Vito's CafeAmazing Experience - Highly suggestI brought my fiance to Vito's after proposing because she loves authentic Italian, as well as live singing and music.
We had a 6PM reservation on a Wednesday night. When we arrived we were afraid we were too early for any performances from the wait staff (which is a large part of why I chose Vito's in the first place) but we were surprised to find that the pianist Jack was more than happy to play for us and the servers sang for us. Being so early, we felt as though we had the whole place to ourselves, making our special night very romantic. Around 8PM more diners arrived and Vito took the stage to sing and create a cheerful atmosphere. On top of the ambiance, the food was amazing. Everyone was entertained and the food was wonderful. The drinks were not bad either. The singers were very accomplished and were not afraid to try songs they had never sung before and did a wonderful job. With the servers taking a break to sing occassionally, you have to be patient and enjoy the moment. It has a casual atmosphere with great food, good wine list and talented staff. I was a bit dubious of the “singing” and the night we were there show tunes predominated but it was great to see and hear such talent, oh I cannot forget the piano player…delightful. Vito is a hands on manager and he made the evening more enjoyable with his singing and personal service. I would recommend to anyone wanting good food and an entertaining night out. They have a varied menu, but they were out of many items by 7:30 on a Saturday night. But what they had was fantastic. The service was incredibly slow...we waited for drinks, bread plates, salads...our meal took almost 45 minutes. We were appologized to many times: "it's on it's way out" and then we'd wait another 10-15 minutes. A few times, servers brought us the wrong thing...had the wrong table. I think it was just inexperience. The wait staff also sings...which is GREAT fun and they are all VERY good. We really enjoyed it. But, I think they need to train them as servers, as well. Italian never had it so good!! So fresh, I had the special: Shrimp n spiniach in a spicy tomato sauce with linquini. YUM!! With freshly backed olive bread, and the salad...WOW; fresh greens with pine nuts and gorganzola tossed with balsamic vinagret. Now I know why it is a Four Star Restaurant. Need I forget the talented entertainment!! Outstanding Pianist played all evening, with solos from the servers and Vito himself. Chatted with Vito and his wife each time - they have a nice personal touch.
