  • "With a full Chef's kitchen, dedicated sushi kitchen and creative cocktails, Virago is dedicated to beautiful presentation with bold flavors. In a tapas style, the portions are intentionally sized to encourage diners to explore multiple plates and share with their table-mates. They serve items as soon as they are prepared so that you eat them at the peak of flavor instead of timing all of the dishes to arrive together. Perfect for encouraging discussion and celebrating how great everything is. Specifically, the "Ninja Bacon" blew our minds, the "Yellowtail Jalepeno" made us question if we'd ever had yellowtail before, and the nigiri was so fresh and tender. These were matched only by the "Honey & Basil" martini and the "White Cosmo"."

  • "We heard the sushi at Virago is very good, so we made reservations for dinner. The sushi was delicious and the service was good. Everyone made an effort to welcome us and thank us for dining there. The only drawback was the ambience. It is a bit dark inside (which others may like) and the noise level is pretty high. The restaurant is geared more for a younger crowd than those around 60 who want to enjoy a nice, quiet dinner."

  • "Heard about Mondays at Virago (1/2 price select sushi and buy one get one select drinks). Well for $21 I'd have to say this place was stellar! The sushi was good -- I liked that it was actually bite size and not too overdone in terms of ingredients, seasonings, etc. Nice, simple, delicious. It took a ridiculously long time for two rolls to come out. The server was apologetic and that was nice, but we weren't watered/checked on very often either. May have been an off night. I'd def go back and would recommend. Maybe I'll up my review if it's quicker next time!"

  • "We have really enjoyed this groups other restaurants (Tavern, Whiskey Kitchen and Kayne Prime), but Virago was a major let down. The hostess was rude, the food and wine vastly overpriced and the sushi was only average. I don't mind paying a premium for food that's really well done, but Virago fell way short of expectations. The servers and manager, however, were both excellent. So it wasn't a terrible experience, but we had high expectations based on their other dining concepts."

  • "First time @ Virago. Went with a friend (her first time too). The ambience was terrific, clublike....would be good for a date or a girls night out. Both my friend and I opted for the salmon. The sides are sold separately. We asked the waiter if they were big enough to share or if we should get our own. He assured us they were shareable-we ordered the szechuan green beans ($11). Both the salmon and the gbs were delicious - perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The only problem was the portion sizes...at the end of the meal we were still hungry! My bill came to $40 and my friend's was $50 (she had a cocktail). We wish the waiter had suggested a salad or another side when we were ordering. Will know better if we visit again."

  • "We love to dine out. Did tons of research to pick just the right place for our evening in Nashville. We were so excited about the robata. Honestly the worst meal we've ever had. Truly awful. The execution on all our dishes just missed the mark completely. The robata sampler in particular was dreadful. Odd chef choices - skewered garlic and green onion? No seasoning, over cooked meat. Just really awful. My husband spit several bites out. We're still trying to forget the experience."

  • "Great atmosphere, wonderful service, and a great menu! If you're not in a hurry, I recommend a 5:00 reservation to beat the crowd, and get a parking spot just across the street. The Sushi menu is available until the chef's menu at 6:00. The drink selections will easily keep you entertained for the hour. We shared a few of the martinis, and the wasabi martini was definitely our favorite. And no matter what else you order, you have to have their Thai lobster shooters! Awesome!"

  • "We are repeat customers and appreciate Virago's excellent service, food and atmosphere! I started with a Wasabi Martini, my favorite. My husband had the Passion and Spice Cocktail. My husband loves jalapeños, so this was a hit! The "Ninja" Bacon was a great palate starter. We ordered two seasonal sushi rolls, Hawaii Five-0 (pricey for what it is) and Kurobata Belly, (a very manly roll) both were great! We finished our meal with their dessert, Coffee and Donuts with a cappuccino. The "coffee" was a soft truffle type chocolate topped with sea salt. The donuts were soft, warm and delicious. We highly recommend Virago!"

  • "We all had amazing meals and the restaurant staff (hostesses) were very hospitable to our changing plans and number of diners. The waiter set up a special table for us because we were a little tight in an albeit very cool booth. Place is uber chic and very cutting edge. However, on this particular night, it was dead due to a snowstorm and we were one of only a few table in the entire place. Drinks took over 20 minutes to hit the table after we waited 10 to order them. After that debacle, things got better and besides the courses coming out sporadically which we were warned about due to 2 kitchens (sushi and grill) we enjoyed the place very much. The rock shrimp tempura and kayne surf and turf roll were stellar. Cool place inside & out."

  • "I've been going to Virago for years since it was over at the old location and I've been telling family members to check it out for as long as I've been going. Well they finally went with me and I think it became their new favorite place as well. Even my mom who hates sushi found a lot of food she liked on their menu. For rolls the bomb and crispy fire crunch are always a favorite and I tried the crispy brussel sprouts, the ninja bacon, and the shiitake mushroom tempura for the first time and I think I will be ordering them with every meal there from now on! Just like any decent place to eat it's not the cheapest but I've never left disappointed and as many times I have gone Virago stays my favorite place to eat in Nashville!"
