A word from Vito's Restaurant & Lounge
Vito’s is an iconic 21 and over restaurant and lounge located on First Hill. Opened in 1953, it has a history rich in cocktail culture, organized crime and east coast, family style Italian food.

In April of 2010, Jeff Scott and Greg Lundgren purchased this Seattle institution and began a major restoration of the space. Their goal is to return Vito’s to the glamor and style of the 1950s, respect its colorful past and set the course for a 21st-century resurrection. Over the years the club has fallen into disrepair and poor alterations. They have replaced the dance floor with a performance space centered around a grand piano, with lounge singers, jazz trios and Lynchian curiosities that will dazzle and entertain into the early morning.Continued

  • "Ok, the style is dark but it had enough light to see what we were eating. We expected it to be more mafioso than it was, and it was a pleasant surprise how cozy the restaurant was. Nice staff, great lasagna, and the meatballs was just perfect. Will be back one day 😀"

  • "We were looking for a quiet little place with some entertainment and came across Vito's on urban spoon. We were staying at the Sorento Hotel which was just across the street so it worked out great. The food was very good service a little slow but not terrible. I'm more of a beer drinker than wine and the beer selection was fairly limited. The 4 piece jazz band was great, we stuck around after dinner and enjoyed the music."

  • "Great ambiance, great food, great service. If you're looking for a great date night restaurant, this is the place."

  • "I've walked by this restaurant many times, but only just tried it. Love the atmosphere with the piano player, a vintage American-Italian restaurant. Beet salad and Caesar salads were very good. Excellent Farfalle Rustica pasta with kalamata olives, capers, peppers, onions, red wine, hearty tomato ragout. Also excellent was the house-made potato gnocchi with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, sweet madeira butter, pine nuts. Highly recommend."

  • "Having lived in Seattle for over 35 years, I always knew Vito's was a institution and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. A native French woman at our table thought it was the best Italian food she had ever eaten in the US.....not sure I agree but it was all good. The shrimp appetizer was delicious, sauce was yummy. Gnocchi , eggplant and pasta with seafood delicious. Cannelloni very, very good. I wouldn't hesitate going there again"

  • "I've been to Vito's many times before… However, this evening was special because it was a first date with someone (who also turned out to be very special !!!)... Everything was absolutely perfect. My only complaints were that my pasta dish came out and was warm (it really should've been hotter, temperature-wise), and when they switched to the live "rock"/"retro" band later in the evening, they were a bit too loud, which made it difficult for conversation. The band, however, was quite good and a perfect fit for the retro feel of the restaurant. …and the service was excellent!"

  • "I love Vito's--great cocktails, live Brazilian jazz, delicious food, what more could you ask for?! A perfect spot for sipping drinks by candlelight with your date or to go with a group friends for a big night out."

  • "I hadn't been to this Seattle icon for decades, but I went there a couple of years ago for a friend's birthday party. The food was surprisingly good, and we had the privilege of hearing Ruby Bishop perform. She also is a Seattle icon not to be missed, talented and charming. We have been there many times since then. The food and service are always a cut above, and we have never been disappointed in the music. We love Johnny Astro, and we enjoyed the Tarantellas when we chanced to catch them. Kind of looks like we have become regulars. . ."

  • "Sorry to say, this is no the Vito's of long ago. Poor service, dingy and food lacking."

  • "We came to listen to a favorite group of musicians and decided to arrive early and have dinner. The food was very tasty and the service cheery and responsive. I really appreciated that our server took the time to break up the bill based on our individual orders and how some dishes were split. I'd return to savor the dining experience without the band."

  • "Our only real disappointment was how "petite" the glassses of wine were at happy hour. We like this place but probably will cross it off our list unless that changes."

  • "The service was excellent, including recommendations and thorough explanations on cocktails and dishes. The food was pretty good, portions were great, and prices were fair. An easy place to get a drink and a meal before an event at Town Hall. Atmosphere was loud, but cozy at the same time. I'd go back again for sure."

  • "We were looking forward to having dinner at Vito's but were deeply disappointed. The food was marginal at best and the cost far exceeded the quality. It was very noisy and the temperature inside was cool, however, when we asked the server if the heat could be turned up, it appeared that he was able to accommodate us. The server in general was courteous and did an acceptable job. This was my wife's birthday and we had relatives with us, so in all we were not pleased with the experience. Sorry, I really wished I was able to give the evening more positive comments."

  • "Classic cocktails, delicious homemade Italian dishes, and live jazz. Need I say more? Scenes from The Godfather and Mad Men will flutter before your eyes as you lean back, sipping your old fashioned, listening to Casey MacGill croon behind the keys. My date and I came here for dinner before catching a show at The Paramount. Our waiter, Sean, was super fun and took great care of us. The service was quick and noninvasive. The food was wonderful. The drinks were perfect. And the music created the perfect atmosphere for a night out. Simply put: I loved every moment."

  • "A definite step up from your typical red sauce pasta place. The table had a number of dishes and everyone was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Service was spot on and non-obtrusive."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner, but the interior was dark and dimly lit. There was live entertainment and that added to the lounge theme. We felt the food quality was good and reasonably priced."

  • "This was my first visit to Vito's. It was an easy location to find, parking was a bit challenging, but we managed to find a spot on the street about a block away. The ambiance was fantastic, I had gone specifically to see Casey MacGill's group play. I was so pleased that everyone there was able to chat with friends, listen to the music, and have a wonderful time. The service was fantastic, and even though they were very busy, the servers were attentive and kind. I plan to visit Vito's again, and bring friends. It is a long drive for me, since I live in Lakewood, Washington. But the trip is worth the effort to one of the greatest jems I have ever found in downtown Seattle!"

  • "Went to Vitos for dinner. Tasty food and really good value given the quality. Stayed for cocktails and music - both were great. Highly recommend checking out Vitos!"

  • "Although the waiter was quick to take our order and deliver our appetizers, the dinner took more than an hour and plenty of patrons were just walking out do to slow service. It looked like there were only 2 servers for the whole restaurant that night. Food was good, as was the music when it started, but way too loud to carry on a conversation,"

  • "My first time in Seattle and love ole school places. When we first arrived we were a bit concerned with nobody to greet us at the door, or tell them about our reservation. We went to the bar and it took a while to get someone's attention but once we did things went great except that they don't carry Coor Light so husband had to try a couple of beers before he settled on a beer he said he use to drink in school. So add Coor's please. Food was outstanding and our waiter was great. Stayed to listen to the Wally Shoup Quartet. we left after 3 songs. The sax player would play for 30 seconds and then leave to go drink and then come back towards the end and play for 20 more seconds, he wasn't that great. Kudos to the drummer he was fantastic."

  • "We enjoyed the old time feel. We found the restaurant on Open Table while staying at a Seattle hotel prior to a cruise. Our server Matt was very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and the portions were right for my wife and myself. We enjoyed the experience enough that we returned the following week while staying in Seattle an extra day after the cruise. Brooke was our server the second time and she also did an excellent job."

  • "I like it a lot because it doesn't look like a yuppie/hipster place. Classic interior. Very unique and enjoyable entertainment mix."

  • "Haven't been in Vito's for ~y~e~a~r~s~ -- and it was great fun to be there again. I felt as if I were in Chicago, rather than Seattle, and that's a compliment. Classic old Italian restaurant. One word: EGGPLANT. Absolutely amazing dish. If you can't decide between two dishes, get the eggplant rollatini to share with the table. Or have it for dessert. Sheer heaven!"

  • "Though hesitant at first, we found Vito's to be a fun alternative to trendy new places. New owners updated this 50's landmark by preserving and refreshing classic menu and interior (wall mirrors, black linoleum, red leather booths), and adding live jazz, cocktails, and great bar and table service. At Sat 8:30, tables were mostly full, couples/groups 20s-50s (note: 21+, IDs checked). After 9p, jazz trio (excellent) started and bar patrons streamed in, building a loud, lively scene around the bar (perfect timing to end our meal). Everyone enjoyed the reasonably priced food: Shrimp gamberoni ($10), "famous" cannelloni ($16), filet mignon w/ bleu cheese mashed ($29), chicken marsala ($16), amaretto cheesecake (delicious)."

  • "Food was very good, but portions were over the top. Service was smothering, although we ate early and the restaurant was not crowded. Waiter was too attentive. Couldn't carry on a conversation without being interrupted. Pricing was fair. Don't think I would go back."

  • "An icon place for nostalgia, retro 50's, somewhat freshened. Music (also 50'ish) was a bit loud for background fare at our 6:30 time. Food was decent and service was admirably prompt for our pre-Town Hall concert occasion."

  • "Vito's is Vito's! You go there for the experience! Food was fine nothing exceptional and on this night service was very poor! Place was unexpectedly very crowded and the two wait people were overwhelmed! But as said before, it's Vito's and part of the experience!"

  • "Love this place - the interior is a throwback. Menu is good but no substitutions allowed which is a bit rigid for a restaurant."

  • "We are old timers from the original Vito days. We like to revisit old memories but the unfriendliness of most of the staff is a real turn off. I feel sorry for the owner(s) who must have a healthy investment to protect. We are always friendly to the wait staff and always leave at least a twenty percent tip, so I know it's not our attitude regarding this ongoing matter!"

  • "Wife and I went to Vito's based on the reviews. Must say that the standard spagetti and meatballs were excellent. The sauce had a refreshing tomato sweetness to it, and the meatballs had just a slight zing to them that had me guessing what it was. On the other hand, my wife ordered the scallops that were cooked perfectly, but half way through, she encountered some grit. Was looking for a quiet diner with some live music (showed up too early for that), but for a saturday, was a little busy and quite noise. Probably should have thought of that before making reservations."

  • "Out of all the great Italian places in Seattle I would rate this one as mediocre. The food was okay but a bit rich. The canneloni was one big casserole of cheese with more melted cheese on top....too heavy. And the gnocche was soaked in oil/butter. Just ok. The enviroment was average-good. The service good. Too many other good choices in Seattle to come back but glad I checked it out."
