  • "Second time here. First experience great. This experience not so. Made reservation far in advance for bday and was put at a dark outside table w no lights. Waitress was kind/friendly but easy to forget us in the back. Appetizer was grilled octopus and it tasted like charred brickettes. There was no moisture left! We had the buffalo app also and that was better. Just couldn't see what you were eating! I ordered flat iron steak that was just ok. My husband ordered scallops and 1 of 3 was cooked properly. I was hoping he would have a great experience as I did the first time but wasn't that wasn't the case. Unfortunately, won't be going back."

  • "Small, not too fancy, but wow the food was great. I had the octopus appetizer, char grilled and done well. Our entrees were the spaghetti and scallops, both were among the best meals we have ever had. The scallops came with artichoke with lardon that was simply incredible. The chef is really on a roll and each plate was a perfect blend of flavors. Our new favorite restaurant. Only down side was the wine list is difficult to work, overpriced for the quality of wines available, but the entrees are very well priced."

  • "This is my third time at dinner at Virtu, and my first time sitting outside. The waiter was charming and the food splendidly arrayed on the plates. The Burrata appetizer is beautifully layed out and ample. I had a fish dish (my second time) and found it just enough food without sending my over the top of being full. The wine was perfect. IT was a gorgeous night, if not a tad cool, but the heaters provided ample heat. I love this hidden gem."

The mixologist is no slouch either and does a great job offering unique drinks that compliment the dishes. This is a great place to eat outside and the Arizona weather. I will be going back."

  • "We were on a small tour of Old Scottsdale and used OT to find a hot spot. The location was just off the main drag, cute and eclectic. We were accommodated when we asked to sit inside, (we were hot). The drinks were stellar (I loved the Moscow Mule in the Tito's Copper Cup!) We had the burrata appetizer and it was amazing. My son had the smoked duck and ate every bite. However, my flank steak meal was a tad over-salted. I have to admit, I don't use sea salt often so it may just be my palate. I couldn't finish because of the salt level but I enjoyed to overall experience."

  • "I went to Virtu for brunch. Terrific off-the-beaten track spot. The menu is creative with enough variety and interesting choices for breakfast or lunch items that I could have gone back every day for a week!! And that's without the "standard" breakfast fare that is referenced on the menu but not actually listed. So they have it if you want it. Outdoor patio is charming and quiet. Looking forward to my return to Scottsdale. Can't wait to go back!!"

The menu was a bit daunting as several ingredients were unknown to us, but we were overwhelmingly pleased. The burrata cheese appetizer was fabulous, as was the beet salad. The scallop entree was outstanding. Best of all were two desserts, the cheesecake and the chocolate one. Could have skipped the gelato. Only disappointment was waitress spilling a glass of lemonade and a carafe of water on my daughter, then charging us for the lemonade (seriously?)."

  • "I must say I have been to hundreds of restaurants across the globe and have never given a 5-star rating but Virtu is special and worth a 5-star restaurant for their food and service. Their mixtologist, Bobby, prepared wonderful cocktails for our friends and a tasty Moscow Mules in the copper mug for me. We started with grilled octopus and truffled steak tartare. We also ordered the following dishes for main course, and they was perfect: prosciutto wrapped pork rib chop, pan seared scallops, smoked duck breast and grilled flat iron. We paired the food with two bottles of wines Baberra from Italy and Malbec- delicious. Our waitress was attentive. We loved everything about this quaint restaurant, and would definitely come back again."

  • "I wasn't very impressed with our meal at Virtu on 3/22/14. First of all, our server Luke didn't know the menu that well. I felt that the service could have been a lot tighter than it was. I called on the day of the reservation to confirm our reservation and I told the staff that we were celebrating a birthday. Yet, when we ordered dessert after our meal, there was no candle, no Happy Birthday, no acknowledgement whatsoever. The server overheard me telling my boyfriend that he wasn't paying for the meal, that I would pay, because it was his birthday. Then the server said, its your birthday? He should have known that already."

  • "Virtu was new to us, and clearly to most of the other diners that evening, as shown by everyone struggling to find the desk to check in. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. Then we had a 15 minute (timed, not approximated) wait until the servers figured out whose table it was. From then on, everything was great and the food was, too. The beet salad wasn't outstanding, but everything else was. Very outstanding. We haven't had better food anywhere in Scottsdale, and we make an effort to find the best places. We will be back!"

The entrees were large and some had wonderful flavor profiles but 50% of what we ordered was bland and lacked the pizazz I would expect of a restaurant up for a James Beard Award. The service was average, nothing special. The restaurant itself is beautiful! Great outdoor space. Perfect for a casual dining experience or special occasion."

  • "We had a wonderful time at Virtut! The menu was short and sweet; keeping it to a minimum helps the focus stay put! We had the grilled octopus and truffled steak tartare for starters; FABULOUS! My husband had the squid ink linguini for his entree which was also fabulous. I had the duck breast, which might have been a little undercooked and the crispy kale was a little salty; otherwise, good. The waiter was knowledgeable and able to answer our questions! The wine list had good choices and prices were reasonable. The overall check was well worth the meal; again, very reasonable. The menu was original and unusual! Well worth the choice in Scottsdale! I would highly recommend this restaurant in a minute!"

  • "Wonderfully prepared thought out food umenus. Fab ambience. The beautiful girl who was the hostess seemed to have an attitude. Not a smile, but just a perfunctory stroll to our table. No mention of upcoming schedules or specials. Not a terrible warm, but rather a mild initial reception. Our server, on the other hand was sparky, informative and proud of her restaurant.   • "Not sure if it is James Beard award worthy. The atmosphere is delightful. I had the octopus and the duck and both were quite good as well as the dessert which was two divergent tastes on one plate. The cocktails are expensive and skimpy and the hostess was rude and snotty. She was very young and most of the customers were not. We arrived 7 min early and there were several tables but she made us wait until after our reservation time. Really? Then she tried to seat us buy the parking lot even thought there were better tables. I found out we were not the first ones who refused that table. She had some 'tude that just was not necessary and started our evening on a bad note."

  • "We eat out a lot, about 3-4 times a week. This place is great. Very tasty and eclectic without being too far-out. The best thing I like about this restaurant is that the food is not too salty. Thank you. We had the octopus appetizer, which my wife thinks tasted like lobster. It was not chewy or rubbery like most octopus. We then had the pork chop and the scallops. The desert was great. I like the small feel and being able to get out of the noise. We have made additional reservations and look forward to eating there again and again. MDS"

  • "I was pleased to grab one of the hardest reservations to get in Scottsdale, but what I didn't know was that the hostess would treat Open Table customers differently (worse) than those who contact the restaurant directly. When my friend and I arrived, we were told that because we booked through Open Table our seats had to be on the patio (it had been pouring rain). Then she relented and said we could be inside as long as we finished our dinner in 90 minutes! Well the 90 minutes came and went, and there were plenty of empty tables left to provide for new diners. We did not let this experience overshadow the fantastic food and the great service from our server. I would recommend Virtu, but be warned if you use OT!"

  • "Food was good. I loved the steak tartar. We had made a reservation for early so we could have a nice outdoor table. They sat us next the the entrance and we had to let incoming guests know where they could find the front desk. We asked to move to a different table and even though there were plenty open (5:00pm) they would not move us. We continued to get splashed from a pool above us as well. We mentioned it a few times and no one seemed to care. Our server was friendly, but kept rushing us. I was still eating my appetizer when they brought us our entrees. For a top restaurant, this is not acceptable. The server seemed disappointed that we ordered dessert so they seemed more interested in turning the table rather then taking care of us."
