The food is very good and the chef is creative. The quality of the wine has greatly improved to the point that we will be joining the wine club shortly. They have both single story suites in clusters of 4 looking out over the vineyard and a new 50 unit hotel. I had the penne dish which was extremely flavorful for a simple pasta dish.
My only suggestion for the restaurant would be to update their menu to include more modern options for vegetarian-friendly items such as beans and green vegetables. The menu leaned a bit more to the meat and cheese side of things.
That being said, when the waiter asked me if I wanted to add chicken or shrimp to the penne, and I asked for extra veggies instead, they accommodated my request nicely. It would just be nice to see some updates to what is a very nice menu.

The food is great, the wine pairs well, and the service is amazing. Dining inside is great for dinner but the patio is very nice for brunch (I did both on my stay, loved it!). Only thing was since we sat outside onthe patio, they sa us right in the sun, even though there were outside patio seats in shade. The building is beautiful and the grounds are stunning! The wine list is very good with a number of selections from the South Coast Winery family. The restaurant is a large open facility so if you are looking for a cozy, intimate setting you will not find it here. That being said it is a very attractive and warm setting giving kudos to the wood structure of the building. It can get fairly loud when it is busy but that does not bother us so we did not find this a problem although others might find it annoying. The food was very good and arrived in a timely manner. The bartender was friendly and informative about the winery and the wines they made. When Sunny (my friend) arrived we sat at the bar for a few minutes then we were led to our table on the veranda where her birthday gifts were pre-arranged by the hostess. An umbrella was quickly provided when we found ourselves in the direct sunlight. Our waitress was superb, the food, to die for (I had the King Prawns w/Linguini Sunny had the Salmon). The ambiance, though very nice, exceptionally clean, and noticeably upscale, was lacking something. Maybe it was just the overall size of the restaurant--it is cavernous! The massive dining room reminds me of an elegant hunting lodge with the huge open beam ceiling. We had the eggs Benedict for our late Saturday morning meal. It came with an amazing cranberry compote that was a pleasant surprise. The service is impeccable from the time you checkin at the Host stand, through all phases of your meal service. We had a truly pleasant experience - and didn't even feel the impact of the sills of people that were visiting the winery on a Saturday. Inside dining expperiece with moderate noise level was nice. Always had great service in the dining room and the bar area with friendly servers.

The young lady who seated us was kind enough to come by later and take a photo on our phone of our anniversary dinner. The server Julio spoke quickly but just clearly enough over the ambient noise to tell us of the specials. One of us got one of the specials and remarked later that it might have been good of Julio to have told us the price at the time he presented them. Probably a company policy, not Julio's, so we left well-enough alone because the dish was well worth the price. We don't drink so cannot comment authoritatively about the wine list.
