  • "One word comes to mind.....outstanding!!! Food was great and service even better."

  • "This was my third time visiting vmertz. The first time was great. We had an awesome waiter and everything we ordered was fantastic. Second time they overcooked my husband's steak but my food was good. Great service again. The third time the service was slow but once we complained all the good came on time. The server forgot to out our order for appetizer in and we had to remind him. We both ordered the prefix menu and ordered the complete opposite so we could both try everything and the food was just okay nothing great. We probably will give it another chance. We like the atmosphere."

  • "Ambience was perfect for a date night. Food presentation was excellent. Taste was very good. A little bit rich for me, and looking back I probably should have passed on a heavy appetizer and just ordered a simple salad before the main entree. But it was all very yummy and the waiter was fantastic. We will definitely return."

  • "We consider V. Mertz to be "our restaurant" have never once been and found the food to be anything less than spectacular. The wine list is amazing and the service is above and beyond that of any restaurant in Omaha. V. Mertz is THE place to celebrate a special occasion!"

  • "I went to V. Mertz with my girlfriend over the July 4th weekend. We decided to try their cocktails instead of wine. I got their old fashioned which was one of the best drinks I've ever had. Our server even brought over their head bartender to describe the drinks in further detail and make suggestions. I got the duck and my girlfriend got the salmon. We loved our entrees and the experience overall. V. Mertz lived up to high expectations and if we're ever in Omaha again, we will be back."

  • "This was our first visit to V Mertz and we couldn't have had a nicer time. Our waiter (Chris) was amazing - very personable and knowledgeable, answering all our questions. The atmosphere was great - quiet and classy. And the food was delicious. We tried two cheeses as an appetizer - the Gigi and Garland, which came with bread, blueberry sauce, mustard and a crunchy hazelnut crumble. We ordered the flank steak, the peppercorn steak and the salmon. I'd read in some review that the portions were on the small side, but I didn't think that was the case. We ordered the Candy bar, which was fun and really good...and the Blackberry, Rhubarb and Port, which was very different but delicious. I would definitely order it again."

  • "We have been to V Mertz a couple times now, and both visits were of great quality. The service, from the wait staff, the sommeliers and the chef was at the top from anywhere we have visited in Nebraska. The tasting menu is always dynamic with interested combinations and unexpected elements pair with great lesser known wines."

  • "V. Mertz gives Omaha a European feel inside the passageway of the Old Market. The service was a little slow, but the restaurant was busy, it was a Saturday night. The food presentation and taste was superb although the noise level in the restaurant was high. The Wagyu flank steak and the Peppercorn steak were well prepared and scrumptious. The service personnel were friendly and knowledgeable and we will return again soon."

  • "My first experience here was fantastic, second time not so great. The server was not great long wait time for first plate chairs not comfortable after an hour and a half. Not sure I will go back, so disappointed. Not the same review I gave them last time I visited."

  • "We had one of their tasting menus paired with wine on each course (These need to be set up in advance when making a reservation) What a delicious, wonderful experience! Chef John, Sommelier Matt and the rest of the staff created a delicious, creative, and wonderfully unique experience. Kudos to them for creating delicious, beautiful food! We love VMertz and are never disappointed!"

  • "The food and service were fantastic! If I had one complaint it would be the table size. The table for two left us jostling for space when items were brought to the table. I noticed a group of people brought in their own bottle of wine and the manager explained their corking fee. This is good to know for future reference."

  • "On Friday, I had the honor of asking the most beautiful woman in the world to be my wife and afterwards we had a late reservation at V. Mertz for their tasting menu. The restaurant had been highly rated and after a little research I chose an 8:15 reservation and the pleasure of the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairings. The evening was perfect, every bite was a step forward and each one of them had the kind of wow factor we were after. The chef and sommelier were exceptional and worked together exceptionally well. Each wine pairing complemented the dish perfectly and we found 2 wines that we will seek out for our own collection. This meal was inspiring and it was the perfect meal to begin our lives together on the perfect night."

  • "I chose V. Metz for our monthly date night based on several recommendations. However, my husband and I left disappointed. The scallops in the first course were cooked perfectly but got lost in the veg. The beets in the second course were great but overwhelmed by the green while the cauliflower soup was underseasoned. The waygu bavette was tough and the lamb had no flavor. The service was slow and the restaurant was so warm I sweated through the entire meal. We certainly won't be back."

  • "I am an Omaha native, and had never been to V. Mertz - and when a Groupon became available, I couldn't help but jump on the opportunity. Our waitress, Jen, was so knowledgable about the menu, and took wonderful care of us. The house-made charcuterie was delightful, and the dinner was spectacular. The only thing I regret is not getting dessert. We will definitely be back!"

  • "V. Mertz never disappoints from the imaginative seasonal menus, wine selections to the simple clean tabletops takes one to Europe for the night. Impeccable service by waitstaff such as David E., who can recommend food and especially wine, make an evening memorable. The prix fixe menu makes a lovely dining experience possible any time and not just special occasions. "

  • "We've lived in Nebraska for 15 years, but never visited V.Mertz for some inexplicable reason. Both of us were very positively surprised by the seriousness (not pretentious or overbearing) of the cooking, the fine service, and the range of the wine list. While several fine restaurants have appeared in Omaha over the last few years, V. Mertz is more than keeping up with its inventive menu that is still accessible to a range of diners. Outstanding. "

  • "V. Mertz has a great reputation for fine dining, but no reviews could have prepared us for outstanding it truly was. We were celebrating a special occasion, and our dining experience made it that much more special. The food, wine selection, and table service were the best, period. "

  • "Hadn't been to VMertz in years. A Groupon got us to try it again. Immediately ran out of the moderately priced wine. Waitress was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu (especially the complicated contents). Pork loin was way, way too salty, so i just ate the vegetables. Brussels sprouts slightly burned. Took a long time for the entrees to arrive. Not as good as I remember. Could be a little simpler menu, but maybe that's why some people like it. I would gladly return for a glass of wine, but not dinner. "

  • "V.Mertz is unequivocally one of Omaha's finest restaurants. Its setting in the Old Market's Passageway is top notch. From the moment you walk in the door, past the amazing fresh flower arrangement, you are greeted with comfortable yet professional service. From seating to service to spectacular food preparation and presentation, attention to detail is apparent at every turn. If there is one place not to miss in Omaha for a special occasion, V.Mertz is it."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to V. Mertz on a Saturday night for dinner. It is tucked away in Old Market in a somewhat hidden entrance. The area was intimate and Parisian. It made for an authentic dining experience. Our server, David, made the dinner great. He is French and knowledgable of the dishes, wine selection and French culture (of course). We started with a delicious cheese plate according to David's recommendations. I strongly recommend the camanbert. One of the creamiest I've ever had. I had the scallops and wagyu (surf & turf). It was delicious. Scallops were perfectly cooked, and the wagyu was delicious. We finished the meal with a creme brulee which was traditionally prepared and perfectly rich. I recommend having date night here!"

  • "We wouldn't have gone without a groupon to give us the incentive, but are so glad we did! The food was remarkable and it was a fabulous special evening. It was expensive (even with the voucher), but well worth it! We got the 5 course meal and each one was a party in the mouth."
