Private Party Facilities: V. Mertz offers semi-private dining for parties of 10 or less, in an area of the restaurant many guests refer to as “the wine room”. This provides an ideal table for 6-10 guests, where business conversations or private celebrations can be held without interruption from other guests of the restaurant. We are always willing to discuss closure of the entire restaurant for private parties of 30 or more guests.

Special Events & Promotions: V. Mertz is offering a 3 course Prix Fixe menu for $35 per person. This special is available Tuesday through Friday nights with the exception of Berkshire Hathaway weekend and holidays.

"We celebrated our 34th anniversary at V Mertz hoping to enjoy first class cuisine and classic cocktails. The staff created a memorable experience for us - doing everything perfectly with wonderful, personal service. From the innovative cocktails that went well beyond "mere libations," to the wine pairing, to the "adventuresome entrees" (including vegetarian)- the evening was everything we had hoped for and was the perfect setting for our celebration."

"The April 2012 menu is difficult to understand. I ordered the Borscht soup thinking it was a hot stew type item. It was a cold "soup", heavy on the beet flavor which made me shudder. (Think of drinking a glass of cold beet juice.)

In fairness, the waiter did explain the menu. However, at the end of the work day, it is a bit much to absorb a litany of ingredients/info.

I also had the salmon. It was supposed to come with asparagus. I think there were two withered skinny strands buried under the salmon and rice. There was something bitter on the plate like cold lettuce strands (miso?).

My assessment, based only upon a one time visit, is that VMertz disappoints. Mahogany Prime would have been a better choice for quality and bucks."

"We enjoyed a memorable meal off of the prix fixe menu with wine pairings. The food was wonderful and the presentation was top notch. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. He explained our choices with aplomb. Great experience."

"Wow! This place impresses every single time. From dining by myself to a group of 12 and an 8 Course Tasting menu, there is very little that I can ever find to critique, and they continue to exceed my expectations.
When the Executive Chef, Jon Seymour, comes out to greet me and then describes the kind of food he plans to do, that is the personal touch that I love. When Matt comes to describe the wines that he will be pairing with the meals, and tells the story on each wine, my customers are duly impressed. And having Kristina and David there delivering the courses on cue, it really makes a special evening, every time. The unique preparation of every course really does wonders for the Foodie nation of Omaha! ;-)"

"Excellent in all ways. The staff doesn't miss a single detail. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The chef is talented, creative, and meticulous. The setting is in the passageway in the heart of the Old Market. Their wine selection is one of Omaha's most extensive. This was a wonderful experience."

"Everthing was way above par, being next open passage way with screaming teen traffic was distracting at first but not a reflection on the restaurant. They even opened up early just for us. Amazing wine list, and food beyond compare."
