  • "Good atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful and food fantastic. The plates are enormous and they are piled high. Make sure you are hungry when you arrive here because the portions are not for the faint hearted. Visited twice while in New York and wasn't disappointed either time. There's plenty to choose from and you don't have to wait ages to be served. We reserved our table on both occasions which was easy to do on the website and we were always seated on time. Would definitely recommend a visit. Prices were good, it was nice to eat in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere."

  • "We regularly picked Virgil's as our go-to spot in midtown for reunions with groups of friends. The food is delicious and the service is great. Given its prime location in the theater district, the volume of guests can be overwhelming. But the staff provide friendly service and never make guests feel rushed to get in and out. It can be noisy and is regularly crowded, but if you make a reservation and have some patience, it will be worth it. One of the best spots in the theater district to have a good meal."

  • "Anytime I have visitors from out of town I take them to Virgil's and they rarely let me down. The wings were succulent and flavorful, and the combo plates gave us a sample of all delights. Service was prompt and responsive to our needs. The kids had a great time with their crayons and the adults had a chance to catch up. Thanks Virgil's!"

  • "We had a 7pm reservation yet we weren't seated until at least 20min later and the ribs weren't the best but other than that the food was great! Bbq shrimp and the nachos were my favorite and the service was fast once seated."

  • "The waiter we had this time was just, BAD. He didn't get our order correct, suggested more than once that the order was wrong because we changed our minds, took more than 20 minutes to bring the check which wasn’t correct but we paid so as not to wait more. "

  • "Virgil's was a great place to bring the family during lunch. Huge portions for growing boys. Perhaps a tad salty, but otherwise, awesome food. "

  • "Loud and crowded. I love Carmine's and when I saw this was a "sister" restaurant I thought OK, I will try it. Food OK - how do you not have any Chardonnay? Probably will not return on next visit to NYC."

  • "I have been to Virgil's many times but this last experience wasn't good the food came out cold and we didnt receive good service the food seemed as if it sat there for awhile and since ther last time I was there the good portions got smaller"

  • "Great BBQ and surprised to receive such great food in Times Square! Definitely going back every time I am in town. Favorites were the wings, brisket and the mac and cheese."

  • "I highly recommend Virgil's. I was recently in NYC for a broadway matinee. My family and I sought out opentable for a reservation for dinner. Virgil's has a great selection of reasonably priced BBQ. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and brought out our food so quickly!! We each had a BBQ combination which comes with two sides. We each had enough to take home...Yum!"

  • "Disappointed in Virgils. Receptionist very abrupt even though I had a reservation. Asked me to stand by the bar with my two young grandsons, which I refused to do. Wanted to stick us downstairs in a very loud, noisy area, but I asked to be seated upstairs. Had a long wait even though I saw half a dozen empty tables upstairs. The waitress had to be called over after waiting over 20 minutes. They delivered the wrong food to our table. When it finally came, half of the ribs were raw, slimy and uneatable. They credited one meal. Waitress never asked if we'd like drinks or desert. Lousy Food, Bad employees. Wouldn't try it again. Too many good resturants in Manhattan who appreciate their customers."

  • "Very good meal except you have to be careful when booking on line. We wanted the Mohegan location and we booked it at the NY location. Luckily we showed up early and our hostess was EXTREMELY accommodating with us, saying in happens all the time (she may have just been being kind). A very nice experience."

  • "Pleasant without being exceptional. Ribs are terrific but pulled pork and chicken a little bland and 'samey'. BBQ sauce really good but coleslaw was too sweet. Service very efficient and friendly. Fries to die for."

  • "Only issue was my food wasn't hot when reached the table. To be fair, we were a large group of 11."

  • "Great barbecue! The brisket was some of the best I've ever had. The Dirty Ribs were very good. Loved the collard greens too!"

  • "Unfortunately we were not able to take advantage of our reservation at Virgil's. We had a 6:00pm reservation. We arrived at 5:45pm. Asked to wait for a few minutes, we had to move to a very crowded bar area. A little after six, the waiter came through to escort us to our table. The table presented to us was near the front entrance, a noisy, main isle, high traffic area. We asked for an alternative seating. According to the receptionist, they weren't able to provide an alternate for 15/20min's and couldn't guarantee where the seating would be. We left."

  • "We went here for my boyfriend's birthday before a broadway show. The bbq food is amazing, and everyone should try the watermelon margaritas! I can't wait to recreate them this summer! We got a platter to share which was huge! More than enough food for 2 people making the price extremely reasonable. Would highly recommend this place, and perfectly located for a pre-show dinner."
