Spanish Tapas are small portions of food. The Idea when you go tapateo is to get many different types of tapas instead of just getting one boring dish. It's more fun to eat variety!

For those of you that still enjoy the more traditional style cuisine our special entrees of the day are outrageous! Be sure to try our famous Original Mojito, which is a traditional Cuban-style mint infused rum cocktail, and also our natural Tropical Fruit Mojitos.

  • "we used to be very enthusiastic patrons of Viva tapas. However last night may have ruined it for us. The service was inconsiderate and the food came out late.we had to ask for the salad at least 6 times. We were told that this particular salad with complicated even though it did not consist of any ingredients that needed to be prepared.My friends repeatedly asked for the soup to be served piping hot and despite this the soup still appeared lukewarm."

  • "When my date and I first came into this restaurant it seemed that we were not welcome. We are an African American couple and it seemed like they didn't want my business. The manager made all the difference as we had to wait for the best table in the restaurant. Our wait staff served us like VIP. I enjoy seafood and have high tastes and standards."

  • "My husband and I did something we have never done before - we left this restaurant before our main course came. The reason why we left was because an hour and half after ordering our main course it still had not arrived. At one hour and fifteen minutes my husband did approach the waiter (he had to go find him) to ask where our food was. The waiter said he would get back to us, but fifteen minutes later, still nothing. Not even a check back from our waiter. So my husband went and found the waiter again, and told him we were leaving. The waiter said that 'it was not his fault'. Although the manager was clearly standing the corner, made no attempt to even talk to us. It was the worst service we have ever experienced anywhere."

We had to chase down our waiter every time we wanted to order food, wine, even water (and given that it's a tapas restaurant, we had a lot of ordering to do)! I have been to this restaurant before and had a great experience, so hopefully the issues we experienced are only temporary."

  • "The staff was very nice however service was very slow. The food was not what was originally expected. The Pulpo a la Feira lacked salt, however we loved the Piquillos rellenos de Bacalao which we ordered again. The tortilla espanola was undercooked so we sent it back. The Sangria was delicous and because of it had 4 pitchers that evening."

  • "The "Pata Negra" (Spanish especial ham) was not "pata negra"...it was just an ok ham. It was "pata negra" price though ($18) All the other things were just fair....the bread was bad for a tapas restaurant...in Galicia they have excellent breads....I was expecting something better than just a cheap bread from a junk food supermarket. They charged $11 for one "Spanish coffee"...sounds like a little bit expensive to me. Not a good culinary experience...too bad."

  • "Had a meat & cheese platter, eggplant, croquette, etc. Those food was not significantly amazing if you compared to Michelin stared restaurants, but they were fine for their prices. Unfortunately, the restaurant offers a limited kind of glass wine."

  • "We had fried calamari 2 people can share, stuffed mushrooms very small and chicken empanadas 2 people can share which I must say were delicious; apetizers mentioned were full orders. The dinner did not fall far from the appetizers the paella was outstanding big enough for about 3 people leaves you yearning for lobster which wastoo small. The pork chops in Serrano ham sauce was exquisite, a great plate to try 2 people can eat nicely from it . The vegetable soup was also a delight. This whole meal was excellent, except for NO BREAD was offered or placed on the table. It is a bit pricey, specially the Sangria. Other than that, I must say they add their own tip to the bill. Server was pleasant and attentive to our needs."

Since we were 15 minutes early the hostess asked us to sit at the bar while a table was being readied ( the restaurant was half full at the time. Then we were forgotten for almost 45 minutes. Out of sight, out of mind. Waiter was polite but did not know the menu, how to place an order, or how to get drinks....."

  • "Granted our reservation was at 8:30 and some arrived at 9:10. However, I was actually SHOCKED at how rude the server was. I've served in the past, and would have been fired for treating customers as we were treated. 3 people walked in, he literally turned around and did not show up or about 20 minutes, which allowed him to tell us dinner could not be ordered. We'd have to sit at the bar (not explaining that the the kitchen is open, but must clear space for the lounge) but not even appetizer came out. No extra plates, a glass of water took 30 minutes, and the food took forever. We had to ask the table next to us to use their extra glasses, he charged tax twice, and included his gratuity even though only 7 people seated, and three ate."

  • "Everything was almost-wonderful at our first time to Vivo Tapas Lounge. The food was great - from the tapas to the cappuccino. We ordered the stuffed lobster special for our entrees, which were the size of the plates! It was a girls' night out, so we were there quite a while catching-up. The only drawback, however, was that the host told us at the end of our evening that a large party was coming in and that he needed our table. He was happy to move us to the bar, if we chose to stay. Must say, that in almost 50 years of dining out that I have NEVER had this happen. Wouldn't necessarily hold it against the restaurant, but might hinder me from making this as a first choice."

  • "We found Vivo Tapas Lounge through Groupon and gave it a try. The address is Ferry St., but the front door is on a side street & was difficult to see amongst all of the Christmas decorations. The tapas were OUTSTANDING! Everything was fresh and beautifully prepared and presented. Our waitress made a few recommendations that were right on the money. One member of our party had the Paella, and it was excellent. Overall, the quality of the food and the lovely atmosphere put anything that the big name Portuguese restaurants have to shame. Spent a few minutes talking to the owner and his passion is evident. We will definitely go back!"

  • "The restaurant was nice and the people were friendly but service was slow and seemed like they didn't have enough staff. We actually arrived early and there was not a crowd but still the service was slow. We arrived at 6 PM and left at 9:30 PM. Mostly due to slow service and food preparedness. The food was not that great either we ordered the Paella and it was not cooked all the way through. My wife, sister and brother in law ordered steaks and the rice and french fries were cold. Not good."

  • "Not my first trip to Vivo and won't be my last. The special appetizer (eggplant tower) was delicious. We also had shrimp w garlic which is a favorite of ours. Tried to entrees we hadn't had before. The salmon a la brasa was excellent-very generous cut of grilled salmon w sauteed fresh vegetables and rice. The pasta w/ seafood included clams, mussels, scallops and was heavy on seafood-well worth it. We shared a chocolate mousse cheesecake which was good. As always we went for a pitcher of red sangria. It is definitely worth a try. I recommend Vivo! They also make parking easy with a lot on Jackson St just a few steps away."

  • "Horrible experience. Our reservations were at 7:30pm. All they served was our Sangria. By 9:30pm we didn't even receive our appetizers. Many people left the restaurant upset that night. Funny part is, there weren't a lot of people there so there should not have been such a delay on food. Our waiter was horrible as well. Never again."

  • "I timed the reservation according to my friend's arrival at Newark Airport on a Saturday evening. Although the name of the restaurant is "bar and lounge," nowhere on their website does it indicate that the whole restaurant becomes a night club at 11 PM on Saturday nights. Our reservation was for 9:30 and by 9:45 the music was already unbearably loud and they were already clearing the tables to create a dance floor. The food was great - but I certainly would not return on a Saturday night for a fun dinner of tapas. Maybe I'd try it on a weeknight...."
