  • All hype

And I'm so sad to say that this restaurant did not live up to the hype! The spaghetti carbonara our waitress said was, " the most popular pasta dish" was tried by 2 in our party and it was awful. Nothing was worth the price they are chargin there.

Wait staff didn't know the featured wine. With a small wine list and only one featured one, this is inexcusable. The appetizer was nice. The pasta was correctly cooked and nice, but could definitely use more sauce. The porcciata (pork tenderloin and pork belly) - where was the pork belly? Dry, flavorless, and unimaginative. The pizza was stellar! I gave up the pork and had a slice of this instead. Having eaten on both sides of this restaurant combo (with Cucina Tuscana), the manager/owner pays a lot of attention to Cucina diners, yet doesn't greet diners on the Vivace side. With so many good Italian restaurants in SLC, we won't be going back to this one.

The food was great. I really enjoyed the cheese platter, main course and dessert. I was a little disappointed in the atmosphere. The music was terrible and the interior design feels cold. However, this will not keep us from going again.

I was hoping for more, but recieved poor service and average food. The place was dead on a Friday night and I now know why. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

  • Out of Wine!!!

They ran out of wine at an Italian restaurant! Need I say more?! The food actually wound up being very good but they were so disorganized and poorly run on this extremely busy night that I would not go back. I wanted to get up and leave but after a couple of drinks (while we waited 45 minutes for our 8pm reservation) my group decided to stick it out. We were rewarded with very good food and our server was very good (after I specifically asked for her to wait on us because the person that had been helping us was horrendous!) At the end we turned a very bad experience into a good one because of my groups sense of humor, the waitress, and the food. But I wouldn't go back!

  • The service at this restaurant

The service at this restaurant was good, but the food was mediocre at best. The antipasto platter had no meat or cheese and most of the vegetables were bland. The entree also lacked flavor. The highlight of the meal was the gelato! Some of the best I have had since Italy! I would go back, but only for dessert!

  • Not worth it!

For the prices of the dishes I expected much more from service to food. Food was tepid and cold in some spots, the plate was scalding hot (which was weird. It made me think it was microwaved), the food only ok. The waiter didn't know the menu. The waiter also got the drink orders mixed up several times. We had to ask for utensils when our food arrived. Once we got forks we had to ask for knives. Once those showed up we had to ask for napkins. The waiter also kept telling us inappropriate things about the rest of the staff. The tables outside for 4 were way to small for food and drinks. I would not go back for the prices being charged.

Meat dishes are outstanding but the table side salad was bitter and the pasta dishes were disappointing, for $25+ dollars a pasta dish has to be gold but unfortunately the crab pasta was bland and the alfredo was too heavy and had no balance in flavor. I did enjoy the stuffed ravioli and the owner was really helpful. Also the ambient noise was a little much.

Love the open flow of the floor plan and it was so nice to dine outside under cherry blossoms, in downtown SLC. It feels urban chic at Vivace. The food was good, albeit a bit overpriced. Quiet weekend night for them to begin with but the place filled up without me even noticing, so the noise level was quite nice. Service was great, Jordan was amazing. Norah Jones music was the only real bummer of the evening. Overall very enjoyable experience.

I was not a big fan of the club music playing over the dinner hour on Thursday night. The service was outstanding. Our server was very accommodating to the vegetarians at our table, as a large portion of the menu contains meet.

Very fun and lively place. Bread and their special dip were divine. Entrees are very generous...two could split one with a salad and bread - plenty to eat. Very fairly priced. I had the pork loin wrapped in pork belly; the loin was delicious but the pork belly was too fatty for my tastes. Will definitely return.

The food was excellent. Good selection and affordable. The service was very good. Attentive, but not overbearing. If you want really good Italian food without the formality of Cucina Toscana, this is the place.

I am an avid fan of Cucina Toscana's mouth watering offerings. I anticipated the same experience due to the fact Vivace is a sister restaurant. The two restaurants do not compare. Our server was attentive and stellar. The food is nothing to write about.

Bosco was our server, he was very attentive and helpful with suggestions. The appetizers were unusual and very delicious. I had the special (Prawns over mashed potatoes with grilled asparagus) and enjoyed every bite. Everything was cooked to perfection and subtly spiced. The tiramasu was enjoyed by all six of us at the table.

The three course dinner special at $22 is a great deal. It includes an antipasti platter, a pasta dish of your choice, and selections from the grill served family style for two or more. All the flavors were excellent and the service was very good. An added plus, there are no parking meters outside, so you can park without hassle on weeknights.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2013

billed as "Italian" fine dining, only thing on the menu that resembled Italian was the bread dipping sauce (simple olive oil with lots of garlic and anchovies). This is one of those places that puts more effort into the artwork on a plate than the actual flavor on a plate! And charges New York City prices to boot! The trout was soggy and tasteless, the pork-belly was very tender, but also tasteless! If there is a full menu with real Italian choices, then it's in the other side of the restaurant, I may or may not try over there.

It was great. Only down side was that we ordered the pork tenderloin wrapped in pork belly. Our dish was 75% pork belly (fat) and 25% tenderloin - we got about 2 tablespoons of edible meat. It was very tasty, however, just smallish. Everything else was delightful.

Had such high hopes for this place but it seems to be going in the wrong direction...not horrible by any means but just lacking any real inspiration and identity, just lackluster. Better for lunch than dinner, in my opinion. Last time we were there the dining room was 60 degrees (apparent HVAC issues)...takes away from the ambiance when everyone has to wear their coats while eating.
