Overlooking the main dining room, the second story mezzanine provides a chic and trendy way to entertain. From Cocktail receptions to fully coursed lunch and dinners, it is the perfect place to host a party. The Mezzanine can accommodate up to 40 people for a cocktail party and up to 30 people for a private lunch or dinner.

  • "Probably the best restaurant in the GCT area - it's intimate - friendly and the chef knows how to prepare food. The wait staff is efficient and unassuming while managing my table with finesse. Their signature item is the rolls made with duck fat - and they are significantly better than your average baguette. They are dense and rich with a hint of flavor and plain luscious. My trout had a hint of smoke bringing back memories of camping in the mountains and my partner's scallops were spectacular. It's not cheap but at least here you get very good food for your restaurant dollar."

  • "My Husband and I dined here on 3/31/14 after reading all of the positive reviews. He had the lamb, I had the duck. Both were outstanding. Our Server Phillip was very personable and charming. The rolls brushed with Duck fat were sweet, hot and delicious. We had two servings. Throughout the meal there were complimentary offerings from the chef which were also very nice. Our overall dining experience was a very pleasurable one. Would definitely recommend for an intimate evening out."

  • "Stunning interior, terrific service, excellent food. Try any of the house made pastas, the chestnut agnolotti was amazing. I love that you can get half portions of most of the dishes, as well as half glasses of wine. So much fun to try different wines with different dishes. This is not the place to go if you are looking for giant plates of overcooked pasta with giant meatballs sitting on top. This is the place to go if you want terrific food and terrific service, a short walk from Times Square."

  • "Lots of NYC restaurants can give excellent food, wine and service. Vitae does much more. Our meal began with a complimentary three-part *amuse bouche* but when my husband's severe food allergy and my dietary restrictions meant we could not eat two of the three items, the chef promptly produced two that we *could* eat! After dessert, when we were brought an additonal complimentary sampler plate of sweets, the chef sent one that was allergen-free, specifically for my husband. In addition, someone from Management came to see if we were enjoying our meal. Service was attentive, knowledgeable and caring without being intrutive. And the food and wine? Superb! Go!"

  • "I didn't get their Valentine's Day Tasting because the choices were a bit limiting. If I recall, My girlfriend and I ordered the pulled pork tacos, lobster parpadelle, the duck breast, lamb, and a strawberry lemon tart. The food was absolutely amazing, and the restaurant looked a lot nicer than I thought when I was looking at pictures online. They also gave us a "free" rose, which was nice, although it could've been in a better condition. Overall, my girlfriend and I had a great experience, and we still sometimes talk about the pulled pork tacos and the lobster parpadelle when we're hungry."

  • "Yes, the decor has style...yes, the waitstaff is attentive....yes, the food is good. The retro Catskill resort decor is all hard surfaces so the noise level is high. Chairs at freestanding tables are very uncomfortable for tall people. No one should have to sit near the kitchen or the stairs, especially when there is a party upstairs. The attentive waitstaff is too solicitous and (unintentionally) intrusive. And yet, they still served the wrong dish at our table! Food is good -- quite competent -- but not great or inspired, given the prices. Soften the interior for a little quiet elegance, ratchet back the number of times waiters and hostesses approach the table, focus less on amuse bouches and add a little more creative spark to the food."

  • "We visited Vitae on a Saturday night, we had reservations for six. We were greeted at the door and promptly seated, the environment was nice and inviting, comfortable, and not too noisy. The group especially enjoyed the signature cocktails. We had a gluten-free and vegetarian diner with us, they had no problems navigating the menu and finding something delicious to eat; the staff was also very knowledgeable to their needs. Our appetizers and meals were fantastic, everyone loved their dish! I would highly recommend Vitae!"

  • "With apologies to The Association,: Gracious is the word I use to describe all the lovely little touches Vitae offers you inside sweet little complimentary offerings--a spoonful of smooth butternut squash soup with savory toasted pumpkin seeds, a miniature soda bottle and straw with a refreshing liquid palate cleanser, buttery little cookies at the end of the meal, a bagged madeleine at the coat check (to be sure we remembered Vitae?) without us asking, the server gave us a taste of the wines we had ordered by the glass before filling our goblets helpful, well-informed answers to questions about which wine or appetizer or fish to order perfect service-- attuned, attentive, unobtrusive"

We found flexibility in portion sizes, which enabled us to try three first courses and one main. The main course, a butternut squash risotto, was not as strong as the first courses, but it was certainly fine. The hamachi crudo was terrific, as was the arugula anchovy salad and the pork belly tacos. We appreciated the range of the wine list, too, as it offered a delightful tempranillo and several other appealing reds. Vitae is a good choice in an area were there are too few reliable options for eating well."
