  • Bad italian meal!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012

The appetizers were note worthy... A little different italian flair...But the main course, pasta with marinara sauce tasted like sauce from a jar. A very poor tasting jar sauce. The lasagna was not the typical dish... Small and tasteless. The seafood pilau was fishy tasting. Overall our family was not at all impressed or happy with their meals. Over priced and not worth going to....

Excellent Italian food. We were seated promptly, with a window view of the ocean. Even when it gets dark, nice blue lighting feels romantic. I had the veal marsala... Excellent. Nice rich sauce, our pastas were fresh and cooked al dente. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We liked this better than Perla's, which was also very nice. But Voga's was a new favorite!

It was a nice experience. However, a Prefix menu shortens your selections. NO pasta on the prefix menu, shame. Visiting an Italian restaurant and no pasta, risotto, gnocchi on the prefix at least.

Unless you can be guaranteed to have Julio as your server, don't go. We were seated quickly then sat there for 13 minutes without being offered so much as a glass of water. Our server was nowhere to be found. So I flagged down Julio for help and he jumped right in and took over our table even though it was not his station. After we placed our order we noticed two other tables next to us verbally complaining about the lack of attention from their server who was supposed to be ours as well. Those tables had to get up and get a water jug from the water station and serve themselves. At least I knew we weren't alone in our suffering. Julio really stepped up and took good care of us. I found the manager and made sure they knew what was going on.

  • Wonderful Dinner @ Voga

A wonderful twist of creative favors treated my palate @ Voga. Starting with their home made ciabatta bread with white bean and truffle dip, the night progressed to a bottle of a rosè Spumante along with a pizzeta with lomo, sweet plantains, mushrooms and smoked mozzarella. Superb. Then, a great chunk of ossobucco with green pea chicharrón (fried pork rinds) risotto. My partner had the "pollo asado" (roasted chicken) smoked mozzarella cannelloni and her eyes rolled back with delight. Don't miss it if you visit San Juan. Service was exceptionally courteous but not always timely. This should not stop you for trying this neighborhood gem @ La Concha Hotel.

A nice surprise to have such a wonderful restaurant located in our hotel. The salads were fresh and creative and the pasta good with such a beautiful presentation. The only disappointment was that we didnt discover this restaurant on our first visit to the hotel in Feb. Will back in the fall!

We don't normally dine at hotel restaurants but chose Voga on our last night in PR because we were told about the ocean view (and for convenience) Unfortunately they do not seat anyone outdoors on the oceanside, only poolside. We were seated did at a table inside that faced the ocean however. The waitstaff was excellent perhaps even a little too hands-on. The food was good with some traditional Italian dishes having a carribean flare.

Voga is very good and the caprese salad is outstanding. I loved the meal, but we had a large group. Everyone was served and gave up waiting and had basically finished their entrees by the time my sister's arrived. It was ridiculous! I was very unhappy with the service in that regard. We did complain, and they brought out complimentary soup to try to help, but I think they must have forgotten to put in her order. Other than that ordeal, the food is very good and the prices are very reasonable.

Based on our dinner at Perla the evening before, we decided to stay in the hotel instead of venturing out. The food here is surprisingly good. The veal osso buco was tender, flavorful and was paired with a rich musroom risotto. My wife's veal parmesan was a generous portion of tender veal with house-made pasta. The service is better than at neighboring Perla. They also do three course specially priced meals in the early evening.

Very good food and service. Attentive waiter kept water glasses full and brought more of the excellent bread. Portions were reasonably sized, well seasoned, appropriately cooked and tasty. Decor is very nice - modern furniture, lighting, artwork, and accents in various brown tones. We ate inside at the window with a view of the ocean. There is also outside dining (without a view), but it was too humid that evening.

I took my mother and aunt, both in their late eighties, hard to please young ladies. They loved it, I did too. The food was well prepared with fresh ingredients, delicious seasonings, and cooked to perfection. I particularly loved the fresh vegetables, best I have had as far as I can remember.

Very cool Italian joint in an even cooler "tropical moderne" hotel. We went basic: Veggie Risotto was spot-on, and house made spaghetti Bolognese was excellent. Drinks had just the right kick in a town where too many drinks don't have enough. Our dessert, cheesecake lollipops, looked a lot more intriguing than it tasted, though. Pricey, but not out of line with the neighborhood.

I unfortunately cannot find one good thing to say about this restaurant. The food was absolutely horrible and the waiter could not even describe what the ingredients were in the dish. For the money you will spend here, spend $30 more for two and go to Il Mulino New York at the Ritz Carlton and have a fantastic Italian meal with complimentary appetizers from the chef. Right down the street at the Condrad Hotel is Pikayo - a Chef Wilo Benet restaurant and it is fabulous for just a few dollars more. Highly disappointed.

This is a very good restaurant located in San Juan hottest spot, La Perla Hotel. Service was awesome and all employees gave the extra like for the costumers. Reservations are a most, the restaurant is always at full capacity. If you would like a more private dinner ask for the outdoor terrace where they only seat per request and is usually empty. Don't forget your coat, Puerto Ricos's beaches are always windy. Prices are good compared with other San Juan restaurant.
