  • "Had the occassion to celebrate 26th wedding anniversary with my wife & adult children... the food was impeccable and ambiance of the patio spectacular. Our server was James, and from start to finish, he was extremely competent, frliendly and welcoming. After dining (I will say my "short rib" diinner was fantastic) we did not order dessert, however James saw to the delivery of a delicious tiramasu platter decorated with the message "Happy Anniversary" & accompanied by ice-wine to finish. All combined, server to kitchen well deserving and so tipped at 20%. Thank you Violino for wonderful dining experience."

  • "They have a lot of choice in menu. We started with sea scallops topped with a pomegranate absolutely delicious. Our second course was Fettuccine there signature dish with flambe on table side, great flavour & great presentation. Upon the waiter advice we chose another appetizer, meatballs in a tomatoe sauce as an accompaniment rather than ordering a Secondi.Food was perfect for the evening, Excellent choice. We were than treated to a complimentary deserts. And to top it off the wine choice was excellent. Highly recommended!"

  • "This was an utter disappointment, service was terrible (non-attentive and at the end of service just dropped off the debit machine and walked away), steak was well done when medium rare was ordered (this should not happen on a $40 entre), pasta sauce (red pepper with boar bacon) was so heavy and strong that it as almost inedible and there was no reason for the boars bacon as you could not even taste it due to the base sauce, as well barely blanched, raw chopped asparagus stalks was a very bad choice in this sauce. Will not go back"

The Server is exceptional, from the first time a table side, throughout the meal and final delivery of the check, his concern is for the enjoyment and satisfaction of the Diner. The meals were literally a feast for both eyes and stomach, the flvours truly well blended to compliment one another beginning with the small loaf of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, wine, progressing with Caprese Salad, our main courses and culminating with dessert and coffee. Withiut hesitation, I recommend Violino as a fantastic place to dine!"

  • "I took my friend to Violini's for her Birthday luncheon on the veranda. They had a nice variety of dishes for lunch including gourmet pizza which is baked in an outdoor oven located on the veranda. We both enjoyed the Caesar salad and pizza. The service was upscale from start to finish. We were both too full to attempt dessert but the list of choices sounded very exquisite. I certainlly recommend this restaurant especially to couples for a romantic dinner or to empress the boss. I will definitely be back."

  • "The best patio in Edmonton for sure. The food is phenomenal,we had Summer seafood Platter it was huge and the best. I can't figure out why this patio isn't packed to overflowing on a hot day. Only four tables set up (which were full) on the day we were there. This truly is an exceptional experience, especially in Edmonton, where "patio" usually means a table where you bake in the sun and strain to hear over the traffic noise."

We were encouraged to stay and visit as long as we liked rather than being rushed out the door for a second seating. The wine list was highly varied with lots of selection at modest prices.   • "Wow! Such a beautiful setting with amazing food and terrific drinks list! This has become my new favourite restaurant in Edmonton! Calamari is delicious. The complimentary crusty roll with oil&balsamic is always a lovely touch and here it is especially tasty. My husband had the beef and he was very impressed. Service is excellent and the staff are extremely attentive. The variety of food and drink choices are outstanding with a good range on price. I would highly recommend Violino and we shall certainly be back!"

  • "This is a pretty restaurant, in an old house located off the main street, with its own parking lot and a large area for patio dining in the summer. We ate inside, which had a really nice ambience, as the area was broken up a bit by the different rooms. It was quiet and elegant, perfect for a couple hours of good conversation over a truly delicious dinner. Our server suggested the special, a halibut topped with lump crabmeat and a touch of watermelon cream sauce. It was excellent. We also chose the rack of lamb, which was perfectly cooked, well seasoned and very tender. Great wine and a yummy (ricotta) cheesecake for dessert. We were not rushed; this was a perfect dining experience, start to finish."

  • "We went to this restaurant for a romantic honeymoon dinner. It was mostly empty which awesome and unusual for this place. We had a 5 course meal and the food was soooo delicious we were impressed. The wine list was half off that night so I think we ended up drinking more than eating but either way the wine was also to die for. They have an amazing wine list. Our server, James, made us feel comfortable didn't rush us at all, he was very attentive and personable. And knowledgeable. Overall we absolutely loved this restaurant! For a expensive night out this is definitely the place to go!!!"

  • "Me and my girlfriend found we were missing the great outdoor feel and food we enjoyed while we were traveling Europe. This place had both. A nice patio in a quiet area, with birds chirping all around (but not loud and annoying). A great menu with options for multiple budgets. And food that was truly Italian (or at least what we had in Italy.) simple ingredients done well combining to make perfect delicious meals that will satisfy anyone. I highly recommend this place."

  • "Fettuccini was dry, chicken on it chewy and the whole dish totally bland despite extra fresh Parmesan and ground pepper. Spaghettini and meatballs, disaster. Supposedly one of their signature dishes. Meatballs were tough and dry as dust. Go for a drink and calamari on the deck and then go somewhere yummy for dinner."

He only named one special; poured wine only once, after which we needed to ask for this service; didn't notice we had no cutlery for main course; ordered mains too early so they sat under heat and were dry and overdone when brought to us. He offered dessert with accompanying wine when We complained of this, and when I asked about other specials as a 'by the way'. Then he brought the Bill before offering coffee. An otherwise memorable evening at a longtime favourite restaurant was spoiled. Will I recommend this restaurant - maybe with another waiter."

  • "Was looking forward to this restaurant. Heard lots of good things about it. Was disappointed. Waiter didn't know red wine glass from white. Waiter came every few minutes to coax us to order. Hardly had time to talk before he was around again. We were a party of 4 and the table could barely hold the 4 plates and cutlery. My wife ordered her lamb well done and I explicitely made sure the waiter understood the order. It came out medium. Magically, it reappeared three minutes later well done. not sure if they put a blow torch to it to get it to the right level. Thought a restaurant of this calibre would understand well done. Rest of the meals were fair. For an average restaurant, this would have been an OK meal. I just expected better ."

  • "Food was great always since we started in march to eat here. The special was AWESOME!!!! The salmon and crab on it was great. The cured meat with cheese platter~~ almost EVERY type of the locally cured meat gave us surprise~!!. The duck~omg it's outta this world, love wine from Mission Hill. The Tiramisu is a must-try no matter how filled you are. Great for family sharing.Chef was cooking pizza in front of us was great to see him,nice pizza crust."

  • "We had heard great reviews from friends and decided to try Violino. I had the pistachio crusted halibut which was perfect. The lobster risotto was ruined by the hard bitter chunks of fennel. For the price($34)overall disappointing. Chicken parmesan, dreadful dish. The meal is served on a wood plank, the chicken had been pounded too thin with an overbearing crust. the plank was almost completely covered with the chicken (topped with tomato sauce that lacked seasoning). The sides included a few olives and maybe 3 tbsp. of risotto. Overall this dish lacked flavor. With the amazing restaurants in Edmonton I don't think we'll be back to Violino Gastronomia Italiana."
