We took our visiting relatives here and truly loved it. I hadn't been here in a few years and wasn't sure what to expect but we truly enjoyed every minute of our evening. The service was slow but I think it was intentional - we truly felt like we were in Italy. The server was wonderful and talked us through our wine choices. Our meals were phenomenal! Everyone loved their entree, as we shared plates amongst the table and remarked on all the different pastas and sauce types. We felt the price was reasonable, and we can't wait to return.

Although, we visited a few wonderful places in Boston, overall, we liked Monica's the best for interesting, local Italian food! Felt homey in a way some others do not but upscale in the quality of the meal and wines. Place was smaller than some but similar in design, etc. Flavors were outstanding from pastas to amazing seafood dishes to meat. Our waiter suggested some wines based on our tastes and we were not disappointed. We did not have dessert. The bread bowl wasn't traditional as it had a mix of breadsticks, crusty flat bread (like crackers?). Guess they don't want you to fill up on bread which actually worked out well for us that night. On our next trip to Boston, I am sure we will be back at Monicas:)

We have dined at Vinoteca di Monica several times and it has always been very good. The menu offers several interesting choices that are well prepared. The pasta dishes are always great and have choices you don't find elsewhere. The waitstaff is pleasant, efficient and well informed about the menu and the wine list. The wine list offers a wide choice of Italian wine organized by regions. Vinoteca di Monica not only offers very good food ,serves it in a lovely dining room which allows for pleasant conversation. There is also a wine bar where one can sample several Italian wine by the glass.

The pasta was delicious..I had chicken tortellini with sage cream sauce..just enough to fill me up..my sister loved her salmon, crisp on outside, sift on inside over a bed of fresh carrots and celery - very unique and delicious as well. I would recommend it. Delicious white bean/garlic spread was served with the bread..very nice and tasty. Very attentive wait staff.

A happening spot in Boston's Northend. Food was very good as was service though the room was noisy and crowded on a busy Saturday night. Valet parking adds greatly to the convenience factor. Well worth a casual dinner.

This restaurant was recommended to us, and we visited on a Friday evening in October. The food was OK, but we were expecting better quality for the price and so we were rather dissapointed. Its better than your average Italian chain restaurant, but I'm sure there are many better places to eat. The other problem is it is really noisy, we were actually almost shouting at one another across the table to make ourselves heard. When we return to Boston we will not be going back.

This was our second visit to this restaurant and we were just as pleased as the first time. Specialty cocktails at the bar were very good--we should know! The wait was long, but worth it--and in all fairness the host was working it out so our reserved table of four could sit with another couple we asked to add on that night. The food was delicious; every single thing we ordered, even the Caesar salads, were fantastic. No one needed a doggie bag. It's tight, like all North End restaurants, but it didn't feel overcrowded except a bit at the bar. I had reserved on Open Table and requested a window seat in the notes and they gave it to us, even with the added couple. We will be back again!

With over 2000 restaurants in Boston to choose from, picking a place to eat can be daunting, even while relying on reviews. We chose this place because it wasn't TOO expensive and locals seemed to like it. We had a place next to the window on a nice early September evening. The food and wine were good and reasonably priced. The service was friendly and prompt. We were seated immediately. Highly recommend.

My husband and I went on a Saturday night date here last week and loved it! The pasta was clearly homemade and melted in your mouth. My husband ordered the rack of lamb which was also delicious and cooked perfectly. The wait staff was fantastic. They always noticed when water needed a refill, plates needed clearing, but let us enjoy without interruptions otherwise. The decor and atmosphere is great as well! We will definitely be going back again, hopefully soon!

Husband and I took visiting friends from Anchorage Alaska to Vinoteca di Monica for a true NEnd experience. What we got: freshly made, delicious pasta with a variety of sauces. Spinach and Ricotta Nudi was light as air, fettucine with mushroom sauce was divine. The cioppino {spelling?} was too much for one diner.. the gnocchi equally perfect. The wine list surprised our friends, who were pleased to try wines they can't get at home. The bar was friendly and laid back, desserts were a mix; the berry tart was delish, but the flourless chocolate cake was too sweet. What we didn't get: the hefty dose of pretense all to common these days in the North End. We love you, Monica's. Noise level was a little loud, but that could be our ages showing!

Our group of four chose Vinoteca di Monica to celebrate some August birthdays over good food and a bottle of prosecco. All the serving staff were attentive and helpful, bread basket and bean spread were filled twice during the meal, water glasses were topped up, entrees were delivered piping hot, the homemade pastas delicious. Many of the entrees are unique in flavors and dishes are beautifully dressed. Order their herbed salmon steak (this was one of the specials) - it's other-worldly. Windows open to the street, a nice option that makes a cozy restaurant seem a bit larger. If you want to keep costs down, choose the fixed price dinner. We loved this North End restaurant.

I took my family here and right away we were disappointed. While the restaurant is very cute, not a single one of us enjoyed our meals. Between two appetizers and four main courses, I can only recommend one dish (and it was a special)... The food was just not enjoyable. Even worse was the service. While the cook seemed nice, our waitress was terrible. After having to send back a side dish that was so bad we could not eat it, she charged us for the next side dish that we got instead - never have I experienced this and I dine in the north end very often. I was so excited to dine here and all I can say is - major left down.

Our cocktails were delicious and the wine list was excellent. Service was attentive and most importantly we all loved our food. I went with the scallops on black linguine which was exeptional.
