VOLTnice restaurantNice service... let us try some wines.
Nice dinner set.
Nice courses, good looking and stylish.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experienceBrian Voltaggio has created a great restaurant in the heart of dynamic Frederick. The tasting menu is innovative and exciting. The service is impeccable. This is clearly a destination restaurant, worthy of the trip. Hig praise to the chef/owner and his staff.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique food aand great service!Had a great experience. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. Really enjoyed the whole experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFinally "Volted"I had heard that Volt was an "different experience" and the person who recommended the restaurant told me that I would "savor the flavors" and not forget the dishes that I enjoyed. This turned out to be true!
Loved the Calamari Bolognese and the Lamb! I don't usually eat Rolls or biscuits but the Biscuits were yummy......and the Liver and Beets "shot" to get things started were awesome! Loved my Rhubarb dessert but by that time I really was full and the little "breakfast coffee cake take away" took me away the next day..delicious!
Everyone was gracious and me and my daughters had a great time!
I recommend if you don't live in Frederick, plan to spend the night so you can hold on to the experience rather than truck 40 miles home.........5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite restaurant everHard to imagine a better dining experience. Great food, better service. Wonderful! (We enjoyed sitting by the kitchen. Added to the fun!)5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the price!Plan ahead when your eating at volt - dont just get and entree, if you're going a la carte try a few things - everything is wonderful! Also the cocktails were fantastic. Definitely had a great evening. Also the restaraunt is quite comfortable and the staff is fantastic!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA SPECIAL VOLTFood was spectacular. Service was as good as it gets. Staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLives up to the hypeVolt has been on my list for awhile, and was well worth the wait. The food was fantastic. Each dish was a real creative piece, which not only was interesting conceptually and visually, but also tasted very good. Drinks were sometimes a bit slow to come up, but everything else was perfect.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial place for special occasionsOur second visit and just as fantastic as the first.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMEdible ArtVolt sets the bar very high in terms of original ingredients and presentation.
The artistic way the food is displayed is one of my favorite things about going to Volt.
And the daring flavor combinations are a delight for the adventurous palette.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA dining experience!I went into the evening prepared to be finding a pretentious dining experience! Not, so! First of all, the wine list was truly expensive. My husband and I sat at a bar across the street and I had my cocktails their for the price of 1/2 of my glass of wine later with my meal. For me, that was great. We ate a la carte and although the portions are small, we were happy with the creative blending of appetizers and entrees. Volt gives you a free mini appetizer, wonderful bread and a few bites of savory desserts. We would return but not soon!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat gourmet food!My husband and I went to Volt on our second anniversary and loved the food and the service! We went with the A la Carte option and ordered exactly what we wanted. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. They have a pretty impressive wine list. Only dish I wasn't very impressed by was the Lamb course. It was ordered medium rare but the lamb came out pretty chewy, not as tender as one would expect. They did give us a free starter bites of chef's compliment and finished off with a free small plate of desserts which included couple really delicious truffles, 1 mini shortcake, and 1 green apple flavored candy/jello type of dessert. Yummy all around. Will try table 21 next time.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMVOLT was superb!VOLT exceed our expectations (which were high). Tasting menu offers right sized portions of wonderfully flavored and creative dishes. Service was attentive, not pretentious at all. Plus we were served small appetizers & desserts and a small coffee cake to take home in addition to the 6 course menu.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFINE DINING AT ITS BESTThe food here is great! Lovely small portion tasting plates, with interesting gourmet preparation. I recommend the flake and also the corn dumplings. I also encourage asking lots of question -- some of the dishes were not exactly as described. The morel mushrooms, for example, were served over oatmeal, loved the mushrooms, but had to pick them out of the oatmeal, which I dislike. In fairness, I was LATER told I could have sent the dish back. Impeccable service.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food, service andFabulous food, service and overall experience! This is the place for other restaurants to try to top.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVOLT foreverI was expecting the food to be outstanding - which it was - but I believe the service might be even better. From the moment you enter the front door until you depart, the customer is very important. We had the 5 course menu and enjoyed 4 courses immensely. The one course we didn't particular like was just a personal preference for 2 of us. The service staff noticed right away and asked if they could get us a replacement. We will be coming back. Our waiter also was kind enough to take us to the kitchen so we could meet the chef Bryan V and have our picture taken with him. Graciousness is at the top of their list to take care of their customers and they do it with flying colors!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVolt DinnerOur 5th meal at Volt, 2 were table 21. The service was outstanding again. We felt the food although excellent, was more inventive than tasty. Did not have a single dish our party of four felt was a memorable(best meal of the year). For trying imaginative, enormously complicated dishes you could never make yourself, Volt is it. We felt taste was sacrificed for inventiveness. Our wine was outstanding; and sommelier informative - but almost no moderately priced wines on the list. A final note on the VEG tasting. It's $95- you can order 4 of the courses on the a la carte menu for $49. Hard to believe the sunchoke and iceberg lettuce servings come to $46. You shouldn't pay more per dish on the tasting than a la carte.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding RestaurantThis was an incredible dining experience. The service was first rate; dishes were placed on the table French style. The servers were exceptionally professional. The food was very "gourmet." Every dish was an unusual preparation of familiar foods presented in unfamiliar ways.....very delicious!! After several courses, Volt did not stop there! Truffles and other goodies were brought out. To top it off, we were given mini coffee cakes to take home for the next day's breakfast. This restaurant is an evening of pure food heaven!!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Volt ExperienceMy wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Volt. The staff was friendly and explained
The way the food was paired. While I am not into many of the food selections, I enjoyed
Each dish, and the combinations.
One thing you do have to be prepared to do is spend a good bit of money.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife & I drive from DCMy wife & I drive from DC to Fredric to dine at Volt. Having dined at the best restaurants throughout Europe & Asia, Volt clearly rates in the top tier of world class service, innovation & quality. From the executive chef to the front staff, Volt is staffed with genuinely nice people who excel at their trade.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur best visit to Volt yet.Our best visit to Volt yet. In the past the wait between courses was a bit long, but not this time. The food was delicious and the service impeccable!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFrederick GemThis is our first experience having Brunch at Volt and it was delicious. Kudos to the entire Volt team for great food and service. Hubby and I especially love our take-home mini cakes...they go well with coffee a/o tea the next morning.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food with outstandingWonderful food with outstanding service. The staff was very helpful and prompt. The staff made sure every course was explained and everything was to our liking. A terrific place for a special occasion.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing and theThe food was amazing and the service was impeccable...The Voltaggio clan has hit a home run with this Frederick Gem.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything we ate was amazing.Everything we ate was amazing. Dining at Volt ia more of an event than just a meal; much like an experience at The Charleston. Truly a delicious experience.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTables too close togetherTables too close together which made conversation difficult. The conversation at the other tables made it difficult to hear the servers as well as our own.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, excellentVery good food, excellent service. Only real dissapointment is that Volt really dosn't have very many top shelf spirits, which is suprising given that you typically are not going to walk out with a bill less rhan $100 a head just for food.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVariety at VoltVolt lives up to its reputation. The choices provided on the menu were divided into an a la carte and a 6-course tasting menu. There is also an optional wine pairing. Although they prefer it when each guest orders from the same menu, they accept orders from both. Each dish played with a variety of complex flavors, and they were all balanced well. Although I was prepared to have revolving plates and table settings, the constant relay required full time and attention on your food and often distracted the flow of conversation with my date. Therefore, I would recommend Volt for a celebratory occasion, but not necessarily an intimate or romantic one.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! Great food, wine,Amazing! Great food, wine, and fairly priced! Go Voltaggio brothers and staff!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe heard great things aboutWe heard great things about VOLT and it lived up to a well deserved reputation. The food was clever and delicious and the service was outstanding.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMfood creative, interesting, food creative, interesting, and excellent. service attentive, albeit affected and a bit too "precious"4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMRemarkableDining at VOLT is to experience another dimension to a culinary experience. Pairings of unexpected flavors that cause reactions like eyes opening wide with surprise, followed by a controlled smile. I could eat like this every day.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGlad We Came, Not Dying To ReturnExcited to finally try Volt after hearing so much hype. Had lovely time, food very good but didn't knock socks off like other comparably priced, comparably fine-food establishments in D.C.&Bethesda. Ordered a la carte; 1 person in our trio didn't want tasting menu. Next time: the tasting! Standouts: breadsticks, spelt roll w/butter, amuse bouche (pork crackle with halibut etc.) were delicious; I asked waiter to surprise me with a refreshing mocktail (i'm pregnant) and he did great (a bright, citrusy creme). I had green strawberries (a highlight), calamari cavatelli (wished it was less smoky, more piquant), cod cheeks (delicious), chocolate mousse (highlight). Loved my friend's corn dumplings. Financier cakes YUM. Service excellent.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of the best restaurantsThis is one of the best restaurants I have been to. The food is innovative as well as excellent tasting. The Meyer lemon dessert is the best I have ever eaten. The chocolate marshmallow, crushed chocolate chip cookie frozen custard, with salted peanuts was fantastic.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fabulous as always.Food was fabulous as always. They've changed their dining format from fixed price back to al a carte designed on a six course format. The only changes we weren't happy about was the scaling back on their baked goods -- only 2 bread selections in their bread basket where as they use to offer 4+/- varieties. They've done away with their coffee menu (they use to offer a selection of coffee varieties but now only offer caffinated or decaf). Those two changes are missed as those were unique offerings that we felt differentiated them from other upscale dining establishments. Too bad.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb! Astonishing combinationsSuperb! Astonishing combinations that worked well on the palate. Ask for a kitchen view seat -- it's a fascinating show.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI enjoyed my experience atI enjoyed my experience at VOLT so much! I really hope to return someday - as soon as I can!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was amazing. More ofFood was amazing. More of an experience than a meal. Cocktails were regrettable, forgettable, and best avoided. Waitstaff is a bit pretentious but they fade into the woodwork quickly.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, great presentation.Good food, great presentation. Prices are great on food, but they make up for it on the wine. Wine list is perfect but I know my wine and this has more than 175% upsell from retail. And even though I was not charged the $25 recorking fee, the mear mention of that after the high priced selection was odd to me. Overall it was very good. Go !4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWorld Class, sophisticated fun!I'd heard great things about Volt but remained unprepared for how exceptional it truly was.
This is simply one of the world's great restaurants.
We're vegetarian and did not want the quantity or expense of the tasting menu, to our disappointment there was only one dish on the a la carte menu which was vegetarian - no problem, however, our (somewhat overly) solicitous waiter conferred with the chef and came back with a sufficient choice of dishes which could be modified without harming the chef's conception.
The food was delicious, interesting, revelatory, and fun - like going to some kind of adult Epicurean amusement park and art museum at the same time without any compromise to culinary and nutritional satisfaction.
Exceptional!!!!!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMy issues were around theMy issues were around the ambiance. The "spot" lights were direct and too bright in our eyes and the tables were very wide, making us farther away from each other than the usual in a restaurant. I found that a bit uncomfortable - but LOVED the food and wait staff was great!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service was excellent.Food and service was excellent. Dinner a little on the pricey side, but it will be an unforgettable experience.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday BrunchWent for a Saturday brunch which is reasonable priced for such a celebrity chef. While some food was outstanding, eg, the lamb, others were mixed. One problem is that it is impossible to predict portion size. The cod =, which was excellently prepared, was only 4 bites while the lamb was a hearty serving that could have been a meal in itself. The service is remarkably professional and attentive without being intrusive. Beware the descriptions and the dishes. Sometimes the leading item was merely a bit of garnish, other times it was the heart of the dish.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome place. A much betterAwesome place. A much better value (though far away) than some comparables such as City Zen. Wine list is great, but with few value priced items.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMYou go to Volt for a veryYou go to Volt for a very unique food experience. The ingredients are fresh, local mostly and organic. There is a magic of mixing ingredients. Presentation, service and knowledge of the servers are outstanding. This was our second time at Volt and it will not be our last.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our first visit andIt was our first visit and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was wonderful. The presents of the oysters and the little individual cake loaves were very special. Thank you.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely fantastic brunchAbsolutely fantastic brunch experience. The restaurant is trendy but not too showy, and made for a pleasant ambiance on a rainy easter day. The brunch is a great deal as for $35 you get your choice of an appetizer, brunch entree, and dessert. This is PLENTY of food, but of course we splurged on the bacon doughnuts and in-house cured bacon. Highlights included the scallops and the chocolate dessert. Te staff doesn't miss a beat- at times though it may seem like there are more staff than guests.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVolt has revamped its menuVolt has revamped its menu and almost all the dishes are new (we are frequent diners there). The new menu, still somewhat evolving, has some amazing dishes. The carrot salad, clam pasta, chicken liver pate are among these. There is also a chicken dish which is similar to one briefly on the bar menu a few years ago which is terrific. Keep up the good work!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Brunch!Brunch was awesome! Bread's were delicious. Drinks were generous and very well mixed. I had the crab ravioli, which was excellent. Maple Bacon Donuts are a must-get if you're there for brunch. Both desserts I tried off the pre-fixe menu were outstanding (and I'm not a huge lover of desserts).3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the first time IThis was the first time I had ever been to Volt. My boyfriend took me there to celebrate my acceptance into my top-choice college, and the entire experience was fantastic. Although it is pricey, it is worth it for a special occasion. You get what you pay for- delicious food presented artistically, commendable and friendly service, and a quiet, warm atmosphere. Although I'm not old enough to take advantage of their extensive selection of wine yet, I could tell that they have a definitely large (and good!) selection of wine and other beverages.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
