It was our anniversary, we made reservations not knowing how busy they are on a Thursday. The food was very Italian, so was our wine choice, and well presented. And, very tasty! After seeing the back cover ad on the Dubuque visitors guide magazine, and checking several other restaurants, we selected Vinny's.

pizza crust was soggy; difficult to get more water. Easily the worst food on our trip; there have to be better Italian options in DuBuque -- and if there aren't go to a different style restaurant.

We went to VV for our Anniversary, as a special treat. And, the service and greeting was warm, friendly and efficient. Unfortunately we both agreed the food was not bad but forgettable. The veal was on the tough side and the marina pasta somewhat bland. Loved the salad and garlic bread, however. One small but notable occurrence was not receiving the appetizer we ordered. We will give VV's one more try but hesitantly. Lastly, we were pleased with the pricing.

It was FANTASTIC!! We ate at the Dubuque location and dined indoors. Waitress was wonderful and the New York Steak was so tender. Best steak I've had in years!! Dined outdoors in Galena. Food was great again!! Loved Vinny's and will go back when we return to the area!!!

It was our 25th wedding anniversary. I had requested with the reservation quaint quiet area. We were seated in the back area pass the bar, and it was extremely noisey, very very noisey and loud. It was nice to go to STAMS for dessert to enjoy some quiet atmosphere. Thank you.

Heard good things about Vinny's in Galena so we decided to try it since we were staying in Dubuque. It's only a couple blocks from Holiday Inn. The walk was nice and the neighborhood looks like it's developing nicely. My lasagne was good. My husband's veal parmesagne was excellent. Salad is served family style and was plentiful. The bread that came with the meals was some of the best we've had. The service was excellent. We would definitely return, but would ask for a table away from the kitchen.

I have been coming up to Dubuque for over 28 years. Vinny's is always on my list of things to do as well as the Hotel Julien. They are both rated at FIVE Stars, and I agree. I have had occasions where I dined there two nights in a row. I have recommended Vinny's to many, many people over the years. They have never come back to me with any disapproval ever.

When I tried to book through Open Table for a 7:00 PM reservation, it said that it could not fill at that time, and to select another time So I picked 7:30 PM, and again, same message. I tried for 8:00 PM and it gave me the green light. When we arrived at the restaurant, there were only two tables seated, no one waiting, no messy leftovers from some gigantic party, and obvious that the place was NOT that busy that evening. So why did I get pushed off to 8:00 PM???

We thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Vinny's. I ordered their Pepper Steak Italiano, which was cooked exactly to my specifications and the sauce and peppers were great, additionally my meal came with a side of penne. The pasta dishes had very thinly sliced parmesan cheese and was amazing. My wife ordered the stuffed shells. She is Italian and she was impressed, excellent. The wine list was vast and we enjoyed a wonderful Tuscan red. We've traveled in Italy and always enjoy wines from that area and Vinny's had several. The atmosphere was open, family inviting. It was just the two of us, but we could see and are planning a family trip back to share this restaurant with our friends and family.

The restaurant was very busy due to many graduations parties going on. The wait staff was very busy but you wouldn't know it. They took time to wait on everyone and checked back many times. Since we do not live near Dubuque we do not go to this restaurant often but do go every time we are in the Dubuque area. The food is always very good and service is excellent!

5th trip back while visiting daughter at College. Last time we came I booked our table via Open Table and had 1 minor problem which was that I had asked to be seated somewhere quiet away from traffic and was seated right smack in the middle of the room in a high-traffic area. This last time we booked a table via Open Table again. We arrived right on schedule and were taken all the way to the back of the restaurant (passing many open tables along the way) to a table for three that was very inadequate in the fact that you could only use half of the table because of all the obstructions (Chalkboard, wall and various entertainment items) that were in the way. Went back to Hostess, said it was not acceptable and was reseated but not nicely.

We waited 25 mins for water. Waitress never brought us salad or bread....when I asked her she said because we ordered appetizers it threw her off and she forgot. We never ended up getting salad or bread the entire dining experience. Everything took a very long time...drinks, and food. Got there at 7:10 food didn't come until 8:40. We had movie plans for 8:40...missed them. Embarrassed I recommend this place to the other couple we were with.

You're only as good as your last service Gordon Ramsey always says. And the last service I had at the Dubuque location was not up to par. I've been to both the Dubuque and Galena location and generally like the food very much. The $19.95 penne pasta on the chicken cacciatore daily special was mushy and overcooked and chicken non existent. Tiny glass of wine cost $6.50, overpriced. My wife's lasagna was good. Noodles al dente and filling generous. Noodles in the middle would be nice. Cheesecake, $6.95, was very good but the small slice cost more than wine. Wine and dessert portion sizes need to be larger or prices lower. The bill came to $49 for 2 people before tip, overprice for quality and quantity.

We were a little scrunched in and the price did not match the food as some of it was not that good. I was not happy paying $20 for fake crabmeat. If they want high prices they should have highend food. Some of the food was amazing though. It was an alright time

We went to Vinny's for my sister's birthday over the weekend. The atmosphere was beautiful. Nice, dim lights, pretty Italian themed decorations. The food was excellent and they had a nice selection of wines and drinks. Everyone in our group loved what they ordered. However, the restaurant was very hot (maybe this was because we were sitting upstairs). Also, our service had a lot of room for improvement. The waitress was nice, but very slow, not very thoughtful, and forgetful.

The restaurant has great ambiance, a little Italy feeling, like a mobster might be having a meeting at the next table over. The wait staff was nice. The Food on the other hand could be stepped up, my wife ordered the shrimp crab lobster pasta, and was a bit surprised to find the crab was imitation crab. My meal was the chicken parm, it was well cooked, however the Pasta was a bit wet and could have been strained better. Overall it was a nice dinner out. I would eat there again.

My boyfriend and I stumbled across this gem of a restaurant this fall while on a weekend away. We loved the atmosphere the minute we walked in - there is so much to look at in this old building. The food is wonderful; we've had everything from soup & salad to a full pasta dinner with dessert, and have never been disappointed. Their food makes me want to dance. We live a little over an hour away, and make it a point to get there at least once a month. Highly recommended.

I ordered the seafood italiano. I thought was going to be a seafood pasta dish based on the description. It was not. The menu says there is lobster in the dish and when it came out there was a tiny lobster TAIL on top! I didn't ask for a lobster tail nor did I want one at all. My dish had all the meat separate in one dish and then a side of noodles and sauce in another. Im not sure why since the menu doesn't say anything about the noodles and red sauce. It does however give the impression that its going to be a pasta dish with seafood in it. My husband ordered the pasta with meatballs. His platecame out with a large link of sausage on top. No meatballs! There menu needs better descriptions.

We were @ VV's to celebrate a family birthday. Our party of 8 included adults, senior citizens, and elementary school age children. I appreciated being able to make an online reservation. We were seated in the back room area-- private, which was great for our group as we had birthday cake for my (adult) daughter, sang to her & had presents. Food & service were great! Prompt service, excellent food--especially the salad & bread (both my favorites!)

We made reservations for 4 earlier in the week to celebrate our two friends birthdays. When we got there we were seated at a table next to a party of 30. Obviously the servers had a higher priority than Our little 4 top so we didn't not get much attention during our dining experience. The food was delicious when we got it. When we received our check, My friend whose birthday we were celebrating asked the waitress if they did anything special for birthdays and she said free ice cream. Luckily my friend asked otherwise we wouldn't have gotten that added bonus even though it was stated on our reservation! Overall great food, the timing with the large party and location of our table did dampen our experience a little.
