A word from Vito's Restaurant & Lounge
Vito’s is an iconic 21 and over restaurant and lounge located on First Hill. Opened in 1953, it has a history rich in cocktail culture, organized crime and east coast, family style Italian food.

In April of 2010, Jeff Scott and Greg Lundgren purchased this Seattle institution and began a major restoration of the space. Their goal is to return Vito’s to the glamor and style of the 1950s, respect its colorful past and set the course for a 21st-century resurrection. Over the years the club has fallen into disrepair and poor alterations. They have replaced the dance floor with a performance space centered around a grand piano, with lounge singers, jazz trios and Lynchian curiosities that will dazzle and entertain into the early morning.

My favorite restaurant/bar in Seattle. The food preparation is the best I have experienced since Italy. Every time a great dinner. Looks like an ordinary bar, but you would be wrong about this gem of a restaurant. They know how to cook.

There are not a lot of good eating places near Town Hall or St. James Cathedral. We've been to Vito's several times when attending concerts and had quite good, moderately priced meals. Seared scallops especially goo.

The food was great as was the piano player. However, our waiter was very odd. Sporting a flannel shirt, he looked like he had just stepped away from his gig in a garage band. I enjoyed the mushroom fettuccine while my husband had the lasagna, which he said was excellent. In fact, he cleaned his plate--despite which we were never offered dessert. Our waiter simply deposited the check. I know they have a dessert menu as I overheard another waiter describing choices to a fellow diner. We paid and went back to the hotel where we enjoyed dessert in the bar.

The owners are missing an opportunity to shine! They need to be hands on operators! It's the ONLY way to ensure a good operation! We are among the old timers and have been there several times since this latest "revival". Each time there have been issues that are unbecoming to their operation.. This latest venture introduced us to the best server to date. He was all that he should be and then some. However, the kitchen short changed one of our table partners by serving a very late entree. The rest of us had already finished our meals. How do you rationalize this when various, serious issues keep appearing with each visit. We struggle to keep the old Vito enthusiasm alive, but without owner cooperation, it's difficult!

Vito's is a one block walk down a steep hill from the Sorrento. Vito's offers a GF option so we both ordered the Bolognese - GF penne for one dish and non-GF spaghetti for the other. We loved the sauce, and it had the perfect amount of heat (spiciness) to it. We were there on a Thursday night, and they had an accomplished jazz standard piano player from 7-8 p.m. We were expecting the described darkness; however, we circled the bar and found that it was not as dark in the dining section on the side away from the piano. As described by others, it is below ground, so no windows, and has the old-school Italian club feel. Guests & staff alike varied in dress from very casual to dressed up. Bottom line is we'll be back for the Bolognese.

We were visiting Seattle and my husband found Vito's online and decided to try it because he's a huge Godfather (Vito Corleone!) fan and he liked the "Old World Italian" ambiance. Very traditional menu which we both like. I had the spaghetti with meatballs....it was delicious!! It was spicy, but not as spicy as an arrabbiata sauce. My husband said it was the best Bolognaise he's every had. We had a laugh with the young waiter when he offered us Cannolli for dessert and my huband said "Leave the gun, take the cannolis"....the young man had no idea what the reference was from....we aged ourselves again! We recommend Vito's.

Ok, the style is dark but it had enough light to see what we were eating. We expected it to be more mafioso than it was, and it was a pleasant surprise how cozy the restaurant was. Nice staff, great lasagna, and the meatballs was just perfect. Will be back one day 😀

We were looking for a quiet little place with some entertainment and came across Vito's on urban spoon. We were staying at the Sorento Hotel which was just across the street so it worked out great. The food was very good service a little slow but not terrible. I'm more of a beer drinker than wine and the beer selection was fairly limited. The 4 piece jazz band was great, we stuck around after dinner and enjoyed the music.

I've walked by this restaurant many times, but only just tried it. Love the atmosphere with the piano player, a vintage American-Italian restaurant. Beet salad and Caesar salads were very good. Excellent Farfalle Rustica pasta with kalamata olives, capers, peppers, onions, red wine, hearty tomato ragout. Also excellent was the house-made potato gnocchi with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, sweet madeira butter, pine nuts. Highly recommend.

Having lived in Seattle for over 35 years, I always knew Vito's was a institution and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. A native French woman at our table thought it was the best Italian food she had ever eaten in the US.....not sure I agree but it was all good. The shrimp appetizer was delicious, sauce was yummy. Gnocchi , eggplant and pasta with seafood delicious. Cannelloni very, very good. I wouldn't hesitate going there again

I've been to Vito's many times before… However, this evening was special because it was a first date with someone (who also turned out to be very special !!!)... Everything was absolutely perfect. My only complaints were that my pasta dish came out and was warm (it really should've been hotter, temperature-wise), and when they switched to the live "rock"/"retro" band later in the evening, they were a bit too loud, which made it difficult for conversation. The band, however, was quite good and a perfect fit for the retro feel of the restaurant. …and the service was excellent!

I hadn't been to this Seattle icon for decades, but I went there a couple of years ago for a friend's birthday party. The food was surprisingly good, and we had the privilege of hearing Ruby Bishop perform. She also is a Seattle icon not to be missed, talented and charming. We have been there many times since then. The food and service are always a cut above, and we have never been disappointed in the music. We love Johnny Astro, and we enjoyed the Tarantellas when we chanced to catch them. Kind of looks like we have become regulars. . .

We were looking forward to having dinner at Vito's but were deeply disappointed. The food was marginal at best and the cost far exceeded the quality. It was very noisy and the temperature inside was cool, however, when we asked the server if the heat could be turned up, it appeared that he was able to accommodate us. The server in general was courteous and did an acceptable job. This was my wife's birthday and we had relatives with us, so in all we were not pleased with the experience. Sorry, I really wished I was able to give the evening more positive comments.

Classic cocktails, delicious homemade Italian dishes, and live jazz. Need I say more? Scenes from The Godfather and Mad Men will flutter before your eyes as you lean back, sipping your old fashioned, listening to Casey MacGill croon behind the keys. My date and I came here for dinner before catching a show at The Paramount. Our waiter, Sean, was super fun and took great care of us. The service was quick and noninvasive. The food was wonderful. The drinks were perfect. And the music created the perfect atmosphere for a night out. Simply put: I loved every moment.

This was my first visit to Vito's. It was an easy location to find, parking was a bit challenging, but we managed to find a spot on the street about a block away. The ambiance was fantastic, I had gone specifically to see Casey MacGill's group play. I was so pleased that everyone there was able to chat with friends, listen to the music, and have a wonderful time. The service was fantastic, and even though they were very busy, the servers were attentive and kind. I plan to visit Vito's again, and bring friends. It is a long drive for me, since I live in Lakewood, Washington. But the trip is worth the effort to one of the greatest jems I have ever found in downtown Seattle!

Although the waiter was quick to take our order and deliver our appetizers, the dinner took more than an hour and plenty of patrons were just walking out do to slow service. It looked like there were only 2 servers for the whole restaurant that night. Food was good, as was the music when it started, but way too loud to carry on a conversation,

My first time in Seattle and love ole school places. When we first arrived we were a bit concerned with nobody to greet us at the door, or tell them about our reservation. We went to the bar and it took a while to get someone's attention but once we did things went great except that they don't carry Coor Light so husband had to try a couple of beers before he settled on a beer he said he use to drink in school. So add Coor's please. Food was outstanding and our waiter was great. Stayed to listen to the Wally Shoup Quartet. we left after 3 songs. The sax player would play for 30 seconds and then leave to go drink and then come back towards the end and play for 20 more seconds, he wasn't that great. Kudos to the drummer he was fantastic.

Though hesitant at first, we found Vito's to be a fun alternative to trendy new places. New owners updated this 50's landmark by preserving and refreshing classic menu and interior (wall mirrors, black linoleum, red leather booths), and adding live jazz, cocktails, and great bar and table service. At Sat 8:30, tables were mostly full, couples/groups 20s-50s (note: 21+, IDs checked). After 9p, jazz trio (excellent) started and bar patrons streamed in, building a loud, lively scene around the bar (perfect timing to end our meal). Everyone enjoyed the reasonably priced food: Shrimp gamberoni ($10), "famous" cannelloni ($16), filet mignon w/ bleu cheese mashed ($29), chicken marsala ($16), amaretto cheesecake (delicious).
