VioletteCozy and reliableAlways enjoy the food -- reliable, consistent. Our favorites: pate appetizer, escargot, salad Alsacionne, coq au vin, duck, and more. Pear tart was excellent for dessert. Enjoyed when they had just a pianist. Now have a piano and guitar -- different ambiance.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great! We enjoyed dinning here a lot. It was a good experience.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperbVoillette has some of the most authentic French we have tried since our trip to France. A definite must for any fan of comfort French food!!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench Flair by the FreewayWe return to Violette again and again for the authentically French-inspired menu, delicious blends of flavors, friendly staff, and eye-pleasing ambiance, with tall vases of fresh tulips, original paintings on the industrial-style walls, and live piano (and sometimes guitar). I recommend the beef and salmon entrees. The location is a bit out-of-the-way--near the intersection of I-85 and Clairmont Road--but it matters not once you are inside this inviting, relaxing restaurant. (On the other hand, the proximity to an exit on I-85 is probably a plus.) You can visit more expensive restaurants and receive a lot less for your dining dollar. I place my bet on Violette.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's been awhileI have not been back in quite sometime but this was a great experience. Food was of very good quality and excellent service was provided. Piano music was a nice touch and not found too often anymore. We will be back again.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench Comfort FoodWe were in Atlanta for a family event and found this gem of a restaurant through Open Table. We loved so much about it. The casualness of the owner, the knowledgeable waitstaff, the piano-lounge music, and the wonderful food.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA Taste of Paris in AtlantaViolette is not to be missed if you are a fan of French food. The food is fabulous, and if you are in the mood for something special, it is a must visit. The prices are very reasonable, and everything I have ever had there is fabulous.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best CLASSIC French cuisineThe thing I really noted during our Mother's Day brunch visit was that the chef does not do any weird twists with the food, it is classic French flavors with high quality ingredients. I would say the Beef Burgundy was some of the best I've had. The "gypsy jazz" ensemble was a bonus treat and altogether the food and ambience made for a memorable dining experience. Outdoor seating with beautiful early afternoon weather was also a bonus. Thanks Violette for putting on quite a show!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful as alwaysWe had the Mother's Day Brunch with our kids and two grandsons. The place is very cozy, but alive. We always feel like family there. The jazz quartet was a plus. Good music, but not obtrusive. The service is great. they are friendly, knowledgeable and timely, but don't hover or disappear. The food was excellent. The Beef Bourguignon was the best, the quiche was good, the sausages were great, french toast, eggs Benedict, shrimp salad and asparagus salad were good too. The dill salmon was great, but the beef bourguignon was my very favorite. The chocolate mousse was great, and there was an assortment of pastries, but I prefer the meat, but did taste some pastries other got.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLong term customer..alwaysLong term customer..always great, consistent...thanks5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service againGreat food and service again and we will keep going. Now our favorite Atlanta Restaurant. A gem for us since we were in the south of France on Bastille Day in 1995, the day Violette opened. We enjoy that fantastic trip over and over as we dine at Violette !! You won't be disappointed !!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWas a nice way to end a dayA friend and I had made reservations for dinner after spending the afternoon at the High Museum of Art and Violette did not disappoint. Our courteous, attentive (and French-speaking) waiter set a nice tone from the start, and our aperitifs kept it going. The bartender even consulted with us about one of our requests, then prepared the drink in just the way my friend wanted it. Our appetizers of salmon rillette and Pommes de Terre à l’Alsacienne were excellent and served in generous portions, and we shared a main course of Canard à la Lavande. I enjoyed the duck, but perhaps because I was spoiled by the appetizers, I might try something less crunchy and more meaty next time. We shared apple pie for dessert, and it was spot on.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good andThe food was very good and our server was excellent.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA gem off the beaten pathWho would think a cozy little French restaurant with stellar service, a creative wine list, reasonable prices, and delicious food would be hidden in the Clairmont-I85 corridor? It's true and it's wonderful. For us Northsiders, it was a trek, but we found it well worth the trip.
The place is small and cozy, but tables are not so close as to inhibit conversation. Service is professional but friendly. The menu features most basic French standbys, plus a couple of vegetarian dishes that sounded very intriguing. The only thing missing for me was that I expected more crepe dishes.
Desserts were wonderful-- we sampled the creme brulee and the pear tart- both outstanding. We'll be back!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMIn a market dominated by chainIn a market dominated by chain "family" restaurants, Violette is a refreshing throwback to DINING, as opposed to eating. Attentive service, varied and reasonably priced wine list, a menu with classic country French offerings, and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere enhanced by a pianist you can hum (if not sing) along with.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMhad a great meal with outstandinghad a great meal with outstanding service- server took a real interest in making sure that our experience was excellent4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways enjoyable food andAlways enjoyable food and ambiance - a classy little place.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fabulous as always.Food was fabulous as always. Also, restaurant is so pretty inside and feels warm and bistro like.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've eaten here about sixWe've eaten here about six times and it just keeps getting better. Special requests to the service folks were immediately attended to and the live piano music is a great setting to a great meal with friends.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently goodAlways reliable French food. Good for a date or business lunch. Salads are superior in their simplicity.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an early dinner onWe had an early dinner on a Saturday night. The food and service was excellent and there were multiple items on the agenda that we wanted. The only thing we noticed was that the music playing on the intercom was a blue=sy jazz instrumental and it seemed out of place in creating ambiance. However, about a half hour later, a wonderful piano player starting playing and it added the perfect touch to the ambiance. My husband had the trout, which he said was fantastic, and I had the fettcini with shrimp and pesto sauce, which I found very filing and perfectly tasty. The Shrimp were large and plentiful. We pass this restaurant many times on Clairmont and hardly knew it was there and we are very glad to have found it4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI took a large group of assistedI took a large group of assisted living residents who all had walkers and canes to lunch at violette's.
There was plenty of room to get around and even store the walkers. The service was fantastic, and our waiter was gracious, kind, and patient, with our residents.
It could not have been a more pleasant dining experience.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the moment I walked inFrom the moment I walked in the door, I felt I was in a friend's home. I love Violette. I had no idea this gem was in my neighborhood. The interior design is lovely - understated with no pretension. Lavender creme brulee! My salmon was delicious and my friends were delighted with their choices. All in all, a great way to celebrate my 65th birthday.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMbirthday lunceheonI gave a 50th birthday party for a friend and it was fabulous. I have heard about Violette's for years but had never been there. I won't let that happen again. Plus it is right in our neighborhood.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always receive a warm welcomeWe always receive a warm welcome here, so come back as often as we are in the area. Things were a bit slow when we arrived about 6:30 on a Monday evening, but more tables filled during our leisurely meal. It appears that the wait staff is happy here, as they now look familiar. Darrell was our server, if I recall the name correctly, which I intended to do as I would request him specifically next time. We split a generously portioned Alsatian salad, then the salmon. These were plated separately, which we really appreciated as seniors whose appetites are not what they once were. For dessert we split the warm crepe wrapped around chocolate mousse (?) and ice cream, garnished with strawberries. YUM! PS: also loved unobtrusivelive live piano.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe like it though menu isWe like it though menu is a bit tired and limited.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great but theEverything was great but the lpianist got a bit carried away at times and was just too loud! The salads were sumptuous and especially good! I've never had a better spinach salad!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice but LoudWhile we love the fact that they usually have a piano player there, this time it was too loud. Of course it is hard to ask a piano player to play more quietly so we said nothing to anyone about it. We have dined here many times and I don't ever recall the piano music being so loud. Not sure why it was this time.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe escargot and beef burgundyThe escargot and beef burgundy sauces were excellent sopped them up with bread,Clean Plate!
piano player was great, no rush on the meal. Bottle of wine, happy wife , good time3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden Gem on Clairmont Road!Violette is a welcome surprise for us- as it has been around for 20 years and I have been in Atlanta for 23 and never heard about it until this visit! Excellent French dishes galore- Onion soup, escargots, Beef Bougignon, Chocolate mousse, all reasonably priced and delicious. Service was attentive and the wine list quite nice: a Chateau Neuf de Pape (2010) for $66 enticed me. We will be going back to his hidden gem!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMNot special, but acceptable.Passing thru Atlanta by car, this seemed like a good spot to avoid the chain gang restuarants. While it indeed fit the bill for that, it just didn't quite measure up to a special spot for french food. A long back room next to an open door to ???? seating arrangement was a turn off. Up front with live piano would have been perhaps more special had we known this could be reserved. Nothing wrong with food prep, just nothing special. If again passing through Atlanta we would return with more definitive reservation requests.1/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Atlanta "Institution"Violette has been around a long time. I found it in the early 90's, when it was at it's original location. It was more intimate then.
It's since moved into a bigger space. This place can hold MANY. When full, you won't get prompt service. They keep their sense of humor, though. And you should, too. The food has an Alsatian bent, and doesn't disappoint.
On weekends, there is a great pianist. He very sensitively gears it toward the crowd, and will take requests. When I asked him to play "What Are You Doing the Rest of your Life?", he played a passable rendition. However, 2 weeks later he played it beautifully and flawlessly. Obviously he went home, learned it, and played it when he saw us eating there again. That is priceless.12/7/2012 12:00:00 AMalways a great evening, butalways a great evening, but the menu seemed a little lighter than usual, the service was more distant than I am accustomed to at Violette1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
