  • "Quiet, intimate, and never crowded. Great wine. Food is always good. Staff is attentive. Highly recommended."

  • "The restaurant is one in which you can actually hear your friends speak! The wait staff was very nice. Our server saw that my granddaughter was feeling poorly and brought her a smoothie. The cranberry bread is delicious."

  • "Vinifera has become our go-to place for meeting friends from Leesburg for Happy Hour! We meet their relatively early, get lured in by the delicious house red wine special, and then next thing you know we're still hanging out two hours later. What's really fun is that you can create your own cheese board in addition to all of the delicious small plate options they offer. Fun place in an odd location! We'll be back."

  • "I had lunch here twice this week and both were quiet with upscale food selection and a very nice atmosphere. One of the few places you can choose low medium or higher priced items and still have good choices."

  • "First time here and was very pleasantly surprised. Both in and outdoor dining was beautiful. The wine list is expansive and you can creat your own flights. We enjoyed small bites and tapas and they were all exquisitely prepared and delicious."

  • "They always have a great menu to choose from, and not just the usual fare. Their food choices are fresh and always a difficult choice, due to multiple great options. My lunch partner was surprised at how reasonable the prices were, though it can go high if you choose it to."

  • "Food was excellent---service could be improved. It was our first time and we really enjoyed the food! Kudos to the Chef!"

  • "We love dining at Vinifera. The food is excellent as well as the service. Whatever we have eaten has been expertly prepared with fresh ingredients. We have dined here many times and never been disappointed. The chef changed about a year ago but the quality of the food is still great. We love the desserts which are unique. Today we had a deconstructed black forrest cake and enjoyed every bit of it."

  • "We have always enjoyed our meals here. Went as a group of 4 a couple of nights ago. It was DC restaurant week and a couple of us ordered off that menu (fixed price, appetizer, entrée, dessert). The plates were very tasty but small. I ordered tuna off the main menu and it was good, not great, with a better sized portion. Great wine list - a wine lover's restaurant for sure. Nice looking bar area and good ambiance overall. Very nice to sit outside. Heat lamps if it's chilly."

  • "We have been here 8 or 10 times before. I like to come because it is quiet and we can talk. This time there was a retirement party in the bar that was very loud. We were given a table very close to the party. The halibut was dry and the pasta was soggy. The 6 ounce serving of wine looked lost in the big wine glass. I will give the restaurant another chance but I won't recommend the place, for now."

  • "My dinner and I had an excellent dinner with a well selected bottle of wine. We ate on the Patio on a beautiful evening. The first courses and main courses were excellent. We are both primarily pescatarians and the seafood offerings were fresh and well donne."

  • "The Sea Bass was great as usual. This was my fourth visit to Vinifera. The Sea Bass just gets better every time."

  • "My wife and I wanted to meet some friends for happy hour who were coming from Leesburg and Arlington, so we chose Vinifera due to it's location someplace in between. We do not regret the decision, because the happy hour specials were awesome, and our server was so fun that we stayed beyond the happy hour and ordered more food and drinks and were extremely happy! The place is not the easiest to find, but there is plenty of parking, and you don't feel pressured. We tasted the sliders (tuna, crab, chicken), tuna tartar, and cheese platter, and they were all awesome with the wines our server helped us select. She was also spot on suggesting cheeses! Definitely recommend Vinifera if you're in the area."

  • "Made reservations for a late (2:30pm) lunch and found nobody around. Had to track down the chef in the kitchen who later called staff to seat us. Enjoyed salmon sandwich with local grown greens and fries. Nothing special, just a good quiet lunch with nice ambience. Will visit again when in the area."

  • "Restaurant is conveniently located in the Westin. The is parking around the back. The service is fast and staff is very pleasant. Appetizer Duck Confit Hunter’s Stew.....Amazing. Been here quite a few times now and love love love it. "

  • "Very pleasant restaurant and great service but the food this time was very mediocre--very dry squares of chicken in the chopped chicken salad"

  • "Three of us met for a meeting over good food, a quiet atmosphere, and great service. We each had a different salad and they were all excellent. I enjoyed the jumbo crab on mine and really relished it. The service was much better than other places in the area, since they were not overcrowded. I highly recommend Vinifera for quiet lunches, a place where you can hear each other talk, and excellent service."

  • "Not sure their website does this place justice. While going to the website does find it very appealing, it was much better in person. Everything was top notch...the service, the ambiance, the wine list, and the signature dishes! It was a gorgeous evening so we sat out on the terrace. Perfect night! A great place for an intimate dinner or a group celebrating a special event. Highly recommended!"

  • "We celebrated a special birthday with a special friend. Vinifera was perfect allowing us to order a collection of small plates and bottles of wine. We We were able to chat without waiters hovering and when we ran out of food we just ordered some more small plates and wine. The main meals also looked delicious but we stuck with the small plates and bites. The restaurant is comfortable and spacious with a friendly atmosphere."

  • "Vinifera has risen to my favorite restaurant in the area, and my wife's too. The small plate ("tapas") dishes are wonderful, allowing for a broad tasting of amazing food at a more moderate price than when ordering entrees. The relaxed, unhurried atmosphere makes for the oasis of a wonderful dining experience in swirling sea of hurry. How nice is that!"

  • "My mother and I had a great time here. Their champaign flight was awesome. We loved the food. Overall, it was a great experience."

  • "Vinifera is a very good restaurant that reliably delivers on expectations. The food and preparation are usually excellent; the wine list impressive; and the pacing is spot-on. The staff is competent but they seem to forget to 'check-in' with the patrons to make sure all is fine at the table. The small plates are uniformly delicious and adventurous. On this occasion, my duck was over cooked (significantly) but still flavorful when accompanied with the exceptional berry sauce. Management seems to be discreetly more attentive these days too; that's appreciated. Vinifera is one of the very best suburban hotel restaurants in northern Virginia."

  • "I have dined here several times and decided at the last minute to take my mom for her birthday! The restaurant hostess greeted us by wishing my mom Happy Birthday followed by menus that stated Happy Birthday at the top! We were then served two glasses of champagne and dessert was not ordered, but they brought a big plate with Happy Birthday spelled in chocolate along with a dessert. This is TRUE HOSPITALITY! I am in the business and do this type of things for customers, so it was incredible to be on the receiving end! They went above and beyond to make our dinner special! Thank you Vinifera!"

  • "This is my second time dining at Vinifera with my wife on a special occasion. The food is outstanding and the recommended wine pairings well worth it if you enjoy wine with your meal. Good variety on the menu with portion sizes that are just right. The warm contemporary decor of the restaurant is something my wife and I very much enjoy. Even though it was only our second visit, our server from the previous time remembered us and greeted us as we entered the restaurant. We have very good memories of our meals here and Vinifera will be a place we will continue to pick for those special occasions when we are looking for really fine dining. "

  • "The food was very good but I was disappointed that I could not order the sea bass. I did not know that you could only order from the Mother's Day menu. "

  • "The food was wonderful such unique and high quality entrees to choose from on Mothers Day We all tried something different and it was all excellent. Loved being able to have oysters, shrimp ,mussels as starters just a beautiful experience did not feel rushed just enjoyed the company and the food"

  • "We have very much enjoyed Vinifera in the past, but were very disappointed in the limited menu available for Mother's Day. The entrée's included two seafood items, one high carb French toast item and lamb. I am allergic to seafood, and for medical reasons I'm limited to a low carb diet, which left the lamb as the only remaining choice. I'm not terribly fond of lamb to begin with and found the lamb offering to be subpar in comparison with lamb I've had before. There were four of us in our party, of whom three ordered the lamb, and all were disappointed. The buffet items, however, were excellent as was the service. "

  • "I thought the value was lacking. Some of the small plates that I did not get to try looked very interesting and I would probably come back for appetizers and wine (good selection), but the entrees were average and not worth what we paid overall. to be fair, no one in our party seemed unhappy per se, but there were no raves either. I can say the strip steak was very average and the foie gras app, while it sounded very interesting and was creative--it was too sweet and it seemed they were trying too hard"

  • "What a terrific place for food. We loved everything about being at the Westin Vinifera until they decided it was closing time with perhaps a dozen or so guests finishing their evening out. Without notice of closing, a man came out with a loud, motorized vacuum cleaner and proceeded to operate it near the guests completing their meals and drinks. I have never witnessed such rudeness. Inform your well paying guests that you are closing. Reverse the process; what if you were a guest for dinner in my home and suddenly, during dessert and without explanation, I began vacuuming the carpet. Having eaten and been allowed to complete my meal in restaurants world-wide, this was the most inhospitable behavior that I have experienced at a Westin Hotel."

  • "This was a recommendation of a friend, and boy did it pay off. The food was wonderful, the service was quick and informed, and the wine list was great. I highly suggest getting several small plates to share and an entree each. The food is well prepared and we left only paying about $150 for a lareg meal, wine, and dessert. Great spot!"

  • "Vinifera is just across the Toll Road from Reston Town Center. The food is excellent, it is quiet, no crowds, easy to parking (free garage). I eat here as often as I can. This week had the butternut squash soup with creme fraiche and candied nuts and tuna nicoise. Both were excellent."

  • "My family and I went for brunch and it was more than expected! They had a wonderful cheese, meat and pastry buffet to start you off in addition to their menu! A very nice touch. The only complaint I would have is that our server just seemed uninterested at being at work that day, so he was a little off. We' ll be back for dinner!"
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "Wonderful new items on the menu are delicious to include Beets Carpaccio, Sea Bass, etc. Vinifera is a great place which has yet to be discovered by many in the Reston Town Center area. "

  • "While the ambiance was lovely and the service spot on, the food was just average -- certainly for the very high prices. The paella was dry and uninspired. This might be nice for an expense account restaurant, but we won't be going back using our own money -- just too expensive for the value."
    Dined on 4/16/2014
  • "This was probably one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. From beginning to end service was slow and lacked attention to detail and the food was not well executed (underbaked bread). Since we were celebrating a birthday, the kitchen sent out a dessert "tasting platter". The plate was awful, it looked as if the kitchen sent out the leftover food. If you think this is bad, try ordering a dessert and getting a dessert that looks like it was half-eaten. There was a clear spoonful taken from the dessert that was serve to us, which was just embarrassing and disgusting. At the end of the night we paid a big bill that was not worth the price. I would not recommend this to anyone. Save your time and your wallet for another restaurant."

  • "This restaurant is next to the Westin Hotel and several office buildings. The courtyard is very nice and the restaurant is also very well appointed. We had a business dinner and all three had the Chilean Sea Bass, which was very good. Our waitress (Shawna) was very knowledgeable and personable. Very nice, reasonably priced dinner ($160 for 3, with wine). Highly recommended for locals and for business travelers staying in the area."

  • "I reviewed the menu on line and was excited to see a dish I had not had in a long while. When I went to order was informed it was not available. I only chose this restaurant because of that dish. We ordered and what we got we could have gotten anywhere. Nothing special. As this was celebrating a 91st birthday, I was hoping for a much nicer experience. Besides all this, the menu was very limited and again nothing special. Will not return or recommend!"

  • "I had several meals at Vinifera over the weekend. The food was inovative and well-prepared and the restaurant had a nice ambiene and a professional statf. Needless to say, it had a varied and excellent wine list that complemented the food."

  • "I went to Vinifera for Dinner.... I've been here for lunch in the past. It is within the Weston hotel. There is plenty of parking in rear underground. The food is always very good. Very contemporary setting. Our server knew the menu well and was able to make recommendations. Definitely one of my favorite places to dine."
