I had never been here before, but
had heard good reviews from friends. Two close friends were visiting and I made reservations for dinner. The hostess was very friendly and took me to our table -- I came straight from the office and arrived 30 minutes before our reservation time. The server was just as friendly and accommodating. She recommended a delicious glass of wine, and once my friends arrived, we ordered the cheese and charcuterie tasting plates. Both were a very nice selection, but the cheese servings were tiny for 3 people to share. For dinner, I ordered the pasta with a pureed cauliflower sauce and it was incredible. My friends ordered the bison and tuna, both were equally tasty. I look forward to the next time."

We've dined at Vinoteca before and
have enjoyed it enough to want to return. Not so this time. The service was terrible - incredibly slow, and we asked for everything to be brought out at the same time since some of us ordered main courses and others ordered small plates. The small plates came out one by one, then the main course (ordered by someone who didn't order a small plate) well over an hour later. The wait might have been worth it if the food had been stellar, but it wasn't. Some of the dishes were passable, and the bison was reportedly very good, but others not. Overall, a very disappointing experience."

We enjoyed a family brunch ..
complete with baby ... Everyone had something delicious and different - we appreciated the choices."
Dined on 4/6/2014
Wine selection is very good with
interesting flights. The eclectic food is spot on and the desserts are interesting and delicious."

This was my second time at
vinoteca. Their menu is great and it is very difficult to make a choice at brunch. The restaurant itself is small and not very suitable for large groups bc it can get very loud"
Dined on 3/22/2014
Came here with my friend for
brunch and even though the view isn't great we loved sitting outside on their front patio (I highly suggest asking for a seat at their back patio instead). Service was great and the food met expectations. I would go back again."

We went on a Friday night and the
inside was packed! So noisy and loud and energetic and then we are outside and it was nice and quiet and peaceful. We loved the food, lots of small plates. We got two different wine flights and had a really great, low maintenance meal. I've been twice and I'll keep going"
Dined on 3/21/2014
I have eaten at Vinoteca several
times, and this was the first time the service was really lax. I could have forgiven it if the place had been packed, but it wasn't even half full when we arrived. The food was very good but I hope they address the slowness in the service. Waiting 15 minutes for a glass of wine is unforgivable at a wine bar."
Dined on 3/20/2014
Sitting at a four top (not in the
bar), the dining room was so loud that we couldn't talk across the table. I thought maybe once the happy hour crowd subsided, it would be better but it never changed. The menu is really interesting and inventive, the food was good, the server was ok; this would be a great place to dine alone or with someone you don't want to have long conversations with during dinner."
Dined on 3/7/2014
Went here for a late brunch with
two friends. Drinks and food were delicious, but service was spotty. The bussers were efficient but our waiter forgot to enter one of the orders and we ended up almost finishing our food before the last order came. The manager came over and apologized (though oddly the server didn't). Perhaps he was new to the job. In any case the atmosphere was nice, food was very tasty, and drinks were good too. Would likely come back here and give the service a second try."
Dined on 3/16/2014
We had a fabulous brunch - food
was fresh, inventive, and oh so flavorful (wild mushroom omelet, home fries, pork sausage, french toast with lavender honey). You can't beat the $3 bellinis either. Decor and atmosphere are perfect but service was a little shotty. I'm looking forward to my next visit."
Dined on 3/16/2014
We went to Vinoteca for brunch and
got the bottomless mimosas for $15. That turned out to be an excellent decision, as the staff were constantly coming by to refill our mimosas the entire time we were at our table, even after we paid our bill! (The food was delicious too!) Highly recommended. Great service."

A group of us went for brunch on a
Saturday. The food was fantastic! They were very amenable to seating additional people in our party. The service was good considering how busy it was and the setting was very neighborhood cute."
Dined on 3/1/2014
We took my son and his girlfriend
here over the weekend and had very poor service and food was mediocre at best. We did really like the ambiance as it's very nice but then got really loud with a band right by our table."
Dined on 2/16/2014
I wasn't only impressed with the
food but also the drinks. I don't often request mixed drinks, but the bitters that Vinoteca had were just amazing. The atmosphere was great, too, and the staff were friendly. Vinoteca was just a great place to be. I also like that it's next door to Solly's Tavern, so you can stop by Solly's before or after for some music upstairs."

They ran out of many items on the
Valentine's day menu which was particularly upsetting for a $95 pp price tag. I think to remedy this, they should have adjusted the price of the menu. On a positive note, they had a great wine selection."

Hello, I went with a group of
friends and we had a fantastic experience. The hostess was great very accommodating for a large group of 8. The server was very nice. The food was delicious. The flamenco singers and dancer were amazing!! Keep it up!!"
Dined on 2/16/2014
I've been to Vinoteca multiple
times before and enjoyed the food and wine. This time they had a special 5 course tasting menu. I'm not sure if it was just too ambitious of a menu or what but the food was not good (except for the bison and the duck confit parsnip soup - which were delicious). The seafood didn't taste fresh and the pasta was heavy and chewy. The deserts were completely uninspiring. For a $60 tasting menu at a neighborhood place I was wildly disappointed. Not sure I'd go back unless it's for boce in the summer."
Dined on 2/14/2014
we had the mushroom crostini,
arugula w winter squash, and grilled squid small plates. one of us had the burger full-size entree. all delicious."

Vino teach is the perfect spot
before a show at Lincoln theatre. Free convenient on street parking, friendly hostess and bartender, and even a great spot to get a night cap after the show! Hubby had a grilled cheese appetizer and I had a most delicious hake with fingerlings and a simple beurre blanc sauce - filling but healthy! Bartender had fun with wine recommendations, and we enjoyed happy hour prices. We'll be back!!!"
Dined on 2/10/2014
I hadn't been to Vinoteca for a
while, but recently had dinner there before going to the Lincoln Theatre for a show. Great service, excellent food, fantastic wine list. Will definitely be coming back."
Dined on 2/10/2014
We went there for the Super Bowl
as we heard they were going a wine and food happy hour all night during the game. This was also our first time to Vinoteca. The food and wine prices were great, and the burger was absolutely phenomenal. Strongly recommend this for a relaxing and casual small plates restaurant!"

Wonderful food - from fish to
bison to duck. Salads were fresh and tasty. Portions were as described and priced appropriately. Wine list is not the usual American vineyards. Would like to explore it more. Service was great and attentive. Lighting was a little dim and noise level was too much (but made by people enjoying good food, wine and friends.) Give it a try!"

Had brunch here a few weeks ago
and it was fabulous! I had the Wild Mushroom Omelette and it was delicious and loved the salad on the side. My boyfriend was bummed because they were out of the Duck Confit Benedict but still liked the Frittata a lot. The service was great and our coffee cups were never empty!"
Dined on 1/4/2014
The food was pretty good but not
great. There are so many great restaurants that I probably wouldn't go back, but I wouldn't complain if I did go back. It was very loud though."

We came in for Restaurant Week,
and had great things from numerous folks. Everyone at the talbe works in the food and beverag industry, so overall, it was just okay. For starters, the food missed the mark - was not horrible, but the menu made it sound so much better than the reality and certain dishes lacked flavor, and some just were not what we were hoping. To make matters even worse, the server, Brittney, just seemed insanely annoyed the entire time. I get it is RW, prices are reduced, and our reservation was at 9 - but we did spend some money, ordering wine and after dinner drinks, etc. Just very disappointing overall."

I went to Vinoteca with 7 friends
on a Friday night in December. The ambiance is nice and comfortable & we go to catch the tail-end of an excellent happy hour deal! The food was quite tasty & we really, really enjoyed the flights of wine/ champagne that we go to try. However, my only negative was the waitress that we had - she made any request seem inconvenient to her. My friend tried to order a happy hour drink for her husband since he was on his way & she wouldn't allow it (she had only ordered 1 drink beforehand). In addition, the waitress spilled wine onto the table while she was pouring (we received a hurried "sorry"). If we went back, we would request a different server since she made our experience unpleasant."

Enjoyed the small, intimate
neighborhood setting on a rainy winter night with 2 great friends and my husband, but the large plates (entree portions) were without interest or taste. We each had chicken (leg, not well prepared) and gnocchi with some sort of a sweet potato sauce that reminded us of of unsalted baby food. The small plates were better - a charcuterie plate with pairings of sweet and savory (yummy) and the mushroom bruschetta was very good. Wine flights ok - one of the pairings was undrinkable, and we requested (and received) a replacement. I am sure that this restaurant is a fun neighborhood place, especially when the Bocci court is open in warmer weather, but only recommend for wine and an app. Save your money on the rest."

A server should never call his or
her patrons "children." Unfortunately our wait staff was unprofessional, untimely, and aloof. The food was okay. I would not look to go back."
Dined on 1/15/2014
I've brunched a lot around DC, but
this has to be one of my new favorites. Delicious food, awesome service and great mimosa deal (indeed, I never saw the bottom of my mimosa glass). I went with a group of 6, and we had a blast. Is a great atmosphere for groups with fun music and lots of energy. Will definitely return!"
Dined on 1/12/2014
Lively scene. We started with the
charcuterie sampler, which was very good but aggressively priced at $32, and then had the bison steaks. Our server gave fantastic recommendations for wines--the Chilean cab she recommended was a perfect match for the bison dish. Bonus points to the kitchen for actually cooking the steak blue as ordered."
Dined on 1/11/2014
Brunch is always good no matter
what is ordered. It is also always a plus to have such great waitors, they are always very courteous and helpful."
Dined on 1/5/2014
It was extremely overpriced in
terms of the price-quality relation. The regular menu is 10 times better than the one chosen for the New Year's Eve. I wouldn't recommend it."
Dined on 12/31/2013
I chose this restaurant based on
Yelp reviews, and i do not regret. The staff was phenomenal, and very patient. I had a party of 8 that grew to a party of 13, and they were extremely accommodating. I was so taken with my waitress that i hadn't realized 2 hours had passed with great food and good conversation. I hope they are willing to have me back, because i admit I DID make them work."
Dined on 12/29/2013
I originally went to Vinoteca for
happy hour, and enjoyed their small plates and wines. But I've been to weekend brunch a couple of times now, as it has become my favorite brunch spot! Most recently, I have enjoyed the smoked pork shoulder omelet, while tasting my partner's bison and eggs, and another companion's pork confit eggs benedict. They offer the usual mimosas and bellinis, but I prefer their irish coffee (with both Jameson and Bailey's). The atmosphere is warm, the service friendly, at the bar or at a table, with a neighborhood feel, not touristy."
Dined on 12/28/2013
The food at Vinoteca is and has
always been very delicious. When I went over last weekend, however, it was so noisy that it was difficult to enjoy brunch and catch up with my out of town friend."
Dined on 12/29/2013
My husband and I brought my
parents here for dinner between Christmas and New Years. Our waitress was terrific, and we had a very relaxed, tasty early dinner."
Dined on 12/27/2013
I booked a reservation here for a
dinner for 4, but the loud bar music and vibe is not well separated from the restaurant, we we could could not hear each other at all during the meal. It's a shame because the food was really good, but we ate as quickly as we could, declined dessert (which we would have otherwise ordered), and got out of there. I would go back for a drink, because the bar is the main focus of this place and that part seemed fun. But if you are looking for a relaxing dinner, go elsewhere. If they could put up a real wall between the bar and restaurant, I think there business would grow by leaps and bounds."
Dined on 12/20/2013
Unusual selection of small plates
and entrees, each excellent. Very attentive, helpful service. Be prepared for noise!"
Dined on 12/19/2013
Great place to catch up with
friends or go on a nice date! Food selection is fun and fantastic. Only downside is you can't customize food orders (e.g. can't add bacon to my mushroom omelette!)."
