outshine a stellar and creative menu! Great experience and we would certainly dine there again and recommend it without hesitation!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experienceBrian Voltaggio has created a great restaurant in the heart of dynamic Frederick. The tasting menu is innovative and exciting. The service is impeccable. This is clearly a destination restaurant, worthy of the trip. Hig praise to the chef/owner and his staff.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMnice restaurantNice service... let us try some wines.
Nice dinner set.
Nice courses, good looking and stylish.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique food aand great service!Had a great experience. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. Really enjoyed the whole experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFinally "Volted"I had heard that Volt was an "different experience" and the person who recommended the restaurant told me that I would "savor the flavors" and not forget the dishes that I enjoyed. This turned out to be true!
Loved the Calamari Bolognese and the Lamb! I don't usually eat Rolls or biscuits but the Biscuits were yummy......and the Liver and Beets "shot" to get things started were awesome! Loved my Rhubarb dessert but by that time I really was full and the little "breakfast coffee cake take away" took me away the next day..delicious!
Everyone was gracious and me and my daughters had a great time!
I recommend if you don't live in Frederick, plan to spend the night so you can hold on to the experience rather than truck 40 miles home.........5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite restaurant everHard to imagine a better dining experience. Great food, better service. Wonderful! (We enjoyed sitting by the kitchen. Added to the fun!)5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food...as alwaysI Come here as often as I can. Work is hard to get away from. Always great. Highlights this time: fluke w grapefruit (so good we ordered another round of fluke after our entrees) Myer lemon dessert, also ate 2 rounds, and I dont like lemon desserts.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA SPECIAL VOLTFood was spectacular. Service was as good as it gets. Staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLives up to the hypeVolt has been on my list for awhile, and was well worth the wait. The food was fantastic. Each dish was a real creative piece, which not only was interesting conceptually and visually, but also tasted very good. Drinks were sometimes a bit slow to come up, but everything else was perfect.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the price!Plan ahead when your eating at volt - dont just get and entree, if you're going a la carte try a few things - everything is wonderful! Also the cocktails were fantastic. Definitely had a great evening. Also the restaraunt is quite comfortable and the staff is fantastic!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial place for special occasionsOur second visit and just as fantastic as the first.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMEdible ArtVolt sets the bar very high in terms of original ingredients and presentation.
The artistic way the food is displayed is one of my favorite things about going to Volt.
And the daring flavor combinations are a delight for the adventurous palette.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA dining experience!I went into the evening prepared to be finding a pretentious dining experience! Not, so! First of all, the wine list was truly expensive. My husband and I sat at a bar across the street and I had my cocktails their for the price of 1/2 of my glass of wine later with my meal. For me, that was great. We ate a la carte and although the portions are small, we were happy with the creative blending of appetizers and entrees. Volt gives you a free mini appetizer, wonderful bread and a few bites of savory desserts. We would return but not soon!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat gourmet food!My husband and I went to Volt on our second anniversary and loved the food and the service! We went with the A la Carte option and ordered exactly what we wanted. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. They have a pretty impressive wine list. Only dish I wasn't very impressed by was the Lamb course. It was ordered medium rare but the lamb came out pretty chewy, not as tender as one would expect. They did give us a free starter bites of chef's compliment and finished off with a free small plate of desserts which included couple really delicious truffles, 1 mini shortcake, and 1 green apple flavored candy/jello type of dessert. Yummy all around. Will try table 21 next time.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMVOLT was superb!VOLT exceed our expectations (which were high). Tasting menu offers right sized portions of wonderfully flavored and creative dishes. Service was attentive, not pretentious at all. Plus we were served small appetizers & desserts and a small coffee cake to take home in addition to the 6 course menu.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFINE DINING AT ITS BESTThe food here is great! Lovely small portion tasting plates, with interesting gourmet preparation. I recommend the flake and also the corn dumplings. I also encourage asking lots of question -- some of the dishes were not exactly as described. The morel mushrooms, for example, were served over oatmeal, loved the mushrooms, but had to pick them out of the oatmeal, which I dislike. In fairness, I was LATER told I could have sent the dish back. Impeccable service.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food, service andFabulous food, service and overall experience! This is the place for other restaurants to try to top.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVOLT foreverI was expecting the food to be outstanding - which it was - but I believe the service might be even better. From the moment you enter the front door until you depart, the customer is very important. We had the 5 course menu and enjoyed 4 courses immensely. The one course we didn't particular like was just a personal preference for 2 of us. The service staff noticed right away and asked if they could get us a replacement. We will be coming back. Our waiter also was kind enough to take us to the kitchen so we could meet the chef Bryan V and have our picture taken with him. Graciousness is at the top of their list to take care of their customers and they do it with flying colors!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVolt DinnerOur 5th meal at Volt, 2 were table 21. The service was outstanding again. We felt the food although excellent, was more inventive than tasty. Did not have a single dish our party of four felt was a memorable(best meal of the year). For trying imaginative, enormously complicated dishes you could never make yourself, Volt is it. We felt taste was sacrificed for inventiveness. Our wine was outstanding; and sommelier informative - but almost no moderately priced wines on the list. A final note on the VEG tasting. It's $95- you can order 4 of the courses on the a la carte menu for $49. Hard to believe the sunchoke and iceberg lettuce servings come to $46. You shouldn't pay more per dish on the tasting than a la carte.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding RestaurantThis was an incredible dining experience. The service was first rate; dishes were placed on the table French style. The servers were exceptionally professional. The food was very "gourmet." Every dish was an unusual preparation of familiar foods presented in unfamiliar ways.....very delicious!! After several courses, Volt did not stop there! Truffles and other goodies were brought out. To top it off, we were given mini coffee cakes to take home for the next day's breakfast. This restaurant is an evening of pure food heaven!!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Volt ExperienceMy wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Volt. The staff was friendly and explained
The way the food was paired. While I am not into many of the food selections, I enjoyed
Each dish, and the combinations.
One thing you do have to be prepared to do is spend a good bit of money.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife & I drive from DCMy wife & I drive from DC to Fredric to dine at Volt. Having dined at the best restaurants throughout Europe & Asia, Volt clearly rates in the top tier of world class service, innovation & quality. From the executive chef to the front staff, Volt is staffed with genuinely nice people who excel at their trade.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur best visit to Volt yet.Our best visit to Volt yet. In the past the wait between courses was a bit long, but not this time. The food was delicious and the service impeccable!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFrederick GemThis is our first experience having Brunch at Volt and it was delicious. Kudos to the entire Volt team for great food and service. Hubby and I especially love our take-home mini cakes...they go well with coffee a/o tea the next morning.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
