If Ryan tells you it's tapas style, don't believe him!Portions are ginormous!Food is so tasty & delectable.Must sit in the courtyard.Beet salad was delicious with plenty of red beets and mache.Romaine salad isn't your typical.Worth trying!Tomato tart was delish. All presenations were well thought out.Gnocchi isn't your typical as well; on the heavier side.Loved the corn/risotto shrimp combo. The crunch in the corn made a difference.Pork belly was yummy.Hanger steak was cooked to perfection & was a nice size. The quality of meat was 2-thumbs up!Forget the Argentina flatbread though. As for the churros, it's a DEFINITE MUST!It's for sure homemade.Cafe au lait whipped cream was sooo good!I liked the fact that wine flight was paired with our dishes

  • Shrimp risotto you could kill for
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 7/18/2012
Vinoteque was a fantastic little surprise, we dined at this nearby gem last week for the first time. They are great about letting you taste wines before deciding on one, and one of the owners (a sweet little couple) even greeted us and engaged in some friendly conversation. We tried several of their small plates, which are "shared" primarily because it seems like the kitchen can't get any round of dishes out at the same time. Everything just comes out as it is ready, that's really their only downfall, but it still works. The two highlights of the meal: the four cheese Tortellini in a cream sauce with saba, and the Shrimp risotto with corn and bacon. Wow. I could die after eating that. So delicious. I want to eat both of those again.

Vinoteque is one of our favorite restaurants. We always feel welcome by the staff, in particular, the host/sommelier Ryan. With his warm demeanor and lilting Irish accent, he is the best. I always let him choose the wine and he's never been wrong. The food is fun and it changes regularly. I highly recommend the gnocchi, the sliders, the risotto, the mizzuna salad with rosemary popcorn and citrus--pretty much everything.

The food was good but nothing extraordinary. The service was friendly. And the wine we ended up drinking was very nice (my first 2 choices were sold out). So why 3 stars? Because The food choices are quite limited. Surprisingly limited for a tapas restaurant. And given the small portions for $10 - $15 each I'd expect exceptional preparations, some surprise and delight, but instead it was average to good. 2 people $110 NOT including wine. But it's a wine house you say, so food is secondary. OK, then why is the wine list so short? I've been to many regular restaurants with better wine lists. Example: French reds - only 7 choices, a few of which are in the +$200 range. Bottom line: Yes I did enjoy myself. No, I see no reason to

  • Food - average. Goat Cheese
    OpenTable Diner Since 2003
    Dined on 2/17/2012
Food - average. Goat Cheese salad was awesome. I would have bought one more dish but all other items were disappointing. I didn't want to waste any more money for something over-priced. The Scallop Risotto was the worst dish. It tasted like baked rice (dry) and the marble sized scallops tasted a bit off. The popcorn salad is a joke. A tiny hint taste of rosemary in popcorn and that on a salad was just odd. This place is good for going out to have some wine and maybe one dish to have with it. I wouldn't recommend having dinner. The server never once asked how we were doing or observed our table to see if we need anything. If I was lucky he was looking at my direction, I had to flag him down. It wasn't busy and he would walk by many times

I am not a big fan of tapas because you end up spending so much money on so little food, but I must say Vinoteque's portions were plentiful. I recommend the sweet potato fries! The spinich salad was filling. Everything tasted very fresh and organic. The four-cheese tortellini paired with the La Merika Pinot Noir was my favorite...so I thought until I ordered the churros for desert. Each churro was filled with chocolate, cream, and a caramel filling. It was so tasty! Can't wait to go back.

It was late on a Thursday night, so there were only a handful of people there. Which was nice (being in Hollywood/West Hollywood area), that it wasn't a scene or packed, but could have a conversation. Server (owner?) was more that welcoming and the wine was good (it was an after dinner night cap, so didn't eat there). Romantic in the outdoor/trellis area.
